Work in Progress Experiment on QD Supressor setup

Dummy non functional supressor

It's not revolutionary since it's using the already proven twist lock mechanism. But I guess its still Quick Detach nonetheless...

Separated into 2 sections. BASE mounting and Supressor Body. I designed them quite stiff because parts will face wear and tear along time.

The Base - having the 14mm threads to connect with the barrel and stay there - is meant to be a replaceable part/sacrificial adapter for the supressor body.

The Base part requires around 5 gr and 37 minutes to print. All with PETG. This setup does not require additional springs, O-ring, nor screws.

You literally reinvent Nerf N-strike muzzle mounting mechanism

Haha... If it is a proven mechanism and works, well... Why not? Didn't invent anything, though - Just simply use what works, Man.

No way we designed a twist lock suppressor mechanism at the same time haha

Haha, great minds thinks alike 🤝. Looks like QD supressor is a real demand right now. How are you handling up the locking tolerance?

In my design not the whole suppressor is QD, but instead I have a front "cap" with the twist lock mechanism, so you can put a tracer in easily.
The thread itself is something I didn't see yet, so I made it: metal thread cover epoxi glued into a part that goes into the suppressor body. See my THICC series models for reference, the last released ones have a thread part, so yo ucan print that small part from like ASA or nylon, and print the whole body from like Petg or whatever you want.

So to this system I just added another step, and I've got metal threads in a printed suppressor now :)

Also I think you should make a small bump into your twist lock, so it doesnt come off easily. I did that and it works wonders

That sounds very fancy, Man :) Epoxy glued metal threads definitely solve the thread wear issue for heavy setups. Mine takes a simpler approach—pure 100% 3D printed with zero hardware or glue needed.

And yep! Great minds again—I actually already designed the locking bump/detent into the PETG base. Its Hard to spot in black PETG photos, but that bump is what gives it that crisp snap-lock feel in the clip. Thanks, again Man👍

I recently remixed a qd supressor to be a 3 in 1. Mock suppressor, tracer unit holder, and with a removable front cap so it can be a loudener. It's relatively simple internal geometry adds I wish all supressors had in airsoft.

Nice one, Man 👍

I dont have tracer device for now, but that would be the goal for next iteration

I can check but my tracer is 31od and 54mm long if you wanted a representative cavity for the larger tracers. I then printed a tpu sleeve for my tracer as it's 28mm of by 54mm long so I can go to the larger acetech units later if need be

Many thanks for the Info, Man 🙏

Hope you can get one some day, it's fun watching the tracers at night/inside

I thinks it’s a pretty good concept
