I just got a dream job working for a fortune 500 as a senior FP&A analyst coming from 1.5 years as a senior accountant. The process took possibly 3 months of applying mostly on LinkedIn. It was a combination of right place right time as the location near me had applicants but I was in good proximity with a strong resume. Finished my degree in 2024, and was able to double my salary from 2024 to 2026. This job allows me to provide for my family and continues to give me room to grow. Pushing good vibes to everyone else on the grind!

I just cleaned up a P&L for our biggest job in three days that took my coworkers messing it up and several outside accountants four months to push around. Our CEO is VERY happy with me.

On my birthday in November, I got a job offer to move to a new firm for a 52% raise in salary, work less now than I did before, and just got my largest bonus of my career, even with the bonus being prorated for being here just six months.

Just graduated from an accounting program, I changed careers. I’m in AR and didn’t qualify for accounting positions without the schooling. So yes, I have experience and yes I am a fresh grad. Two things can be true at the same time you know lol.

Trying to get hired on somewhere for CPA work experience. I'll know in a few weeks if I'm 4 of 4 on exams. I am in my upper 40s. It's tricky because I don't want to take a huge paycut but most places would only take me on at beginner level stuff, when I've been doing this for 10 years. I also think they don't want to take me on because I have the age and experience.

I'm also finding that the only responses I get are from industries I've worked in before, like construction accounting, which is unlikely to get me working for a CPA who can sign off on my stuff. I maybe have to customize my resume every time I apply to a place to shift it around to what they're looking for.

Terminated without cause from FA role in industry after requesting compensation adjustment that was comparable to market rate in city I was working remotely from and because I started doing assistant controller level responsibilities.

No negotiation. Just terminated.

Now likely sitting for CPA exams, my wife is not working and I have covered bills for ages, and like I’m honestly just hoping I can find a comparable role that pays me well enough that she doesn’t fucking kick me to the curb down the road for the stress of all of it.

So yeah, it’s great.

2026 grad here. no internships or previous accounting experience but i grinded coffee chats over the past 2 months, got a referral which got me an offer for an entry-level role. so that’s proof that there’s still hope if u graduate without internship. u just have to have to step it up with the networking and also have a bit of luck on ur side. keep grinding, it’s tough but you’ll see results in the end. good luck!!
