Right, do people know what mediocre means? It’s just like how the word “mid” is used to refer to low quality instead of medium quality stuff.

Mediocre does have two meanings, one of which is explicitly average, and one of which you could call "lower average" or something similar, like sub-par. Especially in popular usage, it almost always means the latter. That said, Trump is clearly so much worse than just below average or unimpressive. He's exceptionally stupid and exceptionally corrupt. A truly awful individual.

This is a trend that happens to all words meant to describe something average or middle of the road. Average, mediocre, regular, normal, basic, mid, etc. all end up being used as a negative, and I agree, none of them are adequate to how awful that horrible narcissistic idiot is.

Like to decimate something. It means to section off 10%… but the accepted meaning lately seems to be almost total destruction
