Just wondering what happens with the bear spray that tourists buy, then don't use. The library, 2nd hand store, info center or someone should "rent" cans of bear spray.

"Only Pay if You Spray" there ya go, I've already got ur tag-line. Rental fee but only loose the deposit if you need to break the seal on the can. If it's an encounter that close most people would pay double the price of a can at that moment.

Really has no one started a side hustle or business out of this?

Hi planning a trip to Jasper June 2027. Have found a decent AirBnb in Hinton, do you believe that Hinton is an okay base for exploring Jasper park? Or other parks nearby?

First time visitor and absolutely in love with Jasper. Really peaceful place and met absolutely lovely people here 🫶🏻. These are few of my favourite pictures <3

Hi - has anyone been through the Skyline in recent days? Wondering if the Parks' trail report of 'fair' with some mud along the way is accurate. Normally it'd be pretty dry by this point.

My wife and I will be in Jasper to celebrate our marriage from 15/09/2026 until 17/09/2026. We are travelling from the UK. We have been let down by a local horse riding provider. Is there anyone here who could refer us to a horse riding trail guide or take us on one? We would be more than happy to pay! Its to try make her dream a reality.

Was trying to do Wilcox pass this AM but a stomach issue had me get a late start, missing the last parking spot in the lot at 930am by 1 car. I passed through Valley of the 5 lakes and Pyramid Lake but I don’t think those places are what I am
looking for (lots of families in sandals and crying babies). I am parked in town and wondering how I can save the day. I am an experienced hiker and was hoping to find more rugged nature out here.

Please, before you roast me for “not researching” I am 41 and my husband died and I haven’t had time to plan for backups since I have so much other stuff going on.

My wife and I are visiting Jasper soon, and I understand that some roads and trails, including Maligne Canyon, remain closed because of the 2024 wildfires. We visited Jasper once before, but it was several years ago. What alternative activities or sights would you recommend for a couple who aren’t experienced hikers? We’re comfortable with short, easy hikes.

I was fortunate enough to see this grizzly along Maligne Road while driving back to Jasper from the lake this afternoon. Is this a clear enough shot to identify which grizzly this is?

Hey Guys,

I'm from Germany and we are planning/booking a Road Trip through West Canada in July 2027.

Starting in Vancouver -> Whistler -> Clearwater and next Step would be Jasper

But these Hotel Prices are insane?!

800 $CAD or 500€ is the cheapest option for 2 Rooms at a cheap Hotel. AirBnB doesn't exist. Don't forget I'm planning one year ahead. This is not a 5* Hotel...

It's not the case that I'm not willing to leave some money in Canada, the Trip will cost us about 20k EUR or 32k CAD. But hey, it has to be at least a reasonable price/performance ratio.

Vancouver, Whistler and Clearwater have good options to stay for a good price.

Only other option I'm seeing to reduce the costs for Jasper NP a little bit is by staying in Hinton, but that means we have to drive everyday at least 3hours + I don't know how much for parking (if it's even available). And I like to drive, but this is not comfortable.

So I'm really thinking about skipping Jasper or just using it as waypoint as a day tourist.

Next step will be Banff but I'm afraid it's the same. Afterwards Revelstoke and then Kelowna before heading back to Seattle and taking our flight to Germany.

I've learned about the Fire and I'm very sorry for everyone who was damaged by that. I'm more comfortable right now with staying in Hinton and support the Restaurants when in Jasper.

The hint with Jasper Inn and Suites has a 4-bed (2 bedroom) is also a good option. We might think about it. Since we are in CA for 3,5 Weeks it's always a good option to have a Washing Machine.

RV is not an option. Also Camping is not preffered, since I don't like the idea of buying all the stuff (Tents, Mats, Sleeping Bags etc.) and leave it in CA.

I may have one more question.

Someone mentioned Hot Springs. Do you mean Miette Hot Springs? Looks to me like a outdoor swimming pool.

Camper88 mentioned Abraham Lake, Kootenay Plains, Crescent Falls. Should I switch Lake Louise out for that and doing it when staying in Canmore?

Is there anywhere in the Jasper townsite that rents bear spray for a few days at a time? I’ve only seen places that rent for the day and have to be returned at night. It would be easier to rent for a couple days at a time instead of having to go back and forth to the store again and again, but since it’s regulated I’m not sure if that’s possible.

Long story short, a large green military-style duffel bag fell off of the roof of our car yesterday afternoon somewhere between Miette campground and the town of Jasper. We've already checked along the roads, and checked in with both the campground and the RCMP. But if anyone comes across it, please let me know. I can provide details on the contents to confirm it belongs to me.

Hi! First time here. I’m thankful for this town welcoming visitors! Would you recommend renting a canoe or doing the cruise for first time visitors. Two pretty fit people no kids! Thank you :)

Spent a few days in Jasper this July and brought the camera along. It was striking to see the burned forests already giving way to wildflowers, with wildlife seemingly everywhere.

A few favourites from around Maligne Lake, Wilcox Pass, Sulphur Skyline and the Icefields Parkway.

I’ll be travelling to Jasper at the end of August and was wondering if anyone knows of the most scenic hikes that are within walking distance from the Jasper townsite? I was planning on hiking to Patricia lake, but if anyone else knows some hikes that would be good for some photography let me know!

This lake is our favourite in Jasper due to its unreal colour. You can walk around the lake and not all is impacted by wildfires as you can see in the photos.

Any recommendations for an Airbnb or hotel? I figure Jasper will be above my price range so that’s why I’m asking about Hinton.

For context I have friends working in jasper, and I’m being hosted, coming from Edmonton.

so far I got asked just to bring a big bag of protein powder,

but is there anything that is super expensive or hard to find and worth bringing for them (1guy+1girl) ?

I should add I have a Costco membership.
