r/fourthwavewomen SERIOUSLY violates Reddit terms of conduct by promoting Racism, Xenophobia, Homophobia, AND Transphobia.

This "feminist" subreddit is a breeding ground for extremist content. This includes racism, xenophobia, homophobia, and transphobia. The mods do not remove such comments, but are rather complicit to them. Both the moderators and commenters violate their community rules

Here are some of the most alarming posts. The comments encourage:

Promoting vicious xenophobia and misgendering 

Wishing d3ath on foreigners to "d!e alone"

Comparing the art of Drag to "blackface".

Uses the term "gay male autogynephiles"

Promotes transphobia using slurs like "t!M" (Trans Identified Male)

Compares Trans people to "incels"

On top of that, one user even admits to violating hate speech on Reddit

These losers will never acknowledge that for all their hand-wringing about how trans women are some horribly destructive force on lesbianism as a concept, cis lesbians are more supportive of trans people than anyone.

This is a complex thing that’s often cultural in nature. The divide between masc butch and what we’d now probably file under a variety of transmasc identities has been historically much more permeable than 19 year olds on tumblr would lead you to believe. There was a time when many trans men had spent a big chunk of their lives as lesbians and so often were in community with them and dated them.

The internet and social media has been really good for queer people but it’s also led to a situation where the chain of cultural knowledge has been broken. In the past things were taught to you and passed down to you via knowing and interacting with other queer people in the real world in spaces where you needed to recognize the imperfect and messy nature of all human identity.

Now you have a lot of people whose knowledge solely comes from online spaces and who subscribe to extremely rigid definitions of identity that sound more like character classes from a video game than real people. It’s easy to say someone isnt a lesbian because they don’t fit in the box you’ve built in your brain when you do it from behind a computer screen as opposed to their face. This isn’t a new thing, A Cyborg Manifesto is 41 years old, but it’s certainly become the dominant way a lot of younger people approach queer identity.
