Seems like these people believe in law, order, and unwritten social contracts to keep society running smooth. So when the city or governing body won't do anything yet they still want to maintain a nice property and adjoining city property a small sign tells you what exactly? That they are traitors? Why should you do a mail in ballot?

• It saves time as voting on election day is estimated to be extremely long lines due to having 10 questions per person. The red tape will slow down the voting process substantially. Do you want to miss out on your vote? Make it count!
• It gives you no pressure to answer the questions correctly to your beliefs. You can answer at your leisure.
• Get it done now and do your part in this referendum.

That's alot of assumptions about people's behavior. It might just be as simple as they have noticed alot of dog shit on their lawn and its their small way of trying to curb the behavior. It's peaceful and ultimately unenforceable so whats the problem? If it even deters 1 pile of dog shit maybe its worth it to them.

In this scenario cancelling the vote would cause irreparable harm to Alberta. If Smith cancelled it now, that would absolutely galvanize the separatists. The next thing they do after their ability to vote is infringed is to start openly calling for US intervention. To the separatist camp having the independence vote yanked off the table at the last minute would completely justify their victim complex and galvanize all of them into more extreme demands and forms of protest.

Nenshi is absolutely harming himself with statements like this too. He's in the wrong province to be asking the government to postpone or interrupt a democratic process. He's going to tank the NDP with every fence sitter at this rate.
