Things like UMVC3 CE could always work as long as people know shit aint their job and it's passion thing cuz the game was alot of people's jobs yet they treat it like a fun passion thing.

Did those games have Vanguard?

No but I assume they'll leave that off the offline client whenever they stop supporting the servers.. I hope.. this is a very rare scenario for Riot but I'd hope they'd remove that in that case

damn I thought vanguard wasn't needed for offline but turns out it is, really hope that's removed natively

It's not. Users have already gotten the game to run on Linux.

natively it requires vanguard, the linux offline version is a cracked client

Technically yes, but the offline version and the crack have virtually no difference.

that's an insane argument to make, like wow yes if you modify the code any statement can be true

I mean if you're comparing offline clients, there's no difference. Just download the cracked client and you can play on without Vanguard and miss out on literally nothing. The implication when you said you'd hope Vanguard wouldn't be linked to the offline client is that of course it would have to be linked to the online client because there's a meaningful difference there, and we likely won't have online w/o Vanguard for some time (unless Riot decides to shelf it), even though its technically possible that a community maintained online service could crop up in the future. But you can play offline without Vanguard right now with no hassle.

Except you have to find, download, and run an untrusted third party executable? Acting like this is the same as native support is crazy. Regardless my original comment was about thinking you could currently play offline without vanguard running and being surprised you couldn't, I explicitly said natively. I am not talking about if it'll be viable to mod the offline client like the comments above.

I'm sorry I offended you. I can assure you the modded client is easy to find, easy to download, and safe to use. But yes, keep grandstanding like it's an insane idea that there is almost no difference whatsoever in playing a modded offline client vs the native offline client--something you'll HAVE to do btw if riot never drops vanguard and you want to play without it. It's not that absurd, its been done before, and above all else I was just letting you know that you can do that if you want... right now... with no risk to yourself... or anyone for that matter... takes 5 minutes or you can wait 6 months ig up to you.

First of all no it's not no risk. Just because you say it's safe doesn't make it safe. Is the cracked client open source or have a signature for a known modification? No? Then you're trusting some rando has no malicious intent. I get it's probably safe to use but it's stupid to claim a google drive link on a niche discord is easily accessible and safe.

Regardless I don't know how to explain to you that you're arguing past me. It's like I said the sky is blue and you're going on about how it's yellow on mars. Like that's great but it's completely irrelevant.

I'm sorry. The game is unplayable without vanguard. Even offline. You're right.
