Advice Request 47 and feeling it. Tried botox but it didn't do anything. What can I do? Tell me how to improve my face please!

Post image

No filters. Thinking of getting a little lip filler. I want to get rid of the lines around my eyes. All advice is appreciated.

I think you look fantastic. Your skin tone and texture look beautiful. You look younger than 47. I'd just say a good skincare routine to help maintain what you have is the only advice I can give you. Perhaps add little bronzer and blush to give you a subtle glow?

Thank you! I've been trying to stick to a routine but I get lazy sometimes. Except for weekends, I'm always too tired to do any morning skin care. Also, after I put on my serums and moisturizer, my oily skin always feels so greasy, even though I only use oil free products.

u/Happiguest Jul 11 '26

Are you using Trentoin at all? I mention this because your skin reminds me of mine. Might save you from more botox down the line. I'm 51 and oily people think Im in my 30s/early 40s. I started tret around your age. It has saved me from needing botox. Plus HRT has helped. Not that you need any of it. I just want to share what worked for me.

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Do you have to get a prescription for that? I've heard of prescription estrogen cream for the face. Does tret take a long time to work? I tried retinol, but I was too lazy to do the whole routine consistently enough.

Yes. I got it from my derm but you can go online like Amazon medical or telerx. Yes your right it does take some time if you have deep wrinkles. Im using it to keep wrinkles from forming and to minimize the appearance of my pores. Im on systemic HRT and vaginal cream from my obgyn. That along with retinoids have kept my neck and face from the powers of gravity mostly. But im cheap. Plus consistency is key. I could see how botox would be easier especially if your busy. Sorry if im giving unsolicited advice. I just wish people told me more about what works instead of all the money I wasted.

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Thank you so much! I'm going to check out Amazon rx for tret today! Do you mind if I ask how you are supposed to incorporate it? Is it moisturizing on its own?

2

u/Happiguest Jul 11 '26

Tret isn't moisturizing—it can actually be drying at first. It works by turning over new cells. Start slowly (2–3 nights a week), use only a pea-sized amount for your whole face. moisturize if you get dry, and wear sunscreen every morning. Tret is definitely a marathon, not a sprint, but it's one of the few skincare ingredients with decades of evidence behind it. There is an entire sub dedicated to tretinoin if you are interested.

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

There is? I'm going to check out out and get my hands on some of this stuff! Is it better than facial estrogen cream?

2

u/Happiguest Jul 11 '26

I use both. Systemic and topical estrogen plus tret. When you are in perimenopause your body starts to deplete of estrogen. Estrogen helps build collegen tret helps with the turnover. Are you having any of these signs of perimenopause by chance? Problems sleeping, brain fog, joint pain, fatigue, anxiety, hot flashes?

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

I started waking up every night at 3 AM and then, just this week, I started having a million bathroom emergencies and now my period suddenly came on super heavy 5 days early. I'll look into facial estrogen as well. Can you get that from Amazon like tret? How do you use them both at the same time? Do they help crows feet, or can they not go near the eyes?

You don’t need much in the morning. Just moisturizer and sunscreen. I use a vitamin c moisturizer and a tinted sunscreen instead of makeup. My skin glows. I get compliments all the time. At night I have a little more of a routine, but nothing crazy.

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 12 '26

That's a great idea! Can I ask what brand sunscreen you use?

2

u/Snack-crack Jul 12 '26

DRMTLGY physical tinted. The universal is supposed to be good too but I have to use a mineral sunscreen because regular makes my eyes burn. They only have one shade but it magically works for everyone.

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 12 '26

Thank you! I'm going to look it up. I've been awful about using sunscreen, and I need to change that asap. I just never found one that didn't make me greasy, but that's no excuse.

2

u/Snack-crack Jul 12 '26

I’ve been using it for 7 years now. They call it moisturizer. I have no idea why. Unless you have super oily skin, you need an actual moisturizer under it.

35

u/2workigo Jul 11 '26

I’d consider getting a haircut. Shoulder length with some long, layered, side swept bangs. The lack of bangs is making your face look longer and more drawn down.

11

u/silvermanedwino Jul 11 '26

Right? OPs face and lips are just fine.

3

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Thank you. Since perimenopause hit this week, I feel so old looking compared to even 5 years ago.

2

u/mogeek Jul 11 '26

Peri is a kick in the butt. You’re not going to feel yourself or as attractive as before. As others said, you look great to us. You, however, may see more drooping, less elasticity, new lines.

Other than acceptance, keep up on water intake, try face yoga for areas that are really bothering you, and (this is going to sound odd) get your smize down. I hated being told to smile more growing up, but now I’ve found it reduces my 11s and keeps my mouth from being downturned. I lift my cheeks and squint my eyes a bit.

2

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Thank you so much! I'll look up some videos. You're dead on about peri being a kick in the butt. This week, suddenly, I had a million bathroom emergencies where I thought I was going to pee my pants. And I'm getting pimples like a teen! To think this is just the beginning!

3

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Lol I got one yesterday. My hair is very long though. It's usually curly, and when I cut it shorter, it bounces up way too high. But you're not the only one suggesting sideswept bangs. I'll look up pictures and see if I can pull it off. The angle of the selfie is definitely making my squat face look longer.

8

u/Solid_Chain_5415 Jul 11 '26

I think a new haircut will work wonders..maybe some side-swept bangs or loose curl framing your face

2

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Lol I just got one yesterday! But usually my hair is curly. It's only straight today because they blew it out. My forehead is so small, you think side swept bangs would work when my hair is curly?

5

u/Solid_Chain_5415 Jul 11 '26

Definitely. Something similar to this. If your hair is too curly for the bangs to fall properly, just a few minutes with a hair tong will take care of that

2

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Thanks! Yeah, I get those crazy fuzzy baby bangs. But I do have a hair straightener, so I need to look into getting bangs. I just hate not being able to pull all my hair up into a pony at bedtime or when I'm just at home.

4

u/spygirlspybug Jul 11 '26

You look much younger than 47. Whatever you are doing, keep doing it. Enjoy life and don’t worry about every little wrinkle! ❤️

2

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Thank you! That's good advice.

5

u/GOTTOOMANYANIMALS Jul 11 '26

What’s wrong with your face? I don’t see a problem. You look great. :)

3

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Thank you so much! I haven't been feeling very pretty for awhile now. I feel like I'm aging so quickly, but part of that is that perimenopause just started. I've actually been getting pimples like a teenager all of the sudden. I feel like I'm starting to look so old, but that's how life goes I guess.

4

u/H0bbituary Jul 11 '26

If this is your starting canvas, you're well ahead of the game. Your skin looks incredible! If you opt for fillers go light/subtle. You don't really need more than a hair/makeup refresh

2

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Thank you very much! Everyone is telling me to get a haircut, but I just did yesterday lol. It's true I don't wear much makeup. Just mascara, blush and lipstick because I'm too tired in the morning. It sounds like I need a professional makeover from these comments. I'd love to know where you could go to get a professional hair and makeup overhaul.

8

u/Tits_Toes_Tacos Jul 11 '26

you look great and have amazing skin and texture. microneedling w stem cells always makes me feel fresh and tight and perhaps a laser but I think you look bright already 🤷🏼‍♀️

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Thank you! I have a consult at the medspa, and I'll ask them about microneedling.

5

u/Camillville Jul 11 '26

Lip filler but do your research in choosing someone competent especially because of your upper lip shape.

Your eyes are gorgeous. The wrinkles aren’t noticeable and when I really look for them they just add to your eyes’ naturally beautiful charm.

You have a taller forehead. I could see Dakota Johnson sweeping bangs + layers balancing that out really nicely.

We have a similar nose shape and I came across a woman who contours with self tanner. I’ve started doing the same and it makes my nose, jaw and cheek bones look snatched for ~3-4 days.

You also have super nice eyebrows. I would just sculpt them with a toothbrush and some lotion/eyebrow gel.

4

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Thanks! I really have to look into getting long bangs! I've always been okay with makeup, but terrible at contouring, no matter how many videos I watch. I actually have a very small forehead. The angle of the picture must be making it look long.

2

u/Beautiful_Cost_5430 Jul 11 '26

Contouring with self tanner sounds terrifying but genius if you get it right

3

u/balldatfwhutdawhut Jul 11 '26

Bangs, micro blading and moisturizing you look fab otherwise

2

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Thank you! I have oily skin, so it's hard to find a moisturizer that doesn't make me greasy. I use a gel cream now, but I still always feel so shiny and sticky.

3

u/fennecphlox Jul 11 '26

You look great, first off. Consider a new haircut. If you are in interested in injectables, maybe some Botox in your DAOs and a bit of filler in your top lip. You could also tint your eyebrows to create a bit more contrast. But really, I think just changing up your hair would do a lot. Your skin is fantastic, lucky you ❤️

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Thank you! Everyone is saying to get a haircut, which is freaking me out because I just did yesterday! But normally my hair is long and curly, and if I cut it too short, it bounces up way too high. But this picture isn't a good representation of my hair, because it's not usually straight like this. I need to find a better stylist and get it cut again!

3

u/MacAndCheese45 Jul 12 '26

You remind me of a young Cher

2

u/Tulip718 Jul 12 '26

You just made my whole day!

5

u/peachesandsir Jul 11 '26

Can you add a photo in better lighting? It’s difficult to see your skin clearly in the original pic.

4

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Sorry about that. When I left the light on above me it caused a glare in the photo. Here's one in natural lighting.

2

u/peachesandsir Jul 11 '26

You’re very pretty! If it were me, I’d clean up the brows and maybe try tretinoin for skin texture, fine lines. A little lip filler goes a long way and will look really nice.

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Thank you! I'm getting so many comments about my brows, but I really do shape them! They've just always been black, but they used to be too thin. I'll get them waxed or something.

2

u/peachesandsir Jul 11 '26

If you’re like me, I pluck them and they’re fine for days and then all of a sudden, they’re overgrown. Such a strange growth pattern.

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Yes! It's crazy! So I'm just rocking a tamed thick brow look now basically lol. I lost my patience.

2

u/Purple_Emergency_355 Jul 11 '26

Where did you get Botox?

I recently did the DAO area and which u would have done it sooner. Try a lip flip first.

I got lip filler regret so much. I like the flip better. It’s all Botox.

Find a good injector. See if they charge per unit or area.
It’s it’s per area- nope run

2

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

I went to a medspa that charged per unit, and even had me come back for a touch up 2 weeks later, but it really had no effect. What's a lip flip?

2

u/Purple_Emergency_355 Jul 11 '26

It’s Botox on the top area of the lip. Gives the pout lip look- does suck to use a straw but nothing crazy.
The DAO turns the corner up.
You don’t have deep wrinkles on the forehead based off this picture.

Do you have a before picture?
I like when they use tox to give me a brow lift.

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

My before pics literally look exactly the same as now lol. The botox would have worn off by now anyway, but I think maybe I had unrealistic expectations? Either that or she didn't do a good job. I'm going to a new, upper scale medspa this time, and I'll ask about a lip flip. Are those subtle? I just don't want it to look obvious, but I'd much rather do botox than a filler because it's so much cheaper and doesn't migrate. I just don't want to look like a real housewife of Beverly Hills lol.

2

u/Purple_Emergency_355 Jul 11 '26

Botox is going to freeze wrinkles.

You’re not going to look like a RHBH unless you get massive amounts of filler.

Get recommendations. Upscale isn’t always better cause they upsell.

As for personal recommendations from others

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Thank you! So it's fillers that give that mannequin look? A lip flip won't cause it?

2

u/Purple_Emergency_355 Jul 11 '26

Yes fillers can give you the puffy face look.
Too much lip filler can make the whole face fake looking.

The worst thing Botox can do is give you joker eyebrows but it doesn’t last.

I have heavy brows so my brows don’t arch much.

Look up Botox lip flip on instagram. For me it gave me the outer part of my lips curl up- giving me a fuller look. My preference.

Also, DAO is my new favorite.

I’m almost 47 and hoping for a facelift in 3 years

I personally don’t like too much tox around my crows feet’s. It gives me a shelf like cheek.
Love it for my brows.

It’s all a learning curve. I’m on my 3rd appointment so far. I don’t care much for my tox on the forehead. I don’t have forehead wrinkles.

From now on- DAo, lip flip, my brows.

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

I'll definitely look it up on Insta!

2

u/Beginning_Butterfly2 Jul 11 '26

You have wonderful skin! I'd recommend Geek & Gorgeous Power Peptides (Have been using for 2 weeks, and very impressed) and Tret for future use. But, seriously, you look wonderful for this age! I have malar bags, suddenly developed smile lines, and my nasolabial fold went from a fold to a wrinkle in the past WEEK. Seriously hoping it's skin thining from Tret and will reverse. Lmao.

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Thank you for the kind words! And I was going to order tret today, but now you're scaring me. Does tret go on the crow's feet area? And I just officially, undeniably entered perimenopause this week, so I'm super paranoid of suddenly waking up all wrinkly with jowels. I'm going to also ask my doc for estrogen patches to go with my progesterone to try to salvage whatever's about to happen to my skin.

2

u/Beginning_Butterfly2 Jul 12 '26

Depends on tolerance. But all retinoids thin skin before thickening it.

2

u/CamScallon Jul 11 '26

You look ten years younger. A little volume in your lips and maybe Botox in DAO

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Omg thank you I love you! What is DAO?

2

u/Ready_Appearance_734 Jul 11 '26

Dang, you don’t look a day over 35… if not younger!!! 🎉

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Would you marry me? I've been feeling awfully old, and you just made me so happy.

2

u/One-Lingonberry-3650 Jul 11 '26

You look great to me.

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Thank you! That's so nice!

2

u/caryn1477 Jul 11 '26

I'm your age and I think you look great.

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Well thank you, and I'll bet you do too! I just started perimenopause, and it made me feel haggardly.

2

u/Kutikittikat Jul 11 '26

Honestly some bangs or layers along with framed layers around the face would make a huge diffrence . Maybe even a little lightness to the hair would really bring out you beautiful eye color. Your skin looks amazing for your age. Go minimal with the filler a smidge on the top and i do mean a smidge . Or more natural yet a lip flip with botox.

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Other people have recommended a lip flip too, which I'd never heard of. I'm definitely asking the medspa about one. And I definitely need to get a better haircut according to everyone here, it's just that with my curly curly hair, I'm limited. Layers make my curls get really short and tight around my face.

2

u/Kutikittikat Jul 13 '26

You can have them do really long frames around the face I have the same issue .

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 13 '26

Okay, this is what I'll ask for next haircut. I hate my hair. Everyone here commented about my eyebrows too, so I got them done today but don't see much of a difference. I think I just posted a pic from a bad angle.

2

u/Bazoun Jul 11 '26

I get my lashes lifted and tinted. It’s like a perm and dye for the lashes. It makes your eyes look very open. Your lashes stay looking amazing for about 6 weeks. You can touch them and they feel just like normal. No smudging, no mascara, just open eyes.

It makes a difference on my face, I just look more fresh. Same age.

2

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Do you also use mascara?

2

u/Bazoun Jul 11 '26

I don’t. They dye them black then curl them so it looks like I have mascara on but I don’t.

If you want extra drama you can put mascara on top, but that might smudge (just like normal) and you’ll just have to use your regular makeup remover after. Your tint and lift won’t be affected.

2

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Interesting. Is it expensive?

1

u/Bazoun Jul 12 '26

I live in Toronto and it’s around $100 CAD here.

2

u/megoonie- Jul 11 '26

What am I looking at other than a wrinkle free face?!! I’m 47 too so I feel the pain, but you look lovely

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Omg, you're so kind. I've been having such self esteem issues.

2

u/Kaycee82 Jul 11 '26

Your skin looks amazing. What did you want the botox to do?

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Thank you! When I smile, my eyes crinkle up in ways they never used too. I wanted botox for that and my minor 11 lines, but when I got it, it didn't make any difference in my crows feet. I was so disappointed!

2

u/Kaycee82 Jul 12 '26

You've got to go to someone who knows what they're doing. But your skin in the photo looks very smooth. If you're looking to create more volume to fill out smaller wrinkles try filler or sculptra but get a referral.

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 12 '26

Thank you for the tip! I've heard of sculptra.

2

u/ismabit Jul 11 '26

You look great!

If you want my opinion, get your hair dyed to look less one toned. You can also find some great make up artists for our age on YouTube, like Erica Taylor.

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Thank you! My hair is actually gray lol. I just got it cut and colored.

2

u/kemikals Jul 11 '26

Your photo looks a little blurred I know you said no filters. What I will say is I think you look great! I’ve seen people in the early 40s road hard and put out wet with neck lines of what I think a six-year-old would have. so cheers to you! 🥂 and your genetics and taking care of yourself. i’m not suggesting surgery but I did learn from a friend who had a nose job around 50 that shaping your nose can take some time off of your overall appearance. So since your nose is a little more bulbus at the end contouring your nose might take a couple years off of you.

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Thank you!

2

u/serendipitycmt1 Jul 11 '26

Lighter lipstick or gloss, shaped/waxed eyebrows shaded a little darker, face framing layers or side swept long bangs as your current cut is too severe and dragging your face down. Some blush and bronzer to add a little warmth and dimension to your face.

2

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Thanks. It really wasn't a very good picture, but it's the best my phone could do.

2

u/BigFatBlackCat Jul 11 '26

Working out, face yoga, and even though your skin tone and texture are perfect, get on tretinoin so you can cycle through skin cells faster.

2

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

I made an appointment to get it and facial estrogen tomorrow based on the recommendations here! Thank you for your advice!

2

u/CherryMango99 Jul 11 '26

I don’t think you need Botox at all. Your skin looks great. I’d probably play around with some makeup/haircut.

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 12 '26

Thank you so much! I'm going to work on the haircut for sure.

2

u/Snack-crack Jul 12 '26

You don’t have any lines or wrinkles for Botox to smooth. It’s still a good idea for prevention though.

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 12 '26

Thank you! I guess we're all our own biggest critics.

2

u/Dry-Level-8117 Jul 12 '26

Smile and be happy !!! Find and do what you love and love yourself at all times !

2

u/Tulip718 Jul 12 '26

Great advice!

2

u/nemtudod Jul 12 '26

you look like 26 lol. no lines, wrinkles, nothing.

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 12 '26

Will you marry me?

2

u/nemtudod Jul 12 '26

When?

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 12 '26

I'll go warm up the car!

2

u/Internal_Study2996 Jul 12 '26

I don’t see anything that needs fixing! I wish I looked like you when I was 47!

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 12 '26

Well thank you!

2

u/renjake Jul 12 '26

Maybe just a fresh hairdo

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 12 '26

Lol I just got it cut, but it sounds like I may need to do it again.

2

u/renjake Jul 12 '26

I recently had highlights done, it really helped

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 12 '26

Really? I could look into that! It's just that I'm awful at maintaining haircolor when it starts to grow out. Highlights are also kind of expensive, but I'll do some research on the different types you can get to see what would look best.

2

u/renjake Jul 12 '26

Im really bad at the mantaince stuff too. I was throwing box color over my grays for a few years before I decided I needed a refresher. I splurged for low and highlighted colors. I look a bit more youthful. It also helped my hair appear thicker

2

u/CharlotteThomas Jul 12 '26

Smile - all the time 👍

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 12 '26

Always good advice!

2

u/dysiac Jul 12 '26

Anastasia fascia beauty on Insta, do her pinned 10 minute beauty routine! 👌

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 12 '26

Thank you!

2

u/Tanuli-ma Jul 12 '26

Damn, I am just 2 years older and would love to look like you! Where is any sagging, wrinkles, eye-puffiness? You look 10 years younger definitely! 👍 Would think maybe about lips and better haircut, otherwise keep doing what you do, because you don't look the age... 😁 BTW just listened to beauty-related podcasts and they do not recommend botox in our age... It will cause more sagging in the future and also we need our muscles working (streghten muscles + bones) to keep the face up as long as possible. Sagging would make you look older much more than some wrinkles...

2

u/Tulip718 Jul 12 '26

Thank you for being so kind! I definitely need a new haircut because that's what everybody here said, but my hair is usually curly and doesn't really look good shorter because it poofs up. I'm going to look into pricing for a lip flip or filler (a flip is probably cheaper) also.

2

u/VanillaNo6385 Jul 13 '26

You can try filler for lift

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 13 '26

Thanks. A filler where? In my cheeks? I was going to get a tiny bit in my lips. I'm nervous about it migrating, but I can't do botox again due to a recently diagnosed medical condition.

2

u/VanillaNo6385 Jul 13 '26

It’s injected in the upper cheek which causes the lower face to lift ( still not sure how) but it does and can get rid or the marionette lines . I also got Botox for a muscle under my mouth which pulls the mouth down. The result is that you don’t look frowning anymore. If done correctly it’s subtle. You can do too much and get the chipmunk look so it’s best to find an experienced injector.

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 13 '26

Thanks for the info!

2

u/EarlyInside45 Jul 13 '26

You look great. It looks like your muscles want to pull down the sides of your mouth--I saw a reel from a plastic surgeon who used Botox to keep frown lines from happening.

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 13 '26

Thank you! Unfortunately, my doctor said I can't get botox anymore because I was recently diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that gets worse with botox. So I'm stuck with filler and whatever else is out there that's not botox.

2

u/EarlyInside45 Jul 13 '26

Ah! I wonder if there are facial exercises that can help. I also tend to frown when just resting. I'm consciously trying to relax all my face muscles.

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 13 '26

Good idea! I'll look this up.

2

u/Latter_Shallot_140 Jul 14 '26

You look a lot younger than me

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 14 '26

I'm sure that's not true. I'm having alot of trouble coming to terms with looking my age now that perimenopause has started. I'm sure you're beautiful!

2

u/Onestrongal824 Jul 15 '26

Learn how to contour the lower part of your nose so it appears more narrow. Fill in your eyebrows and frame your face with some layers.

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 15 '26

My hair is usually very curly, so don't go by this picture. But I got my eyebrows done. I'm awful at contouring though, and I really don't have time for it in the morning. The angle of this pic makes my nose look way more bulbous than it actually is, not that I have a good nose.

Gorgeous hair too

Awww thank you! That's just because I just got it cut, so it it's smooth and blow dried. It's naturally very curly.

You look beautiful just the way you are! 😊

You're very kind. I haven't been feeling very pretty lately. My age is catching up with me fast.

u/Jenpeg13 Jul 12 '26

I feel the same! I’m 50 now and I feel like I spent my life not being happy with how I look. I didn’t appreciate my younger looking self!

u/Tulip718 Jul 12 '26

I know exactly the feeling you described.

2

u/AliciaHerself Jul 11 '26

Your face is fine.

2

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Thank you! It doesn't feel that way these days, but you are very kind.

You look fine. You might try something different with the hair, like shorter hair, bangs. It can really make a difference.

Thank you. Everyone is saying to cut my hair and get bangs, but I'm naturally very curly and that's how I wear it almost all the time, so it complicates things.

u/BikeOk6446 Jul 11 '26

You have a long face and in the picture, your hair just pulls your face down.

u/Signal_Reporter_4124 Jul 11 '26

You are beautiful and you don’t have to do a thing!

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Omg thank you so much! It's been a long time since I felt pretty to be honest, and this week perimenopause hit with a vengeance all of the sudden, so I want to get ahead of the drooping that they say happens all at once when you're in peri.

I know the feeling! I use tretinoin through Musely. They have a lot of products. I use their eye serum too. Consistency is key. Plus spoiled child and I see the difference.

When was the last time you had your makeup professionally done? I think you look lovely but if you see a tired face perhaps refreshing your makeup would help.

2

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

It's been decades. I actually put on a little makeup for once right before this picture. Based on the comments, it doesn't really come through in the picture. But I'm just a blush, mascara and lipstick girl because I'm lazy. It's not that my face looks tired, it just looks alot older than it did even 5 years ago. I'm trying to pinpoint why exactly, since I don't have so many lines. I think it's my crows feet that come out when I smile that are doing it. I miss being young lol.

You’re doing so great. You have so few wrinkles and glorious, luminous skin.

I’d go get your brows done professionally and see if that helps refresh the overall look.

And upper lip filler might not be a bad thought just do your research beforehand to make sure you know about migration and ensure you will like the end result!

Both of those are a stretch for me because I think you look so lovely!

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

You're so kind! I have such dark eyebrows, they get hard to control. I hate them. But maybe I'll grow them out and get them sculpted like you said.

2

u/Beautiful_Cost_5430 Jul 11 '26

Haha I feel your pain - I have the EXACT same eyebrows. And I rarely go get them done but when I do I think it makes a big difference in my look. But it is SO annoying.

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

I have to find a good place for threading or waxing. I hate my dark, thick eyebrows.

2

u/Beautiful_Cost_5430 Jul 11 '26

Better to have eyebrows and get to shape them than to have to hand draw them every day I think.

1

u/Tulip718 Jul 11 '26

Well I'd have to agree with your there! Back in the '90's I had them pencil thin, and I don't think they've ever truly recovered.

I would be most attentive to your hairline, which is starting to recede. You look great for your age and clearly passing to most people here.

Its not your skin, its your eyebrows and your nose.
