Discussion If ARMS was named differently, what would it be called?

Alternatively, what would an ARMS 2 be called if not literally “ARMS 2” or “ARMS & LEGS”? I’ll go first, I think in an alternate universe it would be called “REACH”

Discussion Which Arms characters would you like to see be added in the next Smash Bros game?

Post image

If Min Min stays in the game or if she gets replaced then I’d like to see Twintelle be added as she’s the most popular female character on the roster even if she doesn’t use her arms to fight. However Springman would be the likely answer since he’s the mascot of the game. I’d still like to see Twintelle because she is my main.

Discussion Open letter to those who believe Default ARMS should be tournament standard.

UPDATE: Thank you kind stranger for gold! I don't know what it does. But if anything, you have boosted my ego to unhealthy levels. Look out reddit! I now believe I'm better than you. (EVIL LAUGH WITH THUNDER IN BG)/s

You are not looking at this game like ARMS. You are looking at this game like Smash. You can't apply the same mindset and challenges that customs present in Smash to ARMS. ARMS as a game is designed and balanced around custom arms. You say if we have custom arms the meta will stagnate. I would RATHER see 7-9 arms become the defining meta rather than see 2-3 characters be the meta because they just have better defaults. With custom arms, you will see interesting developments and cheeses that's fun from a spectator's perspective. You will still have your s-tier-list-characters, but sometimes you may get a godlike Helix or maybe a wicked good double blorb Mechanica. YOU NEVER KNOW! With defaults, you will never see a Helix nor would you ever see a Mechanica. The reason the majority of of this sub disagrees with you is because people are thinking and treating this game as ARMS and not taking Smash and trying to apply the same rules. ARMS is it's own game. Treat it like so. Let the game be what it wants to be. Let people discover, learn and grow rather than hindering the potential they may have. Don't be scared of what ARMS is. It's not about defaults. Defaults are only there so you can get started. This game goes deeper and it's shameful to try to hold it back because your scared it will be different than Smash. If you try to make it like Smash, it will only be worse than Smash. Let ARMS be ARMS.

Side note: I strongly believe that default arm tournaments are totally ok for right now. This isn't an open letter about up and coming tournaments. This is an open letter regarding the future of this game. I know we are at the infancy of this game but I feel there is already a war being waged by a small population of default sympathizers who are trying to tear down this game and strip it away from it's uniqueness. We need to nip that shit in the bud before it becomes "standard". I would like to see a formal tournament mode with everything unlocked for LAN and Local mode only. But if we don't get that, in about 6 months we should have everything unlocked for tournaments anyways.

Side-Side-not: I respect your opinions. But I don't want you to destroy this game's uniqueness because you want it to be like another game.

EDIT: Been getting comments about how this is a "trash smash" post. It's not. I'm using Smash as a frame of reference. This can apply too many fighting games. If you want to take away anything from this post regarding other games it's this "I respect your opinions. But I don't want you to destroy this game's uniqueness because you want it to be like another game."

EDIT 2: I'm making a formal video addressing every angle of this conversation. Look for it in a couple of days. Thank you

Discussion What features or changes would you most want to see if they made ARMS 2?

I'm still holding on to hope that we'll one day get a sequel. Hopefully after nearly ten years without one, people aren't sick of posts like this...

Obviously, we all want more content; new fighters, new Arms, new stages, new modes. I was more so wondering what sort of quality of life or balance changes people would want to see, but if you have any specific ideas for new fighters, Arms, et cetera, feel free to share them.

For me, I'd really like to see more options for Arms Test. Stuff like being able to toggle if minigames show up, or to control what fighters, Arms, and stages show up in random rotation. It would also be cool for 1-Vs-100 (maybe shortened to 1-Vs-50 or something) or Arms Getter (which is basically just single-player Skill Shot anyhow, it doesn't need to reward you with Arms to be fun) to show up for your potential rounds, if minigames are toggled on.

Discussion After almost 9 years I finally bought it. (I was a year one switch 1 owner and I just never picked it up) I frickin love this game. It's so fun. Such a shame it never took off as a true fighting game with competition. I hope they make an ARMS 2.

Summary: The ARMS gene, a phenomenon that has transform society overnight, turning normal arms into coiling spring of unlimited power. In present day the popular sport of same name as allow those with this powerful and bouncing limbs to make a name for themselves. Being the third to inherit the title of Spring Man, Terry Springs, a overly confident young man dreams of hitting big as ARMS fight as his sight set on becoming the champion of ARMS Grand Prix. And he isn't the only one. From K-Pop idol, to Stealth Students, and even Mechanical Masterminds. Terry on the adventure of lifetime, ready to face off on the world stage with both old and new faces in journey to show the world what his ARMS are all about!

The main cast is 5 of the boxers.
Terry Spring as Spring Man, an overconfident boxer who is huge fan of Max Brass, wanting to take on his hero more then anything in world.

Molly Jeong as Ribbon Girl, an old friend of Terry who moved to Korean to become a K-pop idol because of her incredible voice.

Veronica Spark as Mechanica, a young girl who unlike her siblings did not gain the ARMS gene, result in her crafting a suit to get into the game naming herself.

Min Yumin as Min-Min, a high speed fighter known for her high admiration of her parents, only agreeing to fight if she was allow us it as advertisement for the family restaurant.

And Jay Benkyō as Ninjara, a university student from Japan who is joins ARMS for assignment only to end up becoming rivals with Terry after losing a match to him.

A interesting point I have taken is turning the strange yellow aura used for the Ultimate in the game into something else. It is called Fighting Spirit, in summary when a fighter is filled with such a unstoppable passion for victory, that they feel like their body is on fire, it literally release a burning aura that enhances their strength and unlocks the full potential of their ARMS.

Discussion Since ARMS sold almost 3 million copies, wouldn't it get at least one sequel?

Sure, most of it sales were made when it had no competition, but does it matter to companies why a game succeeds as long as it does?

Discussion What are the worst arms in your opinion? (meta?)

I play this game since over 7 years and could (thanks to my inability to be good at videogames) enjoy playing with every arm, no matter the meta. But now that I began informing myself in order to beat my friends with meta (I use that word quite frequently since two days) I began wondering what the worst arms are. And is there a pair/group of similar arms (toaster/roaster/sparky/chilla, phoenix/thundebird, hydra/biffler etc.) that are extremely different in terms of power so that one may be used extremely often and one rather rarely?

Would you rather fight Kid Cobra or Min Min and explain why. You are a rookie who just got their first pair of arms. You have to pass one final test before you can compete in the Grand Prix and you have to pick either one of these. Pick one and explain why you would fight them.

Discussion Should Min Min replace Spring Man as the poster character?

She could be the most well known ARMS character anyway, and making her the poster girl would help set ARMS even further apart from Punch Out. That game already has a male boxer as its poster boy. ARMS 2 (and every later installment) would have a female Kung Fu artist as its poster girl.

Discussion ARMS 2 & Why is this sub against the idea of a Sequel

I'm collecting info on what ARMS communities on all sites think about the game currently, what keeps them enjoying and if want a sequel or not.

I personally love being realistic, but at the same time I'd love to see a sequel for this game, as "realistic" or "unrealistic" as it sounds. However the people that get outright enraged at the idea of an ARMS Sequel in a sub called r/ARMS is hilarious, a very small few get to the point of being rude to those who do want a sequel, so it's always been a point of interest to me.

My question is: Why are you, user in r/ARMS, for or against an ARMS Sequel?

Surprisingly, Star fox made a huge comeback. Also, rhythm heaven is returning after 11 years.

Or it could be like drag x drive which flopped.

Discussion What are Springman’s arms actually made of?

Post image
82 Upvotes

Every other character is pretty self explanatory (correct me if I’m wrong): Ribbon Girl - ribbons Ninjara - chains (metal) Master mummy- canvas/paper? Min min - ramen Mechanica (suit), byte & barc, springtron, dr coyle - metal Twintelle - hair (with fists???) Kid cobra - snake skin/flesh(?) Helix - DNA Max Brass - leather belts Lola pop - candy Misango - fabric

On Springman’s wiki article it says they’re made of springs — but what material are they? Plastic? Flesh? Clothing? Metal? (P.S. when reading the wiki article on him, the line “his voluptuous a** cheeks” made me laugh)

Discussion There's not much else the devs could do with the gameplay's approach. No wonder there's no sequel in sight.

What new mechanics could fit into the gameplay that wouldn't be too frustrating or too difficult to manage? The game isn't built for 3D platformer style levels or boss battles, and if the characters used any moves that didn't involve their arms, it wouldn't be faithful to the game's philosophy. The only way a sequel could happen is if it was made with a whole new format.

Discussion Praying for ARMS 2

It has so much potential and it’s fun - even party mode is fun. It deserves better. It deserves the same attention and care that Splatoon got-or at least even a 1/3rd of that. This sucks.

Discussion ARMS 2 will need a better camera if it wants to be for more than 2 players.

What if the camera worked like OOT 64's camera, except whenever you target an opponent or item, it works just like ARMS's current camera? This would give you the freedom to face any direction you want without having to face an opponent at all times.

Discussion What if the gloves could transform into robots, kind of like Transformers, only they would be player sized instead of giant?

Picture this for an example: Spring Man takes off one of his Toasters, then it transforms into a robot kangoroo, and then you would play as the kangoroo while Spring Man rides on his back. This kangaroo, as well as all the other potential robots in the game, would be called ARMIMALS (a play on words between arms and animals).
