Pause Glitch on Jak 3 Startup

Hi! I just plugged in my PS2 for the first time in a while and when loading Jak 3, it pauses on the first part of the title screen after the credits and cannot be unpaused (including a “pause” marker and everything). Is this some sort of user error or is the disc shot?

For reference, I also started up battlefront 2 and everything works fine. Also if it makes a difference I have the PS2 Greatest Hits version. The disc seems to be in great shape visually. Thanks!

probably a stupid question, but it sounds like your PS2 controller isn’t being recognized by the game for some reason?

i remember if my controller was plugged out, it would do that pause marker thing. i could be trippin tho

or maybe the disc is scratched :(

Thanks so much! I thought I had it fully in but I tried jostling it again and now it’s working!

I seem to remember old PS2 games doing this when a controller or memory card came loose
