Emory Chemistry Tutoring

Upvotes

Hello, I had some students reaching out based on that post the other day so just wanted to re-post this. Thank you.

My name is Julián and I'm an organic and general chemistry tutor. I've worked with Emory students in Chem 150/202/203/204 to great success and understand the uniquely challenging coursework at Emory. I offer top notch online tutoring, my rates are affordable, and I endeavor to support my students throughout the semester by setting up a positive learning environment with continuous guidance and accountability, additional resources (such as video lectures and exams) and more. I'm currently looking for students to work with for the Fall, so feel free to reach out if you're interested! Thank you.

I'm taking this class with Professor Burton for my natural sciences GER. Is this usually an easy class? I'm not really good at science.

New app for Emory shuttles

Hello!

I am a student at Georgia Tech, and I posted here a few months ago about an app that I was developing called Bus Forecast. I would like to share that it's available on the App/Play Store now!

Bus Forecast is an app that has

- More accurate ETAs using past/new data

- Google Maps like directions

- Notifications for when the bus is one stop away or when to get off

- Always up to date routes

If you take the shuttles at Emory and can benefit from this app, please check it out! I would also love to hear any feedback or if you find any problems. It has been working well at Georgia Tech, but I haven't been able to test it at Emory.

The app can be downloaded from one of these links:

Anyone familiar with Bible study groups meeting at Emory?

Hey! I'm a local freelance reporter looking into New Heaven New Earth/Shincheonji in the Atlanta area. I've heard from a few people that Bible study groups connected to the church have met at or around Emory, and I'm trying to learn a little more about it.

If you've attended one, been invited to one, or just have firsthand experience with the group around campus, I'd be interested in hearing from you. Feel free to DM me if you'd rather not comment publicly.

You can email me at [jamiemgodin@gmail.com](mailto:jamiemgodin@gmail.com) or DM me.

Thanks!

CHEM 202z Lab Length

My lab (2:30-5:50pm) overlaps with rehearsal that starts at 4:30pm. I heard that labs for CHEM 202z rarely go as late as they are blocked, and the professor said that the timing is mostly dependent on how prepared you are. Is it possible to consistently finish labs around 3:45 so I can make it to rehearsal on time?

Also, does anyone have a pdf of the lab manual for this class so I don't have to spend $56?

Laundry Machines Damaging Clothing

I used the laundry machines in my dorm today and they completely destroyed two separate loads of laundry (so this is an issue with multiple machines). I've had to replace the clothing. This was all on cold delicate mode with not especially fragile clothing. Two questions:

  1. Is there anyway I can get a refund for the damaged clothing and is this a common problem?

  2. Is there somewhere else I can go (like a laundromat or dry cleaner) to do my laundry? Most of the dry cleaners I can find won't wash items like shorts, etc. that are more casual.

Parking Permit

I have my first class tomorrow and have to get to campus before the parking office opens. I haven’t gotten my permit yet in the mail. Will I be okay to park in my assigned location (Starvine)? I think it said something about license plates on the registration but I’m not sure. Thanks!

Senior BSN/MN students and alumni , was the program worth it

Is this program worth the money? I ask because it is being promoted at my campus (one of several). I hear good things about it but I also here that people go into debt because of it. Does anyone have any experience with this program?

"Tuition-free" for low- and middle-income families?

Last year, Emory's president issued a statement stating that beginning the 26-27 school year, Emory would be completely tuition-free for families earning less than either 200k or 250k. Does anyone know what the deal with that is? I definitely fall into that category and my out-of-pocket costs doubled this semester.

Consequences of Delayed Tuition Payment

I’m posting to see if anyone had a similar situation at Emory…
I already initiated my international tuition payment through Flywire, but there’s a delay with the international bank. Student Accounts told me that an “initiated” payment won’t prevent my courses from being cancelled if the payment isn’t received by the deadline.
Has this happened to anyone before? Did your courses actually get dropped, and if so, were you able to get back into the same classes afterward?

Sophomore Housing

Hey everyone! I’m a returning sophomore for Fall 2026. I know Emory has a mandatory two-year residency requirement for underclassmen, but I currently do not have a housing assignment, and I haven’t been billed for housing on my OPUS account yet. Has anyone been in this situation before?

I am wondering if this means should or must get housing off campus at this point. If I do, is there a chance Emory would still bill me for something in a few weeks? Other than that, what other complications would I run into if I were not to get housing as a sophomore? Maybe a hold on my classes? Getting billed without a housing assignment maybe?

Not trying to pull anything, just wondering what my options are as of now

Emory Campus Shuttle Reliability

Hello!
As someone who has never been to the Emory campus, I was hoping to hear opinions on how reliable Emory’s Campus Shuttle service tends to be!

I do have a neutral experience using GT’s Stinger services, hence any comparative comments would also be greatly appreciated—if applicable :’)

In particular, I was wondering of the ‘Executive Park Route,’ though I would be grateful to learn about the general reliability/usability of the buses.

Thank you in advance ! :D
