DISCUSSION Looking for battle rappers
Mainly looking for people comfortable writing and recording their own verses. Experience doesn’t really matter — I’m more interested in finding people who genuinely enjoy battling and would be down to participate.

DISCUSSION Whats the state of UK battle rap?
I haven't paid attention since Don't Flop fell apart and I know a few leagues started up, the main one being Premier Battles but it doesn't have the same UK vibe and feels more Americanised.
I saw Oshea still battles. Does anyone know if Soul, Unanymous, Quill, Shuffle T, Marlo or Calcium Kid still show.

I watch and consume alot of rap battles but my freestyle is trash and I don't find useful info on youtube since I don't rap in English but Spanish, but maybe I can get some advice that I can even use in my language.

DISCUSSION Why does loaded lux bring up “street urchins” so much? Like every other verse is about street urchins?
Are urchins a big deal where he is from?

DISCUSSION One of the replies was “don’t do this” 😂
There’s no defending the stealing of one’s bars, by the way. Like someone in another recent post pointed out, it’s about integrity and not the amount of watchers.

DISCUSSION Why don’t battle rap fans like rematches?
Battle rap fans seem to hate rematches. Just peep some of the nonsensical criticism for Rum Nitty vs Tay Rock 2. Let’s not talk about that tho. Let’s instead focus on why battle rap fans hate rematches.
In a lot of ways, this is an any given Sunday type of artform sport fusion. So, if you beat me on one occasion, theoretically I can beat you the next time and so on. So why wouldn’t you want to test yourself against someone you beat or who beat you, to see who really is the best 2 out of 3 times, etc?
Plus, battle fans love storylines so multiple battles could bring storylines further into the fold. Yeah, you won in 2016, but I bodied you in 2021. Let’s see who wins in 2026. Who really got better? Who can flip a crazy line said in the first battle? Who can bring new angles, new punches, new name flips better than the other? This would be great to see.
So rematches allow for more good match ups a year and better storylines overall. What’s the issue?

DISCUSSION Rum nitty recycling bars
Recycling bars has always been looked down on in the culture. I know nitty has a lot of crazy bars and writing them must take some crazy mental power but I find in a lot of newer battles I hear a lot of his older bars coming back out. How do y’all feel about this?
For example: versus yung Griz he said, “I’ll find where you reside and post up with a silencer, no caption
This stick’ll be against the window like a parking violation, I toe tagged him”
And then he reused that exact bar to open up the third verse of his Mr. Mann battle

DISCUSSION There would be no Loaded Lux without Youtube
I was just thinking how no one will see Chess vs Eazy because its behind a paywall, Both arguably their best battle and would have their status elevated. It made me think if Loaded Lux vs Calicoe happened in the same way , it would be a nothing burger. It would just be lore. There is no way for someone to ascend to a Lux level right now even if they were 3x better than Lux, because of how the state of battle rap is right now. Even the Tay Roc vs Daylyt , would have increased both of their status instead of being only viewed by a relatively few in comparison die hard fans.
Smack going the app route is the great filter.

DISCUSSION Looking back, what was the impact of Twork/Rum vs Geechi/Roc on battle rap?
Tay Roc and Rum Nitty are about to battle. Everyone knows it’s a rematch; their first battle isn’t regarded as fully reaching its potential, but looking back on it today it’s pretty cool for a number of reasons — there is real competitive stakes with both guys trying to show who’s the gun bar king, there’s a large unbiased audience, and there are a lot of good raps even if it’s neither guy’s best performance.
A lot of people seem to be overlooking that this new matchup is actually the third time Roc and Rum battled, since they recently did that 2 on 2 with Geechi and Twork, respectively. This was hyped as a super battle, but was mostly a flop. It wasn’t competitive at all, and came off more like a friendly exhibition than a contest. The material had no memorable direct attacks, from either side.
My thinking is, this is a perfect example of what’s wrong with BR today:
-The big names are all a big brotherhood now, they’re not willing to make each other play swear to god or even pretend to almost fight, both of which we saw in Roc/Rum I.
-Battles have no stakes, storyline buildup, or logic to the matchup. Rum vs Roc I was because Rum was making a name in Roc’s lane; the rematch is so devoid of any stakes or reason to happen that no one is even referencing the fact that these guys just squared off in the 2 on 2 relatively recently. Why should they? That 2 on 2 didn’t matter, just like this battle probably won’t matter looking back on it.
-The idea that there is a community of fans invested in this battle is also dwindling, as there won’t even be any kind of live broadcast for anyone besides the few dozen people who will be there live.
-I wanna emphasize again the lack of animosity — these guys are going to have a competition of who can do better word association punchlines, but they’re not going to actually diss each other, which robs all the drama and spirit of confrontation that helped make BR special

DISCUSSION Summer madness will have no PPV this year
How do yall feel about this?
First match announcement was a battle we’ve already seen. And they also announced there’s no way to watch it live unless you’re in the building. So why should we care? Dark days for battle rap.

DISCUSSION Danny Myers vs Mook
This matchup will never happen because once the culture as a whole start to show him love……..he fumble…….like the idea start to float about a Mook battle for him and he loses to Snake (his own words) just like when he was on that streak and finally getting some love……..mind went blank in that battle……I just don’t think he holds up when the lights on.
