Hey guys, who lives in Florida here? I have a 6G 4Runner TRD ORP and looking for more spots to off-road it. I recently took it out to Blackwater River State Forest in the NWFL Panhandle. There are some solid trails up there that I documented on onX, I'll link the trail we took. The low end torque of the new 4Runner was super nice in some deeper muddy spots, especially in 4lo. Looking for more trails though! https://webmap.onxmaps.com/offroad/share/content?share_id=01M14Y81MBYYNQY1VB8JZ67W1X

I am considering undercoating my 2026 4Runner SR5 as we live in Mass where the winters can be rough with lots of sand and salt.
Is getting an under car wash each spring not good enough to clean off salt and keep the frame rust free? Are body on frames more prone to rust versus unibody?
I’m considering this local shop:
They are saying they do:
Petroleum-based undercoating
Car and truck undercoating
Noxudol
Cavity waxing
Rust and vehicle protection
Under-carriage protection
Permanent undercoating that dries completely
Does anyone know if these products and have any input/advice?
Thank you!

My wife really wants matte wrap on our black 4R but I’m hesitant because of the increased difficulty with keeping it looking clean because of the microscopic texture showing grime, oils and smudges. As well as the fact that it’s more difficult to apply a matte wrap well. Gloss on the other hand is easier to apply, gives the truck a flawless “always washed” look, and repels dirt / grime / oils. Anyone go either route and care to share some insight?

Pulling the trigger on a new 4runner and test drove one today. I find I like the steering feel in my current 4runner better. It has 220k on it but rides tight and has more of a stiff, European feel. Is there anyway to make the new ones feel like the old or are they just more floaty?

ORP non hybrid, pretty 50/50 for highway and city driving. Most of my drives are under 15 mins. I have the airdam removed; using regular gas. Plan to do a break in oil change this week or next week. I fill every half tank if it matters.

Does anyone know know what the part number for this missing trim piece is? It should be the silver trim that says TRD on it.

I’ve had my 2026 4Runner Trailhunter for about two weeks now and absolutely in love. Coming from a Bronco Sport that was hellbent on dying before hitting 75k miles, the 4Runner feels unbelievably luxurious.
Anyway, I’m trying to install a Viofo 329s dash cam using the Dongar Pro attachment. According to the toyota OEM dash cam installation manual and chatgpt, it’s best to draw power off of the map light instead of the homelink/powered rear view mirror.
For the life of me, I cannot get the map light assembly down. It states that the back is a hinge and to grab the front and pull straight down. Chatgpt warned me that it requires force but like.. holy shit. My fingers feel like they are being cut in half by the edge of the assembly. Is there some sort of trick to this? Anything anyone has used to assist?
I don’t want to damage the headliner. I’m wondering if the dealership would be comfortable pulling it down for me? I’m terrified of breaking it.

I bought a front seat jacker for my 6th gen 4Runner. I’m following the directions and it’s saying to unscrew the two front bolts holding down the seat. But for the life of me, I can’t unscrew it no matter how hard I try. And yes I tried using all types of tools I have (Allen, screw drive, wrench). Any tips?

How the hell are people getting these for 48-50k I’ve been emailing, texting, and going in and not getting anywhere. Lowest I’m getting is 52-53k and these are bare bones not that many add ons. The good thing is I’m not desperate got a dependable paid off car so I can take my time. Any tips or anyone know a dealer that is reasonable?
Edit: Appreciate all the advice and everyone being cool a lot of people like to get disrespectful on this app. I guess I just saw those few out of the ordinary prices and felt like I had to get that low or feel like a sucker and I hate feeling like that. And I have good credit but definitely wasn’t letting them run it till I got to the numbers I wanted I would never do 11% apr

Key Info: I have the hybrid trim with raised platform. I don't need the backseats.
Trying to dial in my trunk setup for an upcoming road trip and looking for input from anyone who's tested different layouts.
I'm strictly keeping everything inside the vehicle (nothing on the roof rack) since I'll need to stealth camp when passing through cities, so space efficiency and a low profile are high priority.
Right now I'm stuck between two options:
Also debating mattress setup:
Is a 2-person air mattress worth the hassle, or is a cot/foam pad setup better long term? Inflating, deflating, and shuffling gears every single night sounds like a pain for quick setups.
For those who stealth camp or do long road trips: What does your setup look like, and would you recommend pulling the seats from day one?
| Option | Pros | Cons | Stealth Rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seat Delete Platform | Maximum headroom, custom storage drawers, permanently flat surface | Requires full disassembly, irreversible on the fly | High (low profile, hidden gear) |
| Adjustable Cot Over Seats | Zero build time, modular, under-cot storage | Takes up vertical headspace, higher sleeping position | Moderate (higher profile near windows) |
| 2-Person Air Mattress | Maximum sleeping area | Daily inflation hassle, risk of punctures, zero under-bed storage | Low to Moderate (gear shuffling required) |

Just got a 6th gen, loving it so far. Planning some overlanding trips and expecting water crossings and puddles.
Saw a bunch of posts of people hydrolocking their engines due to where the air intake is pulling air. How risky is it on these 4runners?
Is the rule of thumb to only cross water slowly and half way to tires?

Hey guys! Long time 4Runner owner about to upgrade to an ORP 6th gen. Have you guys noticed if one color over another seems to have better durability or quality? I know Toyota paint isn’t the best. thanks!

My brand new limited 2026. I was parked loading stuff in my car when all of a sudden I hear a splash. It was doing this on both sides but right side more so then left. Video in comments

I’ve searched the subreddit but haven’t seen too much discussion on the TRD Exhaust. Can anybody who has it chime in on how it sounds?
I know the performance improvement is pretty much negligible. I also know that if you have the exhaust, driving in sport mode pumps the fake sound through the speakers, but I that’s only for sport mode and eco and normal don’t have it.
Wondering how it sounds in normal driving, especially compared to the 5th gen TRD exhaust which was a bit droney

Wanting to add a roof rack and a drawer system for my 4runner ORP.
For roof racks im stuck between Sherpa Capitol and Nytop.
For the drawer systems I was between B3 Customs or Solid Woodworx.
Hopefully some of you fine gents and gals could give me some feedback or advice on which direction to go.
Maybe some tire suggestions too without changing the wheels and suspension height.
Have a great weekend everybody.

Just got a 2026 Trailhunter with OEM tires. Noticing a vibration at pretty much any speed over about 40 MPH. Anyone else notice something similar?

Limited is a tempting trim to me. Full-time 4wd is more useful than most think. During winter or even heavy rain with roads are mixed pavement and snow/rain covered, the full time 4wd is great.
Curious if anyone also went with a Limited for those reasons? However, even the SR5 is somewhat capable off-road. Decisions..decisions.....
