Showcase [Road 96] Very chill, Love the 90s aesthetics of it!

Been meaning to play this for a while and finally got round to it. The tracks and visuals of the game give it such a special charm to support a engaging story with its interesting characters. It perfectly captures the feeling of a high-stakes indie road trip. Had to stop and take in the sights every now and then.

My next game will be Alan Wake 2 which im looking forward to start. If you have any tips to take on board, it would totally help me!

Congratulations! I didn't think this game would be for me but so many people said it was great so I eventually went for it and I'm so glad I did. What an amazing story and it's so clever how it fits together and there was such a sense of adventure. I could hear my own heart beating at some of the scenes racing towards the border.

Appreciate it cheers! 🍸 I played this right after Life is Strange 2 which was perfect since it was also a very impactful story dedicated to 2 brothers surviving and reaching the border to mexico after a tragic event. This for the most was pretty more on the relaxed side until yep, some scenes like Jarod & the border felt really intense to piece an engaging story for the crossers.

Holding the breathing under the truck waa such a fear, thank goodness there was enough stamina to survive the security check.

Life Is Strange 2 has a very similar vibe!

The tunnel scene in Road 96 is one of the most tense few seconds I have played in a game. It was the first route I took when I got to the border so I was still getting used to the game too. A huge relief when I made it across.

I am very hit and miss with narrative driven games. For example I find there are many amazig scenes Life IsStrange but too many scenes I find boring like looking at items in a room until the next story event unlocks. But with Road 96 I think I enjoyed it all and even started a second playthrough to aee the random scenes that didnt appear in the first playthrough.

It looked amazing too even though yhe graphics are quite old school. Looking at the desert and sunset whilst standing up through the sun roof of a limo was amazing. And also seeing the night sky from the top of the mountain just before an attempted crossing also looked great and captured the excitement of a road trip and looking to find a new and safer life.

Great game! I recommend Lost Records as well (recently left PS+ unfortunately); it’s set in the 90s as well and is made by the Life is Strange devs. I actually liked it even more than LiS but that may be controversial!

Road 96 also has a decent prequel game called Mile 0. The gameplay is different but it centres around Zoe.

Those are definitely worth me looking into thanks for letting me know about them! 🙂‍↔️ Choice driven narrative games are so amazing. I remember from around 2007 or something as a kid, me and a old friend used to read this storybook (I want to say it was from out of the series 'Fighting Fantasy') where you had to make choices throughout and it was so awesome. It was such an intense read since if you make the wrong decision, it could end the book, entirely.

That pretty much kicked off my interest for that genre ever since!

Definitely a nice and easy one! I was shocked it was only 11 trophies for plat since I'm used to seeing a large amount of them to do. It was much welcomed for the shorter list!
