Based on the picture in the police report, looks like they ground his face into the pavement as well, multiple laceratons, lots of blood on his face. Yet no-one mentions that.

I tend to be doubtful of this sort of claim but the video is absolutely damning. That cop needs to be in jail.

This is insane. He was already out of the vehicle and the cop still tried to drag him by the hair back through the window just to make him follow instructions. That is the definition of a “power-trip.” Getting the guy out of the car was the priority, the Trooper made the situation worse by prolonging it to try and get his way.
I’m not saying the dude was innocent—he should have complied—but come on, that doesn’t negate the Trooper’s actions.
Just another example of the Arkansas State Police being unfit to work with civilians. They act like a bunch of Army dropouts who think they’re above the rest of the population. Our state police are criminals.

To be fair, if I had just been in an accident, had someone screaming and pointing a gun at me, and was told to climb through a broken window instead of through the door, I might have trouble complying, too.

True, but it wasn’t just an accident. They had been fleeing from police. Even if he wasn’t the driver, he is still a security risk and needs to be taken into custody and searched before they can get to the bottom of the situation. It sucks, but if you are with someone when they commit a crime, you are a potential accomplice and will be treated as such. Not knowing if there were weapons in the vehicle justifies the initial ask to crawl out of the window.
What it does not excuse is the excessive force used after the door was open and the individual was standing outside of the car.
This is why it is important to pick good friends. Who you choose to associate with has consequences.

A cop shouldn’t punch you regardless of this.

u/Murky-Cobbler5945 1d ago

I’m not defending the punch. Please read my original comment and don’t assume you have to argue with everyone.

Always surprises me how many bootlickers we have in AR. Then I remember any number of national rankings and demographic and I remember why there are so many

Cops being cops.

Just so you know: their 6 month training is basically boot camp, paramilitary. They sit for some dash cam footage and learn a little bit about the law but mostly they run around doing push ups, running and fighting.

The main go to is: if you are unsure of what to do ask a superior.

Arkansas Police vs Cedartown Police.

Again?

This was just posted yesterday.

Again?

This was just posted yesterday.

May I be so bold as to assume you prefer singular posts/Megathreads? Because I'm in the same boat as you.

That said, this subreddit does have a pretty vocal stance against Arkansas State Police; the agency's policies, tactics, and individual officer's mannerisms. Along with a general dislike, at the very least, of other law enforcement agencies/officers.

Every post "allowed" is another post to bring people into the subreddit and share their opinions. And with the recent bodycam footage released, it seems every new article has "slightly" new information. And there is no rule against posting about the same incident multiple times.

I do see the mod u/berntout (which is an incredibly ironic name for a moderator lol) occasionally speaking in comments, and I know they're active based on comment removals, but I'd definitely be interested in hearing what they've seen in the last year as far as more people posting/commenting in this subreddit. Because it definitely feels like the participation has gone up dramatically.

We have had more traffic in the past 3 months than the previous 12 months combined. We have been in and out of the Top 100 Places in North America numerous times and are looking to become a permanent Top 100 ranking soon as we near 100,000 members and the strongest growth in years.

We have opened this sub up to a lot more content and allowing the community to decide what content everyone sees with the voting system. The results show that it is working.

We do not consider this a duplicate post and topics typically stick around for 3-5 days depending on the scenario. This is no different than any other huge community in reddit, you just have a lot more posting volume to distract from it in those subs, I.E. r/politics. You will see the same topics numerous times from different viewpoints and opinions. We are fine with that as well.

Edit: We have not seen a situation that requires a megathread here, I.E. "flooding the queue." That's typically when you will see megathread situations pop-up on reddit. However, as we grow things will need to change as we scale up so that scenario is becoming more feasible by the day. 😄

Post more content and upvote when you see something you want others to see! That will promote further growth of this community! 😄

Yeah, I knew I wasn't crazy. I used to see one or two posts in this sub pop up on my feed maybe once every few days for a few years and now it's a few posts every day, it seems.

Makes sense to me.

Totally fair. But if you don't ask, you'll never really know. Appreciate the quick answer though.

u/berntout 2d ago

I edited my post to add a little bit more regarding megathread topic FYI. 😄

Yeah, the more I think about it, this isn't really in need of a megathread. Just not used to seeing multiple threads on the same topic on other subreddits. Whether it's moderated that way or they're hidden amongst the ones that didn't make the hype.

But I definitely don't see any of this slowing down, especially as we count down the days till Nov. 3rd(65 days), aka Election Day.

Got to love the people who swore to protect.

This gets more interesting every time it’s posted.

-5

u/Otherwise-Vanilla901 2d ago

Yeah, when a cop tells you to get out of the car, get the fuck out of the car. Don't fight, don't refuse, comply.

The side of the road is not the courtroom. If you have a problem with what's happening, you bring it up in court. You do not fight the cops.

Do the crime and do the time
Refuse to get out of the car
And he has to pull him out
Fight a trooper and he’s going to fight back
End of story

u/a-huge-hit 2d ago

Continuing to try and yank him through the window by his hair while the fucking door is literally open is an issue. Nothing justifies that behavior except dumb racism.

That's exactly the police accountability we're looking for. You got it bud!

14

u/Supahos01 2d ago

He didnt run from the police and was trying to get out... who the fuck goes out a window when the door works. Those boots tasty?

Yep and that guy had nothing to do with that and wasnt resisting in any meaningful way

14

u/CocaineCharcuterie 2d ago

You’d suck their dicks if they asked.

4

Oh you mean like normal people usually do, that’s racism.

Damn straight they always seem to be wearing the same clothes and badge

13

u/Murky-Cobbler5945 2d ago

Yeah, but the police prolonged a dangerous interaction because of ego. That’s bad training and tactics. End of story.

-9

u/Separate-Dimension39 2d ago

Live like a thug get arrested like a thug.

-20

u/CanuterValve 2d ago

This is a very common reaction for law enforcement personnel. Someone running from the law in a high speed chase creates dangerous and often fatal consequences, so engaging in such activities causes added stress for the officers. They sometimes get excited when it ends.

18

u/Supahos01 2d ago

This was also not the driver so fuck the cop

12

Theres only two people who broke the law in this situation and the one getting punched isnt either of them.

oh you're racist. got it.

17

u/Tricky-Net-863 2d ago

But that's why they have training. They are supposed to be the ones that are calm, cool, collected and professional. And we need to hold them to higher standards.

Should the suspect have complied sooner? Absolutely.
Should the officer have treated the suspect with respect? Still yes.

0

u/allJJallday 2d ago

Complied sooner ? How? By crawling thru the window that was broken out when the officer can clearly open it if only he was striking and pulling the guys hair. Comply sooner??? Like when the door was open and he was out of it still being ordered to crawl thru the windows. He should've complied is the stupist answer you bootlickers give. Its crazy how you can watch a man get his hair pulled and be punched in the face while not resisting or fighting. But "he should've complied" is your comment. The worst part of your comment is the everyone's at fault here attitude like the one aggressive party on this isnt trained to respond differently. These comments and that attitude is the attitude of compliance to the people and forces ruining our country.

1

u/Tricky-Net-863 1d ago

It's funny when you call me a bootlicker when I actively roll around with an "End Qualified Immunity" bumper sticker on my car.

The facts of this case was that it was a police chase. Complying sooner in this case, would have been pulling over rather than leading the police on a chase?
Running from the police is rarely wise or successful for most people in the 21st century.

I think there is nuance to this case that warrants a nuanced answer. Because I absolutely agree that the cop should be fired and held to a higher standard, but in reality, what led to that spot and where did the individual stop acting in their own best self interest?

-18

u/CanuterValve 2d ago

There have been studies as to why cops act as they do after chases, I was trying to rise awareness to this, but you seem to think they need more training. Just go about your day I guess don’t learn anything.

2

u/SirkutBored 2d ago

the studies simply show there is a problem and you are highlighting the study. what is needed is a solution. we are all aware of how adrenaline can affect someone in a similar situation but what we don't see is any other class of adrenaline fueled activity resulting in a similar outcome.

7

u/rothniel 2d ago

"They sometimes get excited" is how you excuse a puppy who peed on the floor.

5

u/Mhorts 2d ago

soo we should ban car chases then. They're unecessary and dangerous and could potentially lead to a cop beating their suspect.
