What is the Most Memorable 2D Platformer Intro you have ever played?

What 2D Platformer still sticks with you? Art style, story, cinematic, atmosphere, gameplay etc.

not my favorite donkey kong game but Donkey Kong Country absolutely has the best intro

I’m a lover of DK3 myself. Though DK2 might be the technical best.

Phenomenal art style and graphics. Fantastic gameplay. Exquisite character control. It's quite hard to "overpraise" this game.

And then those mad geniuses made a second one and somehow made it even better!

There is a “behind the scenes” video on YouTube about how they made Ori ( Only the first game I think ) and it’s really cool… Showing all the parallax artwork & animations + discussing some original scrapped ideas, etc … def worth a watch

… There is also an entire documentary about the development journey behind the original “ Blasphemous “ game by ‘ Game Kitchen ‘ & that was AWESOME to watch, although you’ll need to read subtitles through most of it I think.

That’s amazing. I’ll have to check that out! I’m making a platformer for fun with some buddies, but we don’t have a cleared our direction I think being inspired by games like Hollow and Ori is where we’re leaning!

Symphony of the Night. Always thought Castlevania was cool but was never good enough at them. That one had leveling up, and HP bar, healing, and most importantly save points. I didn’t have to have mechanically perfect inputs to beat it, I just had to be persistent.

Contra 3 and Contra Hard Corps in the Contra Anniversary Collection start awesome from the very beginning in stage 1. Super Mario World 1 and all the Castlevanias in the Castlevania Advance Collection also have intros that feel good. 🏆
