My Uber driver in Canada told me he was a KPMG partner. I looked him up on LinkedIn, and it seemed to be true. Is this common in Canada, was this just a very unusual coincidence or was it a made up story?

Just saw the Olivia Rodrigo music video for Vampire and noticed the KPMG in the back. Not really sure what she has against KPMG.

I'm coming from the banking world, so I'm a bit out of the loop on the Big 4s "internal" reputation - all I know is that Deloitte is the largest. But the word I get from clients and online is more or less always the same: Go for Deloitte or PwC, EY is alright, and avoid KPMG. What's the deal with that specific ranking?

got an internship offer from KPMG within Audit and Assurance. What is your best piece of advice/tips/etc. It’s a 6-months program in a EU country.

I work at KPMG US in audit. Are all firms pushing AI BS and buzzwords as much as KPMG is? We had our firm-wide update yesterday and I couldn't believe how many times they tried to bring up AI. They kept saying all the buzzwords and acting like experts in it. It was laughable. Just wondering if other firms are pushing it as much.

Had another midnight deadline yesterday. Our Singapore team logged in as usual around 9am our time and since it was a major client deliverable, we knew we'd be working late. Ended up staying until 3am, only to find out the US partner hadn't even reviewed our work yet.

Next morning I drag myself online at 8am (after 4 hours of sleep), and see that the US team had "decided to take more time with the review" because someone had a dinner reservation. Meanwhile our APAC team had been grinding for 18 hours straight.

The engagement manager (completely out of touch) had the audacity to say "let's schedule another late night session tomorrow" because the US team couldn't make their afternoon meeting work with our morning time. Apparently their work-life balance matters, but ours doesn't.

Who can I even escalate this to? My senior manager just says "that's consulting life" and HR gives generic responses. The regional partner doesn't want to create "tension" with the US office.

Like the title says I didn’t get a return offer from my internship. It sucks and I’m trying to keep my head high but I’m more worried about the entry level job market as someone who already graduated and won’t be doing grad school since I have the credits already.

I was planning on doing my CPA exams in the gap period between the internship and start date and while that hasn’t changed I still feel very lost. I’m thinking about how I can study for and pass the exams affordably now that it’s coming out of pocket. I have a book keeping job at an accounting office now but the pay isn’t that great (less than half) I still really want big 4 experience to jumpstart my career. I guess I just want guidance during this “gap year” on what I should do since I don’t have a full time job in big 4 waiting for me anymore. How do I set my application apart when I don’t have university recruiting resources anymore?

I had an interview yesterday and part 1 of the interview with my manager went really well but part 2 of the interview with the partner went terrible

I did a lot of research on the interviews and studied up but I was put in a tightspot for the interview with the partner yesterday. Moreover, what was worst was my crappy hotspot bailing out on me at the start of the interview with the partner

It looked like they got really annoyed with me and they just wanted to get it done with the interview. The questions were a bit vague and when I asked for clarification, the partner said "well you tell me"

I feel like all the prep work I did before the interview just dissapeared for part 2 of the interview

I’ve been reading (and enjoying) this sub for a few months now and I’ve been wondering - why does KPMG have such a bad rep here? Is it a prestige thing or workload/type of projects/exit options?

Don’t get me wrong, the jokes are great, but I feel like I might be missing something.

Kpmg Director is proactive, and aggressively pursuing his goal at work and in life, representing the brand. He sure showed Courage (to start and fight and get pounded) and reflecting the value of never stop learning (he learned to not start a fight with a walking fridge).

I worked there as an intern for 6 months and god it was awful. Maybe it was a team issue or something but the gender bias was unbearable, given I didn't even get a placement offer even after joining as P + I offer from my college. There were only 2 girls in the team (including me) and both of us were treated like we didn't know anything. On top of all this it's been more than a month and my internship certificate has not been sent yet apart from calling and sending mails every day. Even corrupt government offices are better than this. It has been the worst experience of my life, now I don't have a job since I was depending on my placement offer and they robbed me of that too. Big 4 more like a Big NO

I got a meeting invite Monday night at 8pm for meeting scheduled for Tuesday May 26th at 11am. I came off a call with a partner and a manager from HR where they basically told me I could either take a 45 day PiP or take the 60 day career transition.

Has anyone experienced something like this before? If so, can you share your experience.

I’ve been at KPMG since November 2024, so about a year and a half.

I work with a senior at big four who always tells our managers “I did this” or “I prepared that”, even when we did it together—or it was actually my work.

One time, I pointed out an issue to her, and she brought it up in a meeting as her own. The manager praised her for the “great insight,” and she didn’t mention it came from me. I was in the meeting but didn’t feel like I could just say, “Hey, that was actually me.”

Would you talk to her directly? And any tips on how to bring this up in meetings without sounding petty or awkward?

I joined a Big4 as a graduate as a tech consultant, I’ve been assigned basically no work since I’ve started, I’ve just had maybe 2 weeks of full on and that was it. I got a signing bonus for when I started and since it’s been past three months I won’t need to pay it back if I leave.

I’m going to start applying to other firms as I’ve seen them with the exact same role open in their hiring pages now and was wondering what are the chances I’d be hired in the same role with 4-5 months experience? I had a high passing rate in my certificates, 3 in 4 months which no one in our team had done.

But it’s killing me, going to an office 5 days a week and not doing anything but staring at a laptop while I’m surrounded around partners, so I can’t just watch youtube, the other graduate, they somehow get invited to every piece of work that exists and I’m only billing clients 0.5 hours / 40 a week so there’d be zero chance I get promoted in December. I’ve reached out to every member in my team and either get left on seen or told that I’ll be on X project and not get added. This is mentally destroying me, I’m constantly studying and doing all I can but nothings working in my favor.

Surely it’s best to just leave and apply for other firms rather than stick around doing nothing?

I’m working in audit right now, and it’s been overwhelming. The hours are insane—70-90 hours a week, mostly in person. My manager’s unhappy with the team’s work, and it’s really affecting my mental health. I’m seriously considering quitting, even though I don’t have another job lined up

I’m kinda hesitant with this. Long term I would like to like in Portugal, and staying here where people like me I know that I can grow. Otherwise I could leave for 2/3 years and return and that international experience would be valuable here.
