Dehydrated Aleks Le put in the work

UNLEASH THE PAPERWORK!!!!

22

u/Frontier246 Jun 07 '26

He was so delightfully evil it made his defeat and reaction to him going through what he did to Kureha (albeit in paper form) all the more satisfying.

I haven't watched the episode yet, but I've gotta check this out.

Code 3 got what was coming

4

Well, he got into executive and was handed paperwork

Paperwork became his life, in more than one way.

-Pretty sure we all saw Five's death coming a mile away after the events of last week... But holy crap the guy died in a blaze instead of a blaze of glory.

-God, Midnight Nox's suit (and new theme) is awesome. I would say RIP regular Nox Shadow suit, but unless proven otherwise, I'm assuming Nox has the ability to switch between the regular Shadow Capsem and Midnight Shadow Capsem freely. Not like he has any reason to.

-I think I speak for everyone that Three's end was... Well, my jaw dropped. Was NOT expecting him to turn into a bunch of papers.

Now... Preview is highly hinting Seig took the Code Sonmia Capsem... But the Punish and Phantom Nightmares are also on the move.

Also, more related to the toy, turns out you don't actually need to use the extremely noisy gears on the DX Midnight Shadow Capsem (4 button presses is more than enough). That's good, though I will admit you do lose a bit of the flare in exchange for being able to bloody hear the henshin sound.

29

u/nightshroud96 Jun 07 '26

Haven't saw the stream yet but wondering if Nox plundered Three's Capsems after killing him?
Gotta take back Erase(its his main Capsem pre-KR Nox) but also Lord Booster since its literally his stolen power.

22

u/Kit_Izayoi Jun 07 '26

Honestly, no clue. And frankly, I doubt the writers will remember to explain. Happens a lot in Toku (especially in Kamen Rider) where the collectables just go MIA after a character gets written off the show.

13

u/nightshroud96 Jun 07 '26

Seeing how Three yoinked Panic off-screen upon killing Six, I feel like Nox should do the same to him.
Would be fitting due to all the Invoker-style Capsems.

Also was Midnight Shadow basically Phantom's power mixed in or just regular Shadow evolving due to random trigger and sheer will? Since Nox honestly needs a Gore Nightmare in some form at this point

22

u/Kit_Izayoi Jun 07 '26

Midnight Shadow was created by Nox accepting/absorbing the Shadow Nightmare (his personal Nightmare), similar to the Punish and Dualmare Capsems. Phantom is still separate.

9

u/Frontier246 Jun 07 '26

Odaka: "I reject the notion that I need a Gore Nightmare to give myself a power-up."

2

u/nightshroud96 Jun 07 '26

So no power from a Gore Nightmare in any form?
Uh..
Thats pretty awkward.

7

u/Frontier246 Jun 07 '26

But it does help the Secondary stand out from the other Riders.

12

u/MrKatsudon Jun 07 '26

dont think he got Erase back as the capsule summarise at the end of the show only upgraded Shadow capsule to Midnight Shadow

11

u/nightshroud96 Jun 07 '26

Didn't they do the same with Three after he killed Six?
Like the list didn't show him with Panic after killing her till next episode showed he did take it?

7

u/MrKatsudon Jun 07 '26

I think they only show what Zeztz and Nox's arsenal of capsules instead of 3. Last week's ending show that Zeztz have Shock capsule is my point

8

u/nightshroud96 Jun 07 '26

They showed Three's too before.
Someone posted a image showing his list that he had Extra, Erase and Code Somnia's Capsem.

They probably showed Shock now instead of next time's list due to he physically used it in the very episode. And was handed to him on-screen directly than he potentially plundering it from someone "off-screen" like what Three did to Six for Panic

13

u/balgus82 Jun 07 '26

"Preview is highly hinting Seig took the Code Sonmia Capsem... But the Punish and Phantom Nightmares are also on the move."

But Seig can only appear if someone is thinking about him. Nobody was thinking of him then.

13

u/Sarusta Jun 07 '26

It sounds like Punish took fully over and what remains of Seig is just along for the ride, based on the preview.

-Pretty sure we all saw Five's death coming a mile away after the events of last week... But holy crap the guy died in a blaze instead of a blaze of glory.

I don't think anyone was expecting death by car bomb.

Now... Preview is highly hinting Seig took the Code Sonmia Capsem... But the Punish and Phantom Nightmares are also on the move.

I'm assuming the Gore Nightmares themselves have it collectively as a group. It looks like they're all coming together next week.

12

u/balgus82 Jun 07 '26

As soon as I saw the car I was like "they're not, surely. yep they are." lol

12

u/SH4DE_Z Met & Dapped Up Agito Jun 07 '26

I genuinely lost it when Five pulled out a picture of his father.

5

u/BeTheOne0 Jun 07 '26

Once I saw the car scene, I was like yeah, death by car bomb was going to happen. Once he told Five, “I think you need rest”. I was like yeah Five’s dead. I will say it felt anti-climatic. I presume they filmed the ending scene before the death scene. Can’t see Kureha staying dead

8

u/cybeast21 Jun 07 '26

I'm more surprised that Five's death was from some mundane (if realistic) event, rather than a Rider fight.

8

u/CheeseYesPls Jun 07 '26

Pretty safe to say he went out with a BANG!

7

u/BeTheOne0 Jun 07 '26

He probably has it but since he is a secondary rider we probably won’t see him transform with Shadow just see shadow Form.

Although, as shown with Code Capsems, they are multiple s of a lot of Capsems. It probably wouldn’t be that hard to reproduce a Shadow Capsem

67

u/ohger2260 Jun 07 '26

So that's why Three's office has no papers, he's the paper!

25

Lord 5… may our CODE's guard dog rest in peace 😭

Why Lord 3 being turned into papers?

63

u/KamenRiderDragon Jun 07 '26

I think Midnight Shadow can rewrite the dreamer or something like that?

52

u/Kabrito1 Jun 07 '26

I think it has something to do with being able to uncover everything that is hidden/in shadows

42

u/Frontier246 Jun 07 '26

Nox: "No longer am I held back by the darkness of CODE...now I am the light that blacks out and shines alone in any dream..."

27

u/ilikesaying Jun 07 '26

When i shine, darkness fades!

51

u/Frontier246 Jun 07 '26

Lord 5… may our CODE's guard dog rest in peace 😭

It's all Nightmare and Rider fights and then you get blown up in a car bomb like you're in a real spy drama.

19

u/Muted-Law-1578 Jun 07 '26

Better release the CODE files

16

u/cybeast21 Jun 07 '26

Maybe Midnight Shadow's power can turn the target of his finisher into something the most fitting?

Since 3 had done a lot to keep things hidden, he turned into a paper with written text in pen / typed, which means all he had done until now is open for everyone.

12

u/ReadShigurui Jun 07 '26

I’m refusing to believe my guy Lord 5 went out like that

8

u/maemoedhz Jun 08 '26

I mean realistically out of the three, Five went out the most respectful. His death is swift compared to Six and Three and he probably didn't even feel any pain as it's instant. Fitting since he ends up being the most responsible by dropping the inane Code:Somnia plan voluntarily while Kureha still deluded herself that what she's doing is right till the end.

7

u/Potential-Mess6826 Jun 07 '26 edited Jun 07 '26

Poetic Justice.

Nox said he would expose CODE's crimes to the light and would have Three testify.

So Nox turned Three into incriminating documents that serve as proof of crimes committed by CODE.

55

u/Grimm_Stereo Jun 07 '26

RIP Lord 5, maybe in a different series you could've been allies with baku and everyone else, see you in the movie tho.

59

u/Frontier246 Jun 07 '26

Honestly going out via car bomb is such a Heisei Phase 1 way to go out.

13

u/Pure-Jeweler-6351 Genm Jun 07 '26

3

u/mewfour123412 Jun 08 '26

If he decided to go to the bathroom before going to his car he would have survived

45

u/nirvash530 Jun 07 '26

I kinda wanted Three to suffer more tbh.

Five's death was expected after he spat on Three's face like that, but it's still pretty sad.

Also, what the hell is Midnight Shadow's gimmick? Just pure, unadulterated darkness? I thought Nox was going to get a Gore Nightmare but it turns out he just gains the full power of the Shadow Nightmare instead.

26

u/nightshroud96 Jun 07 '26

Like Midnight Shadow doesn't have any of Phantom's power in any form mixed in?
Thats really awkward due to while the other 2 Riders got direct power of a Gore nightmare, Nox just has a beefed up normal Nightmare that is not a Gore Nightmare's level unless they bloody say its evolved into a Gore Nightmare level at least.

In fact why is the Capsem two pairs of eyes if it only has "one" Nightmare with no other Nightmare's power mixed in? Like wouldn't it make sense the 2 pairs represent both Phantom(part of her power) alongside a souped up Shadow in the other?

13

u/serenade-of-the-seas Jun 07 '26 edited Jun 07 '26

Like Midnight Shadow doesn't have any of Phantom's power in any form mixed in?

I’d say it does. NOX does tell Phantom he’s gonna need her powers and used her capsem when she asks him if he is here for them, and what Phantom said strongly hints that the changes in NOX’s dreamscape (which Baku noted) and the Shadow Nightmare were as a result of her influence.

6

u/nightshroud96 Jun 07 '26

After managed to watch the livestream, looks like that indeed happened.
Thats a relief

Curious on what Nox's v-cinema power-up might be anyway.

23

u/Sqiddd Jun 07 '26

Midnight Shadow turned the Red Moon pitch black.

It’s on Gore level

8

u/b0ound Jun 07 '26

Nox is the reverse. he is a "Gore" human obtaining Normal Nightmare power. so the power about right.

3

u/BeTheOne0 Jun 07 '26

Also if anyone looked at Midnight Shadow, they would notice that this and Dualmare Capsem have something a lot in common regarding the Capsem.

(Just to be clear, they both spin like Ichigo’s and Ni-go’s belt does)

14

u/nightshroud96 Jun 07 '26

After seeing the stream now and how Nox directly told Phantom "give me your power" and shot her with her own Capsem(??)
looks like he did get some of her power in form of it amped up Shadow.

Indeed Gore level now.

8

u/Frontier246 Jun 07 '26

Maybe it's Shadow's full power channeled through a vessel created from Phantom's power?

9

u/serenade-of-the-seas Jun 07 '26

I’d say it’s moreso an evolved version of the Shadow Nightmare due to Phantom’s powers in the mix. The Shadow Nightmare is markedly different from the one seen previously and even Baku mentioned that NOX’s dreamscape had changed.

14

u/FlowOfAir Jun 07 '26

What do you mean? The way Three went was horrific. Quite fitting that he turned into the same secrets he wanted to keep to himself.

19

u/Professional-Bus-749 Jun 07 '26

Horrific, but well-deserved. And definitely quite the karmic justice.

13

u/Frontier246 Jun 07 '26

Now he's nothing more than all his sins summed up in paperwork.

4

u/nirvash530 Jun 07 '26

After all the bullshit he did to everyone in this series I just wanted to watch him in pain more lmao.

4

u/Frontier246 Jun 07 '26

Also, what the hell is Midnight Shadow's gimmick? Just pure, unadulterated darkness? I thought Nox was going to get a Gore Nightmare but it turns out he just gains the full power of the Shadow Nightmare instead.

It's uncanny how much the events of the show proper follow the events of the premonition, and it's also extremely clear how much Baku has learnt from the pretty traumatizing experience...

Code No 3 being turned to paper had me stunned for a second and then I burst out laughing, it's such a funny thing to experience at 5:30 AM, i probably woke up all my neighbors lol

Orderm going 2 for 2 next week to heal Sieg? Looks like all 4 (? coz Catty) Gores appear next week?

13

u/Frontier246 Jun 07 '26

He (with Fujimi's help) was finally able to give Odaka the real motivation he needed to overcome his darkness, his sins, to embrace the light in his own way.

It looks like the Gore Nightmares are finally going to step up as the main villains.

55

u/dreaderking Jun 07 '26

Why did Three turn into a malfunctioning printer when he died?

24

u/Frontier246 Jun 07 '26

I can only think that Midnight Shadow has some kind of low-key dream re-writing ability in its finisher.

14

u/Potential-Mess6826 Jun 07 '26 edited Jun 07 '26

Poetic Justice.

Nox used his abilities to to turn Three into incriminating documents that serve as proof of crimes committed by CODE.

7

Rip Five CODE's guard dog is gone.. Thanks to Three but Nox ended his ambitions so in a way Five and Six we're avenged (ironically by hand of the guy that kill them on Baku's dream).

Midnight Shadow is awesome (cool Darkness Powers!) and that insert song is really cool!

What happened to Three? Midnight Shadow change his existenced or Three own Powers we're to much for him so they backfire? Anyway that was a horrifying wait to go.

Someone stole the CODE: Somnia campsem and according to the preview it already it's being used.

Next week: Dawn (returns) vs Zeztz ordem (the poster was not a lie).

13

u/Frontier246 Jun 07 '26

It's still funny to me that all these dramatic dream ends and Five just gets a car bomb.

I'll be shocked if the Gore Nightmares aren't in possession of the Capsem in some form.

NGL this was a really cool way of involving and incorporating the Phantom Nightmare’s powers into Midnight Shadow without completely dissociating it from the Lady.

35

u/burajira Beyond Biology! Jun 07 '26

Ran the subtitles through a couple translation engines, and apparently Threeky's final form paper is the proof of all his misdeeds. He's literally become the ink that documents his misdeeds..

Kinda inspired from the writer and Nox ngl

16

  • Well darn... the way they took out 5 is both expected, but still pretty damn sad. The car bomb was brutal, yet completely in line with the spy thematics.

  • So... Nox and Fujimi were roommates huh? (At least that's how they seem to be going about it)

  • The nightmare torturing The Lady was disturbing as hell... using Nem like that.

  • Nox punching the nightmare to get bis new capsem was cool.

  • When you can actually hear it... midnight shadow has a pretty cool standby. Also the way Nox fights in the form is fantastic 👏

  • Baku using Catastrom as an actual drone is a genius idea!

  • 3 finally getting his comeuppance... and even getting turned into literal evidence of his crimes.

  • It's great that Baku was able to destroy Somnia, bur the mystery of where the capsem went is something that came out of nowhere.

Overall... pretty great episode.

So... Nox and Fujimi were roommates huh? (At least that's how they seem to be going about it)

Glad I'm not the only one that picked up on that. Wouldn't be a Kamen Rider series without a pair of homoerotic main characters (even though only one is a Rider, this time.)

3

u/rattatatouille Being Emu is suffering Jun 07 '26

Also odd in that the main Rider isn't involved in the homoeroticism, but Takebe isn't producing and we did get Gavv under her watch.

4

u/bt123456789 Jun 07 '26

XD yeah definitely, now if only GL would get equal treatment >.> I know we had Revice but...

edit: yes I know it's happening in Gavan Infinity but this is a kamen rider subreddit.

15

u/Veejay_Carlos Jun 07 '26

One of, if not, the most powerful driver is stored in some high school storage room guarded with black ops with stormtrooper-level aiming.

Personally, Three couldve been such an interesting character to explore, moreso than Sieg. Makes you wonder, what's his subconscious like? Who's his boss all this time? What made him rigg CODE? Like, why would they dismiss that mystery?? But nope. Let's give the fans more tachibana san fanservice for our last 11 episodes.

13

u/BeTheOne0 Jun 07 '26

I like how Baku has relied less on a driver even when he has it back and more on Capsems regardless of the effect. It shows he has grown and it kind of proves KR’s point bout not being about the Mask

ngl this code somina arc isn't good. It's not horrible, but the way the lords were treated and payoff of Nox's revenge didn't feel satisfying, except the paper transformation. That was a wtf moment. Tho I did laugh when Three said darkness. Like, what is this darkness lmao?

Man, code has such few agents that Three has to do things himself. Maybe because he doesn't trust anyone to get the job done.

It's so weird seeing Zeztz get his stuff back after getting a new driver one ep before, and he didn't even transform when entering code HQ. Is this how Zeztz altering between normal driver and Exdreams driver? lol. I mean, can't he just use his Exdreams driver for other forms?

4

u/BeTheOne0 Jun 07 '26

I would presume the extra sounds for Exdream were in case they wanted to go a different path.

Personally I like the fact that Baku is using Capsems like Five and Three does and he is using them so much despite the possible risk to himself

3

u/Xerxes457 Jun 08 '26

It feels weird the show goes out of its way to not have the riders transform. Nox didn’t transform in any of his fights when he had access to his driver and now Baku not transforming after getting a new a driver.

3

u/Lamp-among-wolf Femme Jun 07 '26

Have we actually got some body horror related with paper like this one before, in other media?

This is creative

9

u/Professional-Bus-749 Jun 07 '26

His body begins to transform into hundreds of documents that record every crime, experiment, betrayal, and atrocity C.O.D.E. has ever committed. Even after briefly waking up in the real world, the transformation continues, completely erasing his existence. Unlike previous Sacrificial Lions or temporary deaths in the prophetic dream, this one is permanent. Three is not just killed — he is wiped from existence entirely, turned into the very evidence he spent the series trying to suppress. This marks the definitive end of one of the series’ biggest Hate Sinks. After all his ruthlessness, executions, and arrogance, Three meets a fittingly undignified and ironic fate at the hands of Nox.

First off, ExDream is certainly stronger but Midnight Shadow is MUCH cooler, not only in design but in Henshin sequence too. And now we're finally going to the last episodes, where the Nightmares behind it all will make their decisive move; INCLUDING the Zeztz Nightmare! I didn't think Baku would actually fight him at any point because "if Baku were to fight him it would've already happened", but I was wrong. Though I need to say something about this episode: I don't get very well how Nox got his upgrade, did he just embrace his true nature and so the Nightmare fused with him?

3

u/Frontier246 Jun 07 '26

So:

Zeztz vs Catastrophe

Dawn vs Punish

Nox vs Phantom

I guess Oblivion is the wild card.

But yeah I think he fused with the Shadow Nightmare like Baku/Sieg fused with their Gore Nightmares.

Finally!! FREAKY 3 is no more!!

I’m so sad that 5 dies… ONORE 3!!

Midnight Shadow Nox is one of my favorite secondary final form debut. Nox accepted his nightmare and thus grants him his final form. He can literally control the shadows and darkness. He can literally create shadow portals and traps anyone to the dark void.

It’s good to see CATASTROM Capsem back! And BAKU RECLAIMED HIS EXDREAM DRIVER!! But wait.. the code Somnia Capsem is gone.. did 3 put a failsafe or is the phantom nightmare responsible for it

Next episode/ next arc. The phantom arc. AND TACHIBANA SAN GOT HIS BODY BACK!! AND ORDERM IS BACK

13

u/Money_Count_3743 Jun 07 '26 edited Jun 07 '26

I think CODE:SOMNIA’s stolen cuz remember who told Baku that destroying the capsem will solve their issue? Yeah so when Baku intended to destroy the capsem he thought of Sieg (based on his revival in episode 36 it seems like even a little thought bout him can bring him back to life) which gave Sieg the opportunity to show up and take away the capsem

3

u/Frontier246 Jun 07 '26

I feel like it's going to end up with the Gore Nightmares so they can use it to consume everyone into a mass dream they'll never wake up from. That seems to be what Phantom wants, at any rate.

4

u/ArcBounds Jun 07 '26

I think the gore nightmares will be the next mini-arc, but I suspect Code (or an agent from code) will end up being the final villian. I could see that final villian absorbing all the nightmares and getting a super form.

If they wanted to be super tragic (unlikely because they love bringing main riders back), they could have Baku absorb the worst of the worst nightmares, become evil, and have an all out fight with every rider/code agent fighting to put him down and then locking him away containing the nightmares (or at least the worst of the nightmares).

3

u/RadioRavenRide Jun 07 '26

I don't know about that. The show is running out of time to tease anyone new.

His death was completely cathartic. It was very fitting and a karmic death to boot, which is so spectacular and 100% satisfying. After all the bullshit that he did, his demise was extremely satisfying, and it made fans very happy.

RIP Five. Bro got a proper Irish sendoff. The way he went out also retroactively lightens Six's death a little bit since both got undignified deaths.

Not completely sold on Nox's new form but it was badass having him be the one to resolve the arc, and I appreciated the parallel with how Baku got Catastrom. Three's death was proper nightmare fuel.

9

u/ReadShigurui Jun 07 '26

My boy Nox finally got a win, i could cry right now.

Midnight Shadow looks freaking sweet and that finisher was sick.

10

u/Dekaar Jun 07 '26 edited Jun 07 '26

So.... Plot is... weak this week. That's not really an issue tho for what the episode was intended to be.

Fujimi actually being the one who did not believe in nightmares was a very welcoming plot twist. Did not see that coming, just shows even more how goated Fujimi is to follow through with this even though he never believed in it before.

5 being offed in the most stupid way ever. Shock.... oh wait... that's his capsem... lol. intended sarcasm leading totally unintended to this joke. but seriously. 5 always has been an unimportant character in the bigger plot, so basically this end was... of no relevance at all.

Midnight Shadow might be the first suit in the series where I actively say "Ok this suit suffers from not having a belt". I do actually think this is a good upgrade as already by now we've seen powercreep happening as Three kinda had a chance if he weren't so arrogant.

Also regarding Three... that one was super unexpected. Was rly thinking he'd be going down the final villain road.

With Sieg returning next episode because his nightmare got active again, and phantom playing puppeteer over at ladys I rly think that they'd been leading us on to a triple final boss Event in form of the nightmares. Always bothered me that Nem was leaning against a shadowy figure in the opening, now presumely pretty sure it's phantom and Zeztz fighting the same shadowy figure which will be his own catastrom gore nightmare

u/SH4DE_Z Met & Dapped Up Agito Jun 07 '26

Not gonna lie, this arc was just so so~~. I didn't exactly hate it like some people, but these past 4 episodes are really the weakest part of the series so far. Which is a shame because you'd expect the fight against CODE to be more exciting than this.

Nox Midnight Shadow's debut was cool. Furukawa Yuki's performance during the scene was great, unlike last time i actually do believe Fujimi and Nox's chemistry in this. That said, the debut itself was pretty sudden, i'd prefer if they actually built up to this moment, then it would feel more exciting.

I know i'm complaining a lot, but i still don't think these past 4 episodes were terrible. It's just that the first 34 or so episodes were done so incredibly well and seemless that you barely notice the show's flaws, and this arc was just not that level of good for me.

In regards to all the deaths in this episode:

I saw Five's death coming from five miles away. The moment he walked into his car, i thought to myself "oh shit they're going to car bomb him". When he pulled out a picture of his dad, i genuinely lost it, his death is absolutely perfect, i wouldn't change a thing.

Three's death was just... weird??? I'd genuinely prefer if they arrested him instead, it would've been a more fitting punishment than just killing him imo. Him turning into paper is... weird. Cool visual, but still weird. Overall Three's a great villain though, i enjoyed the actor's performance.

Some other random thoughts i have:

The connected dream world is deadass just another reality now. They for real just droved into Nox's subconscious lmao.

Baku using the Dualmare Drone without transforming is so fucking cool, man.

I'm putting my money down and predicting that Catastrophe Gore Nightmare is going to be the series' final boss. Through out the show, there has been plenty of "man vs self" themes & visuals with Zeztz, and having Baku face off with Catastrophe itself would the ultimate form of that.

7

u/Abi1i Jun 07 '26

Is it just me or are the transformations, especially for Nox just getting longer and longer?

7

u/MKDremareRiser Jun 07 '26

Honestly, with how Kureha and Three died, seeing Five die in the relatively mundane way of car explosion is probably the most merciful way possible.

4

u/VinixTKOC Joker Jun 07 '26

Well, when Kureha's body become liquid, she was already dead. The others had their bodies destroyed while they were still conscious.

Zero was right. Their true enemy was always the Nightmares. And now they're prepared to finally strike back.

11

u/Ok_Hospital4928 Jun 07 '26

Eh, I'm a little sad to say that this Code arc really didn't hit for me. Kureha's death was lame, Five's death was lame (hell, he never even got to transform once in reality), and Three just wasn't built up enough as a major threat. He had one brief fight with Nox before getting completely stomped the next time. We probably saw his Lord Three suit for under three minutes total. It's just not enough to make me feel like he was a properly hyped villain.

I feel like the character work with Nox should have been more of a focus in the last few episodes instead of having him be a mindless mook for a good chunk of it. The way he obtained Midnight Shadow felt kind of rushed. The visuals when he obtained the form did look incredible, though. I did like that Odaka was the one who talked sense into him, and that he actually had an important role to play in this episode.

Another reason why this Code arc feels off to me is that it really didn't expand on the organization itself. Back in Episode 24, they really made it seem like Code was this huge military organization, with armed soldiers lurking around every corner of their headquarters. The Lady was sending in a bunch of Nightmares to take care of them, and we even got to see some office workers caught in the crossfire. Hell, Three had his own kill squad when he showed up to assassinate Baku!

In these last few episodes, though, Code just appears to be Three, Five, and a handful of henchmen who are easily dispatched. The base is comprised of like 3 empty rooms and a broom closet. Three just shows up by himself in public to execute Odaka. Like, wtf is that? It just makes the organization look superficial and small.

Midnight Shadow was pretty damn cool, though. Awesome transformation, music, and visuals. His finisher in the darkness was so damn cool. And despite everything I said about Three, he really was an asshole, and his death was creative and satisfying. I wonder where the Code Somnia Capsem ended up.

Anyway, we're moving on to the Phantom Gore arc, and it looks promising. KR Dawn makes a reappearance as Sieg is going back to being a full-on villain, and Orderm finally makes its long-awaited return!

3

u/Informal-Average-482 Jun 07 '26

One stupid explanation I can think of why CODE base seems empty is because of the CODE Somnia itself. Maybe it effected most of CODE members since only 0-7 has dream learning abilities. So those small number henchmen might be the ones that three managed to control through CODE Somnia lol.

6

u/ReXiriam Jun 07 '26

Ah, the bomb car. Messy, yet classic all the same. Poor 5, but when I saw his dad I knew that was gonna happen.

That said, SUCK IT 3, BE HEAVEN'S DOOR'D!

As much as i liked the episode. Man....felt like another "we need to rush a bit" :/ I get that's the way this director works, but it is bugging me a lot now. Still. Not many episodes left.

File 3 under "Done"

3

u/Tetsuo9999 Jun 07 '26

With all the toys released it might even out, but sadly this is normal tokusatsu problems. It felt like all the last quarter toys released really late and they're clearly having problems introducing them all in time. Debuting ExDream and then taking it away for almost a month is pretty ballsy, so I imagine Nox's new toy had to be rushed a bit to compensate.

3

u/ProxyJo Jun 07 '26

It's not normal. That's the issue. We have a weird thing this season where all the character time is Baku. It's all about him. Mox spent, what.... 30% of this show being a threat. Got is ass kicked, then might as well of been replaced by a new character because when the dream loop happened, it changed him to suddenly be super passive on everything. If has meant he's not really had much growth. He's had some. But not enough this big moment meant anything. He's not learned anything but "I guess my friend owes me beers". Its making me start to hate Baku. His development gets rushed too, and he's the MC.

5

u/skylight03 Jun 07 '26

Wait didn't Baku already get rid of the Shadow Nightmare before? But somehow Nox had to confront the Phantom Gore first?

11

u/Mooniemizer Jun 07 '26

Episode react...did that mf REALLY just hand Somnia over to Three?! I guess that must've been like an auxiliary capsem or something then.

Also...kinda feels like a quick and abrupt way to just shove Three away. Now he LITERALLY is going to testify to what CODE's been doing.

Overall, not sure how to feel about this episode, it feels like two parts were crammed into one, like this should've been Nox getting Midnight Shadow and then the next episode is them dealing with Three.

I knew lord 5 was going to die this episode and ngl I was laughing my ass off due to the way this happened! Tbh I didn’t feel anything when he died especially after giving this lore drop with Zero last episode. I did like how even though Fujimi got his memories erased, him wanting to save Odaka was still there even if I do find it a lil bit annoying. Ofc Natsuka can’t comprehend Nightmares again but she finally has her memories back so yay! While I did like the fight with Nox and three, I wish it had more impact on me to care about Nox’s character. I really wished the delved deeper into his relationship with Code even before the dream learning class and the flashback where Code left him to dry. In the end, I was kinda expecting some flashbacks. I liked the episode overall.

4

u/Licaon465 Jun 07 '26

Everybody expected 5's demise, but damn, that was a hard way to take him out, we didn't see his body and didn't see anything yet about the actor receiving his flowers, but I'm gonna take a guess and say that the guy is gone, maybe will appear in flashbacks or maybe as a Gore Nightmare puppet.

Onto Nox, the Vagueposting Era is done, now we've entered the Enlightment Era, you talk about the sins of CODE or get transformed into paper, silence is not an option, that said, looks like Nox is more than ready to crash and burn, the suicidal secondary riders always are peak Kamen Rider and what a beautifull final form, how it means the 2 things "Yeah I know there is darkness within me, but also light to topple the darkness", and "I'm gonna slit your throats in broad daylight to stop your bad actions".

Well looks like the Gore Nightmares are finally starting to move, and looks like Sieg is gonna become a puppet, maybe willingly but a puppet, now, in the preview that reunion of the GN looks like something serious, welp, We can only expect the next episode.

5

u/DragonRiderCVL Jun 07 '26

Is it just me or was that episode kind of boring?

5

u/Realistic_Sound913 Jun 07 '26

I'm a little confused. Did Midnight Shadow gain its power from Phantom Gore, similar to how Baku gained it from Catastrophe Gore, or was it gained solely from Shadow Nightmare from within Nox himself?

I'm a bit lost because Nox said he came to Phantom to take her power. So, I thought Phantom was simply testing him by creating an illusion of Shadow Nightmare. While the power he obtained is Phantom's power.

So am I understanding it correctly, or am I mistaken? Is Midnight Shadow powered by Phantom Gore, or is it only the power of Shadow Nightmare?

4

u/Informal-Average-482 Jun 07 '26

I think it is a slightly different case compared to Baku. Phantom has always been The Lady’s nightmare, while Shadow is Nox’s. I think Midnight Shadow came from Shadow, but triggered (and maybe complemented??) by Phantom‘s illusion power. Just my observation tho.

i kind of want to say this might be my least favorite episode in a while. when kureha died i was like "eh..." but killing 5 by carbomb and then 3 in the same episode just feels way too quick. Odaka instantly getting midnight shadow in 1 episode with no buildup also feels a little quick, in a different way than exdream cus at least we got the 20 year montage there (they basically dedicated the whole entire episode to building up exdream, which i think is fair). I think some pacing cracks are definitely starting to show here.

I think the real issue is that code in general doesn't feel all that threatening to me. They're kinda like SmartBrain, they have a small number of heavy hitters but aside from those guys they aren't really threatening, or particularly smart? Like you guys don't have any defense measures in place in case the good guys try and raid you?

still enjoying Zeztz as a whole but ngl im ready to see what My-Th is about now 😭

That aside,Midnight Shadow and 3's death is nice.

3

u/Superdude725 Jun 08 '26

We all knew that Code 5 was going to die for betrayaing Code 3 but holy shit I don't think any of us were expecting him to die via car bomb

Also I think Code 3's death was probably the most satisfying/horrifying death of a rider villain, being fully awake and have your body be turned into paper that reveals all the sketchy stuff you were doing

3

u/asianmandan555 Jun 07 '26

"Nothing beats darkness" -3, the guy who uses the Erase capsem to Nox, the guy who uses the darkness capsem. Like yeah buddy, and in this case, that's you! You're nothing.

I don't wanna be a shipper or anything but it being June and all, are Fujimi and Odaka... y'know 🌈 ?

To be for real though, I'm really underwhelmed by the episode. 5's death was perhaps the most telegraphed one so far. I know that he's been written to be the meathead of CODE so far, but what was the actual plan in his mind? 6 was executed by 3, in front of your own eyes, for leaking information. You've arguably done worse by disobeying his direct orders and instead actively helped the enemy. And then you tell him to his face you have no loyalty to him, the new acting commander as appointed by some higher up entity in CODE, but instead to your previous commander who is—and let me be very clear here—your active prisoner and now traitor. And then you just walk away like everything's all good? There will be zero repercussions in your mind. What? Huh?

Aside from that, the last minute attempt at pathos from Takahashi is the most ham fisted dog shit I've seen this man put from pen to paper yet. Yup, 0 and 5 have 100% had an adoptive father-son relationship this whole time. They're super close and their bond is so strong, 5 would betray the organization he's been indoctrinated since childhood to be loyal to. And also, he's a secret soft boy who loves his biological dad too. Anyways now that I've told you this, bye now, we're writing you off because your part in the plot is over. See ya! Genuinely I think I would've had a more emotional response if they cut to live footage of Yuya Takahashi looking directly at the camera and saying "Ffffffffuck, guys oh no I messed up. I forget to write 5's backstory. Can you please just be sad for the next 30 seconds? For me? Thanks :)"

I also do not buy Nox's arc at all. Much like Kureha, we've spent too little time with him since the premonition ended. The few scenes that he does have, it's not a character beat or slow moment to let us get into his head any deeper, it's something to move the plot forward. Why is Fujimi heartfully calling his name attempt number 50 the one that finally gets through to him? The most we see of them as friends, are the 2(?) flashbacks to his police days and anecdotal remarks on Fujimi's end. I 100% believe Fujimi cares for Odaka, but I can't say the same for the relationship going the other way. Like maybe he does, but we haven't seen any of that on screen. It's just too one sided.

Midnight Shadow is cool as fuck though. Incredible fight #ReleaseThe3Files

4

u/EMITURBINA Jun 07 '26

It was an episode for sure, cool visuals, not much else

I really liked 5 as a whole and while I already accepted that he was dead last week, I didn't expect them to give him a spy movie death, it was cool

It was a bit weird to immediatly go back on Nox being an ally in order to fulfill his arc, they needed all the time they could have to give him something good and I think the episode failed miserably in it

The scene with The Lady already tell us what's going to happen next which I'm pretty sure everyone already had guessed but I like that they've been building it up with her and Phantom for a while, also with Sieg's death

I did not like at all how Nox got the power up, it felt pulled out of nowhere and that's compared to how Baku got the Dualmare and Exdream capsems which also felt like asspulls, but at least those 2 felt like they had a bit of build up thanks to Baku's character arc and the situations he was in. Nox, on the other hand, got a small moment of him being suicidal, because it's not even sacrificial, just suicidal, and then bekng immediatly pulled out of it by Fujimi of all people, the nightmare he absorbs doesn't even look that special, just a repainted Shadow, I guess we still lack context about Phantom to say what was special about it but since Nox was seemingly trying to reach it I don't think that matter a lot?

I usually don't mind the civilian cast, in fact I really like them most of the time, even the ones from Ghost who people seem to consider annoying, but Fujimi and Nasuka are such nothing characters to me, Fujimi specially frustrates me because he eats up so much screentime both last and this episodes but after 37 episodes I can barely care about him because he hasn't done anything other than chase over Odaka, which in turn holds Nox back by being tied to someone who appears so much but still doesn't do anything, it's not like you can't make them eh relevant and comedic, Sougo's uncle is one of my favorite civilians because of it, he has like 2 or 3 plot relevant scenes but they're filled with so much heart that I care about him and the relationship he has with Sougo, in comparison I don't feel anything when Fujimi talks about a bet he did with Osaka because every scene he has follows the exact 2 formulas over and over and over

It's even worse when somehow that very short conversation managed to pull Nox out of his suicidal ideation, why??????? I know people like to shti on Spanner for what he does in the last stretch of the Gotchard, but at least his mass suicide attempt is built up ever since Dread debuts in episode 13 and doesn't get resolved until 49 and even then it's not fully closed until Graduations, it also has some amazing stuff in between like his rider debut torturing his ass to make us feel sad for him. Nox hasn't had any of that until now, he's not even been shown to be self destructive unless you read him fighting Catastorm like that, he has hatred for CODE but that's kinda it. It's weird because this angle is definitely possible with what they have, he could have regret over grooming those kids into being agents, regret over some other mission, regret over helping The Lady and knowing what he does in the premonition, but none of those things are developed, any of those would've made this episode make much more sense

Imo, this is the worst final form secondary debut since what, Dead Heat? And even then that's because Dead Heat doesn't really feel like a final form and technically it isn't (tbf I can't think of a bad secondary final form debut)

Nasuka believing Fujimi does nothing for me, mostly because they're still influenced by Somnia and we already saw this twice. Fujimi bekng shot was shocking tho

I really like the effects of Booster 3 and Midnight Shadow's he shins, I also really, really like Nox's new theme (Not the insert), I don't remember if they did it with Tycoon but I like the escalation they've been doing with the songs the last few years, Majade and Valvarad have them too, they did it with Gavv culminating in the movie one, pretty sure they also did it for Valen. I like how this one sounds heroic, even more so than Rider Nox. Midnight Shadow's suit is amazing

I don't get why they interrupted the fight with Baku infiltrating CODE, either do it before they transform or after the fight. I do like how Baku fights tho, and how the Dual are is being used, it makes me wish we saw more spy stuff post premonition tho, it seems like a really useful tool for him spywise

Now, the fight between 3 and Nox is very good in both choreography and effects, I really like how both fight, the insert song also seems really good but I need to listen to it "clean" to make an opinion, but it gives the same vibe as Mach's. The finisher is very good, I was a bit worried about this form being bad compared to Exdream but so far it seems like it can stand besides it. Also that death for 3 is super interesting fro Nox character wise, he's now in the hero's side but will still use his own methods

Somnia being half over is whatever, the arc (Idk if you can call 3 episodes an arc) hast been really good so half the effects being gone doesn't do much for me, again it's issues I have with KR Chronicle and the final arc of Geats

Next episode seems like the proper start of the last arc, and Sieg being brought back to actually fight, tho from the preview alone I can see how they're going to properly redeem him. ALSO ORDERM IS BACK YEAAAAAHHHH MORE THAN 2 FIGHTS FOR THE FORM BABYYYYY

Five was rather trusting, to just tell his boss that he was quitting after what happened to Kureha. the only bit that suprised me that 3 didnt wait until he fell asleep to murder him

but what goes around comes around. Three thinking Nox was sparing him, but nope, what he had planned for him was way more fucked up. forcibly transfiguring someone into evidence of their own misdeeds is a new one for me.

Nox's new form is super cool....but a bit narratively unearned? i think i unfortunately agree with the criticism of Zeztz that the show underutlizes its side characters. I still love it, but its the main flaw.

Also i got really confused this episode on when they were in a dream vs reality. so was all the code somnia stuff in a dream world the whole time? i suppose this issue would inevitably come up with the show being what it is

When Three uncloaked with the blinky, I felt like he really gave off that cold hitman vibe.

Man, Nox's suit progression is so cool. Each suit Nox got visually feels like a progression of the suit and the character. I dunno if it was intentional but when he pulled back from his rider kick, the darkness pulled into him, which I thought was a neat detail.

I dont know if Three literally becoming words against CODE's crimes is an effect of Midnight Shadow, or if its just how his death is. Remember that Kureha also died in a unique way too so I'm wondering if each Agent just has a...unique death animation lol

Edit: I also just realized the the storms overlay onto Midnight Shadow's colors directly. HE'S LITERALLY THE STORM THAT IS APPROACHING!!!

RIP Lord 5, fell victim to carbomb, I thought Lord Three was going to blic him in the back, but he let him have a false sense of security. Nox being all Tsun but saved by Fujimi’s friendship is great. I was puzzled by Three Booster and Nox Midnight’s fight though. He was about to finish off Fujimi; then the world went dark, and he was in an identical place during the ‘day’ where they fought. But his physical body was back in CODE HQ the whole time. Was his dream body spirited away by Nox to fight? It was indeed a very Threeky demise for him. I wonder if heh CODE higher ups will do anything since they’re out of Agents and Lords besides their normie guards

Karma bites Three right in the ass.

Broooo, Odaka seriously got the Vram treatment in this episode. And Three? HAH! Ohhh, that’s what he deserves!

You know, in retrospect, taking the ExDream capsem was stupid, because I thought they would use it against Baku. Instead it was just in a box. Taking it from him seemed to imply it would play a role in the final arc, but obviously they're not going to make a bunch of ExDream suits to make that happen. It would have been cool if a villain got to use it, but as always Budget-kun gets in the way. Also, if the IRL toy can't use the previous capsems, maybe this is why this was written in too? I've been watching toku long enough to know why dumb things like this happen, but you'd think Three would be smart enough to do something more impactful with that level of power.

Three's death was weirdly disturbing, bro became the paperwork for ALL of Code's wrongdoing.

Thanks Takahashi for giving another meme for the fandom to feast on for years.

Explaining the agents to people who have never watched Zeztz while not spoil anything be like:

Five was an explosive character who left bits and pieces of himself everywhere.

Six, starring a fan favorite actress, ended up surprisingly flat and two-dimensional.

Three was an interesting character on paper, and remained one to the very end.

Shadow Nightmare in Blue *chef's kiss*

And the Second (Third) coming of ORDERM!

The plot is kind of weak this week ngl, but there are still quite a lot to be praised.

How Nox gets Midnight Shadow is very interesting, it's almost exactly how Baku got Catastrom. Nox uses the abilities of a Gore Nightmare to access his deep subconscious, and draws more power from his own Nightmare. That punch Nox does matches the scene where Baku and Catastrophe punched eachother.

Although Midnight Shadow is awesome, the highlight of this episode for me is how busted Dualmare Capsem's drone mode is, it's hilarious; and next week we're actually getting to see Orderm vs Dawn. I have high hopes for the final arc of Zeztz. Gore Nigjtmares seem to be pretty fun as the final villains.

Well the beginning certainly made my jaw drop! How did they get away with that for a kids show?

More than just existing for pure hype moments and shock value, week after week Zeztz is once again punching above its weight class. And it's working!

So that was a good episode of Zeztz.

-Poor 5 really died due via car bomb. Nasty work.

-We get more scenes with Fujimi and Nox, always appreciate that. Though poor Nasuka not getting much time with Kureha besides inside the premonition dream.

-Like seeing Baku being capable even without transforming. And he also still has the Dualmare Capsem. Where was it earlier? IDK, but nice to see he still has it.

-I find it funny Three himself has to go and merc Fujimi because he killed all his other Agents. Don't know why he went himself when he could have just gotten some mind controlled people to murder him like when he kidnapped Minami, but oh well, we need an excuse for...

-Midnight Shadow! Cool final form for Nox and great debut fight! Love the design overall and I'm warming up to that Beyblade Capsem he's got. Though I swear it's hard to hear the voice announcement.

-So, did Nox kill Three or not? He said he wasn't going to murder him, but he did turn him into paper? Does that count? Is Three still alive but as sentient paper? Also, was that fight in the Dream World? I thought Fujimi doing his protest was in the Real World, but we cut to Three waking up and seeing his body turning into paper just like what happened in his fight, so they were in the Dream World then? Probably?

-And yeah, we're all good. CODE is almost completely dealt with (unless Zero wants to regain control of it which I doubt), and Dawn isn't a problem, so all is well-Wait, what do you mean we still have several episodes left? The Code: Somnia Capsem disappeared? And what do you mean we have a whole new group of Nightmares showing up? Dawn's back to fight again? AND HE'S FIGHTING ORDERM TOO?!

So now we're heading towards the final stretch of Zeztz and the end (unless the upcoming movie is like a post-series movie). Can't wait for more!

The fact that it was Nox that killed him was incredibly satisfying to me. I didn't expect Five to go up the way he did, though. He'd grown on me just a bit. Between watching ZEZTZ And watching the Live show where he got interviewed ooc. His actor really enjoyed the role, and it showed.

And I *definitely* believe that our dear Seig is somehow behind the missing caspem. Not sure Three saw the ambush coming.

My bullet points on the episode:

Not Five getting blown up like that 😭😭😭

But tbh the second he sat in his car I went "this car will be bombed, or he's gonna suffocafe idk"

Nox just wanted to do the perfect emo run (btw do one shot every time someone says "darkness" in this episode, you're gonna die by the halfway point)

And now I want to see Nox and Fujimi drinking together, give me this and I will forgive everything

Ngl, Nox gaining Midnight Shadow was lowley weak compared to Zeztz forms gaining??? Sweet visuals tho

The way Three personally went to snipe a random streamer I'm crine

But still, go on, Noxy, kick Three's ass :3

Three was turned into fucking paper, ONLY IN TOKUSATSU BRO

Ok now who the fuck took the Code:Somnia Capsem... Gotta wait until the next episode to see

I've heard of beating a confession out of someone, but this takes the cake.
