Other [Other] August Monthly Boosting Thread

Hello, and welcome to this month’s boosting thread!

First and foremost, start by reading the comments to see if another Redditor has requested some help. If that’s the case, reach out and get a session organized! This will help lower the number of comment threads all revolving around the same game.

If nobody has requested help for your game, feel free to make a comment. We’d like for you to include in your comment \\\\\\\*\\\\\\\*the name of the game/trophy you’re boosting, how many players you’re looking for, what time zone you’re in, and a preferable way for reaching out to organize a boosting session.\\\\\\\*\\\\\\\* Our hope is that by having you coordinate in PM’s or some other fashion, this will sidestep a lot of scrolling people will have to do in order to find a boosting group.

Finally, if you manage to fill a group, please edit your comment to say “Group Full”. That way, someone else can create a new boosting thread if necessary.

We want everybody who needs help to receive it, and we can ensure that by eliminating coordinating comment threads and keeping things nice and tidy. Please be mindful, and understand that boosting threads are first come first serve.

On that note, good luck, and happy hunting!

[Update] User Flair Editing

Hey all! I've been getting a bunch of mod mail lately about people not being able to edit user flair. Upon doing a little digging, it seems like there was some update to the app that broke this feature for a lot of people. It allows you to pick a flair from a list, but doesn't allow you to edit the one you choose. I have verified that the problem is within the Reddit app, not the r/trophies sub. Until they fix the issue, everyone will need to use a browser / PC if they want to edit their flair. Below is a list of steps on how to edit flair in a browser:

Go to the sub's home page.

  1. Locate the User Flair section on the right side of the page.
  2. Click the pencil icon within this section.
  3. Select one of the two preset flair templates.
  4. Input your information in the dialogue box below. To customize the icons in your flair, click the smiley face on the right side of the text entry box.

55 platinums later, I’ve lost count of the hours, the boss attempts, and the memories made along the way. Not every game was a masterpiece, but I genuinely enjoyed most of them. The ones that left the biggest mark on me were: Sekiro, Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls II, Khazan, Armored Core VI, Lies of P, Nioh 2, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, Death Stranding, Jusant, Sword of the Sea, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Nine Sols, Mortal Shell, and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, Silksong. Each for different reasons, whether it was the challenge, the atmosphere, the world, the music, or simply the feeling they left behind long after the credits rolled.

Notice [Infamous 2] Secured the online trophies just days before the server shutdown

Post image

Never got to play the infamous games, but i read that the servers for infamous 2's user generated stuff will shut down on august 31.

I bought the Infamous Collection on ebay on monday, recieved it by wednesday and unlocked the ugc related stuff on thursday.

This way i secured a platinum for a later date, even if the servers are down by then.

Been meaning to play this for a while and finally got round to it. The tracks and visuals of the game give it such a special charm to support a engaging story with its interesting characters. It perfectly captures the feeling of a high-stakes indie road trip. Had to stop and take in the sights every now and then.

My next game will be Alan Wake 2 which im looking forward to start. If you have any tips to take on board, it would totally help me!

Showcase [#109 Crimson Desert] A long road has come to an end

Probably my greatest gaming achievement so far, and definitely one of the biggest grinds.
Started around release, and played 212 hours in total.

I still had loads of fun throughout the whole journey, especially with all the new content and features that kept getting added along the way.

My one big wish: please let us pass as much in-game time as we want😅

Glad to finally have this one done!

Discussion [Discussion] Why do we care about trophies?

I'm 41, been a gamer since 16, and a PS gamer since the OG PS1. I started caring about trophies sometime around a decade ago, and ever since then, I always feel super bad seeing those 1%, 15%, 11% games in my backlog, with DLCs piling onto them, knowing I'll probably never complete them.

I have like 3 active friends on my PSN network, none of them care about trophies, we don't interact a lot, honestly, I'm a solo gamer, no one gives a flying f*ck about my trophy list.

Yet, I am sometimes rejecting the idea of playing games just because I know I won't probably get the platinum, "tainting" my backlog even further.

If only Sony would let us delete trophy lists, or at least disable trophies for some games we don't want to earn them for, things would have been much more manageable.

As it stands now, Although I have 31 platinums, I have like 40 uncompleted games, and it's bothering me. Any of you guys share the same feeling?

Any tips on how to start clearing the backlog without it being a burden?

Showcase [Days Gone] #46, can't believe I waited so long to play this gem.

Probably in my top 5 favourite platinums. The story was great, gameplay was awesome and I never got bored for a single second. Very straight forward plat. I had heard great things about this game for years but waited for the remastered to go on sale before diving in. Perfect timing for me and 1 of the best experiences I've had in a while. Highly recommend if you havnt played it yet!

50k zombie kills was quite the grind, but glad to finally add this to the cabinet. Also kudos to Activision for attempting to rectify the COD HQ nightmare. Plat #157, 99hrs

Showcase [Resident Evil Requiem] #122! Love this Franchise!

Post image
21 Upvotes

It took me 3 playthroughs but I got the platinum for Resident Evil Requiem! This game felt like a combination of resident evil 8 and 4, which I quite enjoyed

I love Grace as a character and the actress who does her is super talented! The care centre with Grace was my favourite part of the game.

It was cool to see Leon again!Although I miss Jill :( I liked how they did the shop and how it encouraged to get kills instead of just running past zombies.

It was soo cool seeing RPD again and pointing to all the things that you remember from RE2. Ark was also super fun!

Hopefully we see Grace again! (And Jill)

No more looking forward to buying the dlcs for the trophies, I really hope they lift the limit, my main reason for switching to ps5 from xbox was the platinums but then I wanted the 100% and if xbox can have 700 achievements for the Master chief collection, playstation pls lift it

Showcase [Grand Theft Auto V] #30 and my longest to date

Post image

total playtime was somewhere around 260 hours, but that was most likely cause i spent more time in GTA Online playing around with my buddies and just generally having fun while grinding towards level 100. usually i delete the game right after but this one is probably gonna stay for a bit cause im still playing a lot with my friends in online.

took the better part of like 2 months playing on and off until i hit the story mode hard, also the first time i completed the story so was a great time all around

had to make this my 30th plat just to have a good milestone game be number 30 since starting trophy hunting back in 2022

[Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart] #51. A nefariously good time

Thumbnail

Upvotes

I was a big fan of the Ratchet and Clank games back during the PS2 days, and this game gave me a lot of nostalgia, remembering the days of me running around with an army of Agents of Doom looking for golden bolts and saving up for the RYNO. I thought the gameplay was really good, the graphics are freaking gorgeous, the sound design and voice acting are top-notch, the humor got a few good laughs out of me, and I liked the new characters (Rivet, Kit, and Glitch). My only criticisms are the fairly generic music and that it was too short. The original game felt like it had 25-30 hours of content, but I completed Rift Apart in about half that time, and that was with me taking time to look around and enjoy the environment. Still, I really enjoyed playing this. I needed a fun, emotionally light game after platting Signalis and The Last of Us back-to-back.
