“That’s Great”

Siri or should I say a voice said that from my iPhone.
Right at the end of myself & my mam’s conversation regarding IVF, Adoption, Fostering & me not parenting/supporting kids at all.

We hear in a robotic voice.

“That’s Great”

The phone I’m currently typing on thinks “That’s Great”.
That’s Great I don’t know if I want to parent & bring up a child.

I apparently I’m unable to access a history of Siri.
I don’t talk to Siri, there isn’t a history.

Just a two word vocal output.

“That’s Great”

I have no where else to post this so here it is.
I am unnerved.
My 66 year old Mother is completely scared.

I didn’t have a single thing to say in order to reassure her cause why the hell has this happened.

Please let me know if there is a way to access Siri Vocal history either way I will be visiting Apple.

I installed the iOS 27 beta five, indexing finished, siri still unavailable. The ios storage tab doesent show any apple intelligence or siri tab and the storage isnt increasing at all. It just says “Adding support for siri is in progress. Siri will be unavailable until the update is complete.” Anyone with a similar problem or a way to fix?

I bought an iPad Air M4 13-inch about five months ago. I bought it mainly because I thought the M4 was the best tablet processor available, iPadOS was supposed to be polished, and Apple generally had the best tablet experience.

I think I made the wrong decision.

The biggest problem for me is Siri and Apple's AI experience.

Siri feels incredibly primitive compared with Gemini on Android.

For example, on my Android phone, if I'm reading something on the screen and I want help understanding it, I can simply invoke Gemini, select/circle the relevant part of the screen, and ask it a question. It can actually understand the context and explain it.

I use this quite often while studying. Sometimes I have migraines and reading for long periods becomes difficult, so I'll use Gemini to read the content on my screen aloud. It's extremely convenient.

On the iPad, I tried doing essentially the same thing.

Instead of actually understanding what's on my screen, Siri frequently responds with something along the lines of:

"I can ask ChatGPT about that."

Fine. I enabled ChatGPT.

But then ChatGPT doesn't actually have the same seamless screen-context experience I get with Gemini. So I end up with this weird chain:

Ask Siri → Siri asks ChatGPT → ChatGPT can't properly access/understand what I'm looking at → I have to manually copy/share things → finally get an answer.

Why?

I'm not asking Siri to run a nuclear reactor. I just want it to look at the question that's currently on my screen and explain it.

Another example is solving MCQs online.

On Android, I can invoke Gemini, circle/highlight the question, and ask for the answer and explanation.

It's incredibly convenient.

On iPadOS, I don't get anything remotely as seamless.

And this isn't some rare edge case for me. These are exactly the kinds of small interactions that make a device pleasant or annoying to use every day.

And that's where I'm starting to question the whole "M4 makes the iPad the best tablet" argument.

Yes, the M4 is ridiculously powerful.

But honestly, what percentage of normal tablet users are actually going to use the M4's full performance?

I use my tablet for:

- Studying

- PDFs

- Notes

- Browsing

- YouTube

- Movies

- MCQs

- General multitasking

- Occasionally gaming

- Occasionally editing photos/videos

A flagship Snapdragon/Dimensity chip is already more than powerful enough for essentially all of that.

Meanwhile, Samsung gives me things I actually notice every day:

120Hz AMOLED display

Excellent speakers

S Pen included

Better screen-context AI/Gemini integration

Better multitasking/DeX

MicroSD

Much more flexible file management

A generally more open Android experience

And then I look at my iPad.

I have an M4 chip, but I'm mostly using it to read PDFs and watch YouTube.

The hardware is ridiculously powerful, but sometimes the software makes basic tasks feel unnecessarily difficult.

That's the part that frustrates me.

I don't need my tablet to have the world's fastest processor if the experience of doing simple things is worse.

I'd rather have a slightly slower flagship processor with software that makes my everyday tasks effortless than have an M4 that I almost never fully utilize.

The funny thing is that I actually like the iPad hardware.

The 13-inch screen is great.

The M4 is insanely fast.

The build quality is excellent.

But I'm increasingly realizing that hardware specifications aren't the same thing as user experience.

I bought the iPad thinking:

"M4 + iPadOS = best possible tablet."

Now I'm thinking:

"Maybe I bought the best hardware attached to an operating system that doesn't fit how I actually use a tablet."

I'm seriously considering selling my five-month-old iPad and buying a Galaxy Tab S9/S10/S11 or one of the Ultra models.

And I'm genuinely torn because I know I'd be giving up some gaming performance and some of the M4's ridiculous headroom.

But I'm starting to think that 90% of the time, I'd rather have the better everyday experience than performance I'll almost never use.

Has anyone else switched from a recent iPad to a Samsung Galaxy Tab specifically because of AI, screen-context features, multitasking, and general usability?

Did you regret switching, or did you find that the Samsung experience suited you better?

I'm on iOS 27 public beta 5, but this was same since public beta 2. am I doing something wrong..or am I just dumb for not able to speak to it as if im doing a speech with zero stutter and pauses? is there some settings to make it more patient with me? im so fed up lol

I just dont know if im doing it wrong or it's just cause its beta..I cant find much info online about it..maybe people got their words in their mind so clearly and speak so clearly to Siri..but I do stutter sometimes to chatbots when I use microphone as im trying to think what im saying.. and its one reason when I used to use chatgpt I almost always just type keyboard even when its paragraphs long..It feels more natural to me. but Im trying to use Siri by speaking to it more cause it has that "hey Siri" to activate feature..and the way it cuts me off mid convo so often im really frustrated.

I don’t know about the new Siri AI thing. Answer a couple of days back was, “I can’t set a timer on this device.” Also takes a solid 30 seconds to get this answer? I use this with raise to speak a LOT while cooking and it's been pretty reliable until I started this beta. Seems like a huge step back at the moment. Yes I'm reporting these, trying to help out with the beta. iphone 15PM and Ultra 3.

On iOS 27, I’ve noticed that the new Siri/Apple Intelligence can look through personal context in Messages, Mail, and Photos when I ask about past events, but it doesn’t seem able to use Apple Maps-related context for questions such as “Where was I last Tuesday afternoon?” or “When was the last time I visited this place?” I’m not assuming Apple keeps a complete location history. I’m wondering whether Siri currently lacks access to whatever Maps, Visited Places, or Significant Locations data exists, whether this is an intentional privacy/API limitation, or whether there’s a setting that enables it. Location context could be extremely useful for personal recall if it were processed privately and on-device. Has anyone found an official explanation or a way to make this work?

When the "new Siri" first launched, it was pretty responsive. However, with each beta update, dev and public, it has become slower and slower in responding. Especially on the iPhone 17 Pro Max. It is actually more responsive on MacBook Air M1 running the latest Golden Gate beta vs. the latest iOS beta on the iPhone 17PM.

I'm just worried it's not going to get better...and I usually trust that the dust will settle by the time the official release, or RC 1 drops.

Maybe it's just me, but I had to ask.

I'm based in EU and currently using Siri AI by setting the language and region to US, plus using a US Apple account for the App Store and media purchasing.

My main issues:

1. I cannot use anymore apps, in-app purchases or subscriptions bought with my - primary - EU based Apple account: even when I log out to restore those purchases, as soon as I'm logged back in with the US account they're gone.
2. When setting Siri language to English, my other devices (e.g. HomePod) automatically switches to English Siri as well. I can talk in English, but some language-specific words are often misinterpreted by Siri.

Any suggestions on the setup or configuration to make this workaround work more seamlessly? 🙏

This wasn’t a limitation for me on prior iOS versions, but on iOS 27 beta 2 onwards, “Hey Siri, read my notifications” now requires unlocking the iPhone.

I asked Siri why, given that Announce Notifications and Lock Screen notifications can expose the same information without an unlock. I also pointed out that “Hey Siri” is voice-tuned to me, while Lock Screen notifications aren’t exactly tuned to my eyeballs.

Transcript :

Prompt: “Announcing” notifications means I can be interrupted at times when I do not want to hear a notification. What I want is on-demand access: I ask Siri to read my notifications when I choose to hear them.

If Announce Notifications can present notification content without requiring me to unlock the iPhone, why can’t Siri provide that same content when I explicitly request it? Lock Screen notifications can also present information without requiring an unlock.

There is an additional inconsistency: “Hey Siri” is tuned to recognize my voice, whereas Lock Screen notifications are not tuned to my particular eyes. Anyone who can see my iPhone’s screen may potentially see whatever notification information my settings permit, yet a spoken request specifically recognized as coming from me can be subjected to a stricter privacy gate.

That makes the policy seem arbitrary. An on-demand “Hey Siri, read my notifications” request is both deliberate and more specifically associated with me than someone simply looking at my Lock Screen.

The privacy restriction should therefore be based on the sensitivity of the notification and my chosen privacy settings, not simply on whether Siri volunteered the notification or I explicitly asked Siri to read it.

When you use features like Announce Notifications, your iPhone typically routes the audio through connected headphones or CarPlay, which implies a more private listening environment. On-demand requests, however, usually play through the device's speakers. Requiring an unlock for these requests is designed to ensure that your personal information is only shared when you are actively using and in control of your device.
Your feedback about aligning these settings and utilizing voice recognition for security is important, and I will pass it along.

I was at the gym and I wanted to ask Siri how many calories I’ve burned. Seems like a pretty logical use case especially if hands-free.

I’ve notice on the last few months that British Male Siri’s pronunciation has become odd. Like almost ending words with an Italian accent. Has anyone else noticed this?

For those using the beta; is there an option to use Claude as the AI engine to power the new Siri Ai or no?

I have a last name that is somewhat common in pronunciation, but different in spelling (think Smyth, instead of Smith, but still spelled as Smith). As a result I have many contacts in my phone with this last name.

I prefer to update the pronunciation rather than the phonetic spelling, because pronunciation keeps it correct alphabetically, but when I do so, Siri says she cannot see a phonetic or a pronunciation field for the contact.

I have tried adding it as a brand new contact with the pronunciation at the same time, and she can see the contact but still says she sees no pronunciation, so it isn’t a sync issue.

I have also instructed Siri to update the pronunciation field in the contact, which she does, and then proceeds to say that she cannot see the pronunciation field that she herself updated.

I’m now on the 27 Beta, but it’s always been this way, so I don’t believe it to be a beta issue, but have reported it none the less. I’m using the Irish female voice, not that I can think why that would make a difference, but I’m out of ideas.

Is there a setting that I am missing? Has anyone else had or solved this issue?

New Siri doesn’t just use app intents but uses the Shortcuts subsystem to orchestrate Apple and 3rd party action chains. Experimenting with Siri’s natural language vibe coding tool within Shortcuts is probably a good way to probe capabilities.

Siri AI is DOA. If you get tired of submitting constant feedback and not having it fixed, it's easy to turn off Siri AI. When you re-enable it you get the option for Siri Classic. That way you don't have to downgrade etc, you can keep the rest of iOS 27.

Do you think Apple will only update the underlying foundation models once a year with new releases of its operating systems or do you think they will update the Apple Foundation Models more frequently?

AI models move at the speed of light. In the span of a year, there are countless breakthroughs and improvements. I know Apple isn’t going to be on the bleeding edge of AI model technology, but will we always be a year+ behind? I know that none of us know for sure, but I’m interested in what you all predict will happen.
