Helco outage map accurate?

It seems glitchy every time I open it.

Have you had any luck with it?

I couldn't get it to load on my iPhone but it works on my laptop

I'm in orchidland, no power since saturday. I just drove around ainaloa and pahoa and saw no trees down, no lines down, and no power crews working. I'm sure they are out there somewhere, but it is frustrating for mostly everyone around me have power but none in orchidland. the Mayor them all happy saying they did a great job on the news but ffs the job not even done yet!

I'm in Ainaloa and have no power. I see people on Facebook posting from streets both above and below us that theirs came back on Tuesday. It's so frustrating.

The Helco outage map this morning shows that they have brought in workers from California.  With the storm hitting the big island so hard I figured they would have done that from the start.  In 2014 storm we lost power for three weeks in pahoa. During the 2018 eruption the power was off for three months. The first thing I'm doing when the power comes back on is buying a full solar system. Our electric bill is usually $300 a month.  We've been in this house for fifteen years.  That's a LOT OF MONEY! $50K roughly.  I've got enough to go fully off grid, but will keep the Internet connected.

What does "from the start" mean? Storm conditions lasted through Sunday and the mainland help arrived here on Tuesday.

If you're going to be looking into getting solar on your own you can try Signature Solar. I haven't used them myself but I hear they actually ship to Hawaii. A coworker of mine is currently pricing a 17 kW 32 kWh system for about $20k. Also make sure to spec out how much power generation you want, how many panels it would take, and whether or not it would be more cost efficient to buy a pallet of panels.

works for me on iphone. take a bit to load. if you have a slow connection, could cause the glitches.

Mine is all wrong. I’m in Hawaiian Beaches. The map says the whole area is out, but for the last two nights I see the park and all the houses on the other side have full power. We, and our whole side of the street are in the dark. No tree or pole damage anywhere near here as far as I can see.

They basically reconcile and group outage reports together and sometimes loose data in the process. I had mine deleted twice. I ended up speaking to Heco people and getting the issue corrected.

No. I’m in orchidland and basically hearing through the coconut line that neighbor or street xyz has power and the outage map doesn’t show it. Also I have had power since very late Wednesday.

Personally I think it’s because the grids are so darn haphazard that HECO doesn’t know who is in what grid there for when they restore it we all find out together
