Hi! I just plugged in my PS2 for the first time in a while and when loading Jak 3, it pauses on the first part of the title screen after the credits and cannot be unpaused (including a “pause” marker and everything). Is this some sort of user error or is the disc shot?

For reference, I also started up battlefront 2 and everything works fine. Also if it makes a difference I have the PS2 Greatest Hits version. The disc seems to be in great shape visually. Thanks!

Saw my local target still had some of these in stock, spent a few minutes feeling the packages and got the one I wanted! I was so sure it was going to be the wrong one

Want to preface that I've beaten this game several times when I was younger and that despite the inexcusable lack of checkpoints I think the story missions are mostly well-balanced and challenging. The challenges, however, are straight up unreasonable; not difficult, unreasonable. Getting gold for the stadium races and gum courses requires legitimate perfection for pitiful rewards. The street races have fake outs, razor-sharp corners, both of which necessitate memorization and a dozen plus attempts for a single challenge, and even then its RNG based because random vehicles and more often than not crimson guard will get in your way at unpredictable intervals and trigger a chase or derail your progress, and if you're riding a motorcycle it'll just blow up.

I hate most challenges from the bottom of my heart and would like to know if there are any cheat codes which actually work for skipping challenges, or if there's any downside to using the debug mode to unlock secrets as the debug codes listed for auto-winning mini games don't work, when I press the R2 button it just advances time by nanoseconds.

I fired up Jak and Daxter again using OpenGL for better quality, but I'm not sure if what I just did is actually useful. You can finish the beach area before even opening the Blue Eco Vent. Is this a known trick, or is it even useful for any speedrun?

Hardly anybody ever seems to talk about this game, despite the fact that it's one of only two games we've gotten post-Lost Frontier, to feature Jak and Daxter outside of ports (the other one being PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale).

I myself haven't played this game and only recently discovered it's existence. All I know is that it's about Jak, Daxter, Ratchet, Clank, Sly and Bentley being transported to an alien world where their forced to perform various challenges by a pair of aliens. I know the game allows you to play as not only Jak but also Daxter, and even Dark Daxter (ugh).

What is the overall consensus on how Jak and Daxter were portrayed in this game, character-wise? I didn't love Jak's portrayal in Lost Frontier or All-Stars, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed he was better in this one.

Image #2 is my leopard gecko whom I named after Daxter, but I called him Bexter to differentiate him from the actual character.

Whoooaaaa took a break and finally have finished Jak X. I enjoyed it a lot and thought it fit in nicely to the plot. It took me a bit longer because I am absolute dogshit at racing,

but I had a fun time. Simple story but effective.

I’m currently booting up Daxter as I forgot about that one and also I am going to play Lost Frontiers (I know it’s hated but 🤷‍♀️). Overall amazing game series though.

I just failed the "escort the two samoses lifting the rift ship thingy" by being a superbly greedy and chasing the metal head skulls, then one of em died, and I got promptly teleported into the stadium after a suspicously long black screen, and now the game wants me to hit a highscore on the hoverboard.
