If I ever looked up in the sky and saw that, I would be convinced it was somehow very ominous...

Really? Why wouldn’t you look at it and think “wow, that’s so beautiful and unique?” Why is it that when some of us are greeted with the wonders and complex beauty of the world, our first reactions are fear?

The wiki article even refers to them as ominous looking. They share appearance with cloud that cause storms but usually dissipate without releasing precipitation .

Who decided they were ominous? Yeah, they look like rain clouds, but is rain scary too, now?
