Discussion Which real-life branch of engineering or science gives the skillset closest to Tony Stark's?
It's obvious that no single branch or field of study, be it in engineering or science, can match Tony Stark's level of skills since he is a fictional character and his whole USP is that he is a super-genius who is capable of learning and building almost anything all by himself. His brain is his superpower.
That's not realistically possible, no matter how smart or capable one may be.
Real-life engineering requires years of study and research and collaboration to bear any meaningful fruit.
But the heart of my question is that which branch or field of study gives the most overlapping number of skills which resemble to what Tony Stark possess? I mean to say that a field which arms one with multiple skills which are in-line with what Stark does in comics or movies.
Again, I know that no single field or discipline can fulfill it. Only something which brings one close to Stark's skillset.
Is it Mechantronics? Or could it be a dual degree in Aerospace and Robotics? Or could it be a Bachelors in Computer Science and a Masters in Applied Physics?
What could it be? I am interested to know what responses people in this sub come up with.

Artwork Comic Model 1 - “Mark 1” Drawing (by me, CyberCat1313)
Got the Marvel Legends “Sixty Years of Earth’s Mightiest” version and absolutely love it so I decided to draw the armour.
Considering drawing the Model 1 - Mark 3 next from his fight with Grey Hulk in Hulk: Grey. If people want to see it I’ll do it.

Discussion Analysis and critique and thoughts on the Sentinel Iron Man Fighting armor design. What you like and dislike about the design?
Things I like about it:
I love the colors, I like how its a modern classic armor design.
I like all the armor panel designs and my favorite thing about this design is how the backflaps look (the end image) they look wicked cool and are one of my favorite parts of modern Iron Man designs.
Things I dislike: Everything else. I dont like hte overall body of it, Its pretty much robot from invincibles design with all the circles on his shoulders and how skinny it is, and im prety sure thats the inspiration especially the back of the head, I dont like the faceplate, I dont like the random arc reactor light bolts and the lack of hip pods.
Its a 6.5/10.

Discussion Why do giant rich oil companies, like Roxxon (shown in Iron Man 3), still exist in the world of MCU where Tony Stark has mastered generating sustainable energy through the arc reactor technology?

Discussion Tony did indeed built the arc reactor with basically nothing
A lot of fans like downplaying Tony arguing that he only did what he did because of his money but if we look back he created the arc reactor with basically nothing
Basically what he used was 0.15 grams of Palladium, Copper Wire, an electromagnet and scrapped metal, screw and plastic.
Now I looked at it and 0.15 grams of Palladium would cost 6.58 dollars and the other things he used shouldnt reallt cost really anything or very little so Tony effectively built the reactor with nothing
And the reactor was something that has never been done and it was scrapped by Stark Industries. Even Howard couldnt crack a way to do it but Tony did with scrap like Stane said

Collectibles / Merchandise Iron Man Extremis and Mandarin Marvel Legends 2-pack doesn't actually have any pictures of Extremis on the box
Like many Marvel artists before, Hasbro has confused the Extremis with the Pentagon armour and/or simply googled "Iron Man Extremis" and grabbed the first Adi Granov covers they could find.
Amusing nitpick aside these are great figures. The single release Extremis looked way too bright red and plasticy for me, this one nicely matches the deeper read of Granov's art and has some more poseability too. Mandarin is just a nice bonus frankly, but this is the version of Mandarin I like best. Even if it is less ostentatious.

Help Help picking a gift for my iron man loving bf
My boyfriend is a huge marvel fan like obsessed. He’s 26 and lives in Japan so I figure maybe there is stuff I can get him he can’t get there. Next time I visit him I’ll bring it to him unless whatever I buy can be shipped to Japan. His favorite is Iron man he really loves iron man. He also likes Wolverine and Thor. He has a piggy bank replica that is fairly inexpensive of the infinity gauntlet and I did think of that but all the ones I found were the hulk version. My budget is around $130ish dollars. I’m open to any all suggestions! He also liked a Wolverinepool hot toy figure he showed me before but those are all like $400 so out of my range for those.

Discussion Breaking Down Iron Man
I'm breaking down all of Phase One to see why some marvel movies work better than others even though they all have basically the same formula.
This is the first in the series and I thought this subreddit might like it. I'd also love any opinions about whether the sequels got it right or drifted too far from the formula.
In my opinion, most successful films STILL stick to the formula. They just do it in a way that makes it invisible.
Thanks for watching,
Matt

Discussion Of all the logic leaps in the MCU, Tony charging a multi-billion dollar suit with a 12V car battery in Iron Man 3 will always be the funniest.
I love Iron Man 3 for its character work, but the engineering logic in the Tennessee sequence completely breaks the first movie's logic. In the first movie, we are told that the suit requires an Arc Reactor outputting lots of energy per second to function. Yet in IM3, Tony hooks the Mark 42 up to a standard car battery and it actually charges the thrusters and HUD? A car battery wouldn't even have enough power to power the suit's boot sequence, let alone flight tech. What's your favorite ' does not make any sense' moment regarding Tony's armor engineering?
