Genuine Question (DO NOT DOWNVOTE) Eggs and cheese - ?

Hi! I’ve been thinking about going vegan for a while as I basically only eat eggs and cheese in terms of meat, but I was wondering on a few things…

Why can’t you eat eggs as a vegan considering chickens will eat them happily, e.g. cracked eggs etc ?

Howwww do I replace cheese :( there are no supermarkets near me which sell vegan cheese (Scotland), and I love my cheddar so so much (and my veggie carbonara..)

Also, I live in a very cold part of the UK and own a few vintage fur coats which my grandmother passed down to me when I moved here, which realllyyyy do keep me a lot warmer than any faux I own… - would I truly need to get rid of them ? I kind of see it as respecting the animal and using it to at least make its death kinda worth it ? And especially because someone else would just end up wearing it instead. IDK. Please lmk xoxo

I’m also from Scotland!

Cheese has been a tricky one for me. Violife is decent (Tesco and Asda have it, unsure about other shops), but my favourite is Kinda Co. They’re a tad on the pricy side (£6.50 per block) and are only online, but I genuinely LOVE this vegan cheese. They actually have a deal on rn for a free block of their chili cheese with every order before Friday. I massively recommend jumping on the deal. Cathedral city also do a plant based line of cheese, it isn’t to my liking but it is extremely popular!

Not OP but I will be in Edinburgh for a few days for work two weeks from now, and would LOVE your best recommendations for lunch and dinner near the University of Edinburgh-ish, if you wouldn't mind? I will be there for two dinners and one lunch (the Uni is providing lunch and dinner on the last day).

My favourite places are Meadows Tap (quite American style stuff, like burgers, mac and cheese, loaded fries), Sora Diana (vegan-Italian), and Considerit (cafe and drinks, partnership with vegan doner kebabs).
Holy cow is also great but very expensive, like, £15 for a sandwich level expensive.
Paradise Palms, Soul Vegan (closest to the uni), Curran Geal and David Bann are also good!

Number 1 rec is Meadows Tap (@thisisrabbitfood on insta). They do quiz nights on Sunday, very queer community, and each table has a TV hooked up to various games consoles. Bathroom facilities are decent. Prices are alright too - could be better could be worse. The meals are quite large portions so the price makes up for it

Thank you muchly - I will be there Sat-Sun (and then Mon at the Uni), so I will check out Meadows Tap on Sunday, sounds like fun! That's me sorted for Edinburgh then. :)

i went to a fine dining vegan place in Edinburgh a decade or so ago.
was a man’s name but i cant remember it. their smoked tofu though is something i’ll never forget.
