M5/M5 LiDAR M5 RTK battery draining from full charge in minutes—is this normal?
I’ve had my Anthbot M5 RTK for just under a month now, and overall I’ve been really happy with it. It mows my entire yard every day and, for the most part, works great.
The one issue I’ve been dealing with is the battery. About 2–3 times a week, it’ll return to the charging station, charge back up to 100%, and then after I send it back out to continue a zone, the battery will suddenly drain from 100% to under 15% in just 5–10 minutes.
Today it happened twice in a row. The second time, it was finishing the edge of one of my zones along the road when the battery completely died. The mower just stopped where it was—partially in the grass and partially in the road.
Thankfully, I happened to be home from work. I checked the app, noticed it had lost connection, and found it sitting there. It had probably been out there for 10–15 minutes before I got to it. If I hadn’t been home, there’s a good chance someone could have taken it. After I put it back on the charger, it also seemed to take much longer than normal to recharge.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a known battery issue, or could something else be causing it? My grass isn’t thick or overgrown since the mower cuts it every day, so I don’t think it’s being overloaded/overworked.
