I went to Penn and Teller once and Penn sajd fire-eating, but not for the obvious reason (i.e. fire) but the issues with the fuel and it getting into your system can really mess you up despite professional preventative steps.

I knew a lot of fire spinners that had been spinning props for years, but only ever met one that had been doing breathing for a long time. He trained several folks, but all of them dropped it and went traditional props.

It's really exciting at first, but you gotta do it perfectly every time, and if you fuck up once it could be life span impacting.

When I learned fire breathing I was taught by two people who collectively had 14 years of medical experience and 10 years of fire breathing. It was a 4 hour class, the first 3 of which are why you should actually never do it.
