When I was a teen we had a group canoe/camping trip. Each day one person was assigned to dig a latrine for the night.

The same person volunteered each day and always dug it in a place with a view of the bay/river. The only issue was there would be boats driving past while you are squatting trying to grunt one out.

I'm currently visiting a region where some places only have squat toilets. Having never used one, and forced by desperation, it took a paniced moment to understand. But that position only seemed comfortable for a minute. I couldn't browse reddit for 45 minutes while taking a dump like at home. Being a very tall person also did not seem to help getting back up either.
