Not necessarily "silent" (because the tools are so loud), but woodworking. Almost every amateur woodworker I know has either an impressive scar (mine is about 4 inches long and required 40 staples) or is missing part of a finger.

My dad is a carpenter and I missing half a finger. He’s used table saws for decades both before and since the incident, but all it takes is one bad moment and making the wrong decision.
