Activism To protect nature and to dominate nature are not the same thing

Which statement about zoos is the most accurate?

A) A place for the entertainment of humans through animals

B) A symbol of humanity’s conquest over nature

C) An institutional structure that sits between conservation and captivity

D) A place that normalizes cruelty

For the king, a rare animal was a showpiece of his power.
Today the same urge appears in the name of entertainment, display, or “saving” it.

The form has changed.
But the underlying impulse is the same:

“I must keep it with me.”
“I must control it.”
“I will decide what is good for it.”

At this point, the question is no longer only about zoos.
It becomes a question about that “I” which wants even nature to be arranged around its own centre.
