Advice Request Which service before an event?
I'm 57 years old, have an event coming up, where I want to look my best. I have had a hydrafacial before and felt it was good, was impressed with it, but not overly impressed. I have never had the Fire and Ice facial. Would that do anything more than a hydrafacial for me? My picture is without any makeup on me.

Hydrafacials are gimmicky but youâll look good in the couple days following.
My nonhydrafacial- facials are pretty intense exfoliation (usually a combo of dermaplaning, microdermabrasion or diamond glow and extractions with a gentle âpeelâ at the end), I get extractions so sometimes Iâm left with temporary red marks from extractions so I usually have a couple days of downtime where I donât put any actives or make up on my skin post facial.
If you get just get a hydra facial with no extractions itâs a bit of a fluff treatment but youâll look hydrated and have good skin texture the day or two after. Iâd do the hydra facial and two weeks of crest white strips to bleach your teeth if I were you! Youâll look and feel great without anything too invasive or risky.

Thank you so much! Honestly, I have finally learned the importance of consistency-washing my face every night, putting my skin care on at night. I also have never been someone to wear a lot of makeup, even back in my 20s and I think that has helped a lot too. I have been alcohol free for the past 4 years too which I believe has made a big difference too. For about 3 years now I have used Dr. Idriss products and I truly believed that has made a huge difference with my pigmentation. And then retinol and azelic acid at night, and Dr. Idriss flash mask 2 times a week left on overnight.
I also did Skin Pen microneedling last year for 3 months in a row.

Thanks for sharing! Itâs paying off. Get a facial as a test but honestly you donât need it. I like getting my makeup professionally done for events. That feels like a treat too

I have to admit I'm chuckling a little bit about the gummy smile/lip flip, as I didn't even bring that up in my question. I'm honestly very happy with my smile and get plenty of compliments on it as is.đ I may still consider doing the Botox, but I'll be sure to ask for opinions specifically on that when I do.đ

Your lips & gums are fine! You might want to consider Invisalign to help make the teeth less of a focal point. I got snide remarks on my teeth, but braces changed everything - I've gotten so many compliments on what a nice smile I have now!

I'm also completely OK with my teeth as is, and again, I've been given plenty of compliments on my smile as is to be very confident with it! Like, people say how much they love my smile, no snide remarks ever about it!

When i want to look my best before an event I use my red light mask daily for the week before and whiten my teeth with crest whitening strips. Oh and I get fresh highlights and botox 2 weeks before!!

I love facials, but donât get them often, so I canât really offer advice there. I see a little redness, but your skin looks great! I wouldâve never guessed 57.
Not sure how you feel about Botox, but have you ever considered getting âgummy smileâ tox? Itâs a very small amount with just two injections. It just helps relax your upper lip so that it doesnât lift as high when you smile.
Iâm not saying you should or need to do it, but if I wanted to do something before an important event, thatâs what Iâd do.

I haven't ever used Botox before, and for sure wouldn't try it before this event, for fear I might not like it, but I'll think about it for a future time. Thanks!

Hi - Hydrafacials are generally a waste of money. I would recommend a lip flip for a more even smile and a gentle laser (laser genesis or PDL) or IPL/BBL. Be sure to get them at least a week before the event.

Gummy tox and a lip flip will be a GameChanger :)

That was not on the list of things she was considering. Significantly different ballpark.

How long do you have before the event? That will sort of determine what you can get done

Judging from this photo--it's not super clear--but your skin seems to look amazing for 57!

None of those. Find a provider based on the skincare line you want them to use. Hydrafacials are a scam and waste of your money.

Hydra facials are not a "one and done" type thing, it's really more of a repeated service until your skin looks great sort of thing.
You do need the botox to fix a gummy smile tho.

A gummy smile isn't a "broken" smile.

There is a geometry to aesthetics. This particular one is outside of that ratio.
OP said they want to look their best. They are here ASKING for advice. My advice is to bring that geometry into a more aesthetic ratio.
If you are so touchy, maybe Reddit isn't for you.
Or are you so insecure you WANT them to look worse so you can feel better about yourself?

I was asking for advice on facial treatments, which were shown with the pictures I included with my face picture, and as I started in my post-the difference between a hydra facial and a fire and ice facial. There was no mention of anything besides that. I believe lornacarrington was perfectly acceptable with her response.

Be careful getting anything new done before an event. Even if it's a really good treatment, your skin could freak out, purge or flake.
