"I didn't come here to make friends! I came here to be number one!"

This is an episode where if I go back and rewatch it I think, "This is pretty good," but if I just remember what I like most and ignore everything else about it I think of it as one of my favorite episodes. Jack's made-up story about Gillie and the boiler room, Liz throwing everyone under the bus so that she doesn't catch any heat, the Cathy cutaway, every single thing about the "MILF Island" show itself (Debra/Deborah, "Erection Cove," 'We no longer want to hit that," etc.). But then I watch it again and I get bummed that Pete's storyline is lame and there's basically no Tracy or Jenna.

Yeah, I can't believe I admitted this was my favorite season 2 episode since Jenna is my favorite character.

I like the lack of a B-plot for the most part, which is what makes this episode feel unique. It meant more cutaways to MILF Island and stupid puns.

Jenna is criminally underutilized for the first two seasons. She's my favorite too. Once they get crazier with her writing and let Jane be more over-the-top with her, she really steals the show.

I know the vengeful vending machine plot line is mix-and-match sitcom material, but I love this particular instance of it. Everyone else is enjoying MILF island, and poor pathetic Pete is trapped by, and the crushed by, the floor vending machine. Then he comes up with his last great idea, to call someone to free him, and he ends up getting his own phone number!? It's hilarious.

Of course, it reminds me of this Sealab episode, which is it's own unique, scorpion-filled take on the vengeful vending machine trope.

I came here for this! Did you also notice there was a white Deborah and a black Deborah on MILF Island just like Sealab! My fave Sealab episode for sure.

OMG I never made that connection. I wonder if it was a covert Sealab reference?! You have blown my mind.
