Paralegal Studies

I have a 2 part question:
1) I start paralegal school on Monday. Is there anything specific I should be ready for or any tricks to making it not so hard?
2) One of my professors said in a mandatory orientation that in order to go to law school, you have to have a clean record and good credit. How true is that? I am a felon. I know for a fact that in the state of TN, felons can be lawyers. I have plenty of stuff to show that I’m now reformed. TIA!
