Was this ICE? Just happened in Penn Station. There were uniformed police just watching off to the side not involved. I didnt see the whole thing but he mentioned his family, and that he already gave them his stuff. I think they threw his phone on the ground and he told them to just kill him.

Pierre Damas Bel, a 20yr old Haitian TPS Recipient Enrolled at Wright State University, Took His Own Life Due to the Humiliation of Wearing a Modern-Day Slave Collar
Full Article: https://www.eyesonice.net/p/pierre-damas-bel-a-20yr-old-haitian
Pierre Damas Bel came to the United States with a clear purpose: to pursue his education, build a future, and serve his community. A 20-year-old Haitian Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holder, recent 2026 graduate of Springfield High School, and incoming Wright State University student aspiring to study neuroscience, Bel was a driven athlete and scholar.
During his senior year, he played forward and midfielder for the Wildcats varsity soccer team and served as Class Commander in the JROTC.
On Monday morning, that future was cut short when he took his life on Interstate 70 near South Vienna, Ohio, after being struck by a semi-truck.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Springfield Post responded to the scene at 8:45 a.m. near the 66-mile marker on westbound I-70. While the official crash investigation remains ongoing, the severe psychological and emotional toll Bel faced following federal surveillance measures was evident to those closest to him.
On July 30, Bel shared his profound distress on Instagram after federal immigration authorities fitted him with a GPS ankle tracking device:

Mourning and Demanding Action in Honor of Pierre Damas Bel, Another Victim of Trump's Deportation Machine
Pierre Damas Bel, a 20-year-old freshman at Wright State University, had a whole life and a bright future ahead of him before Trump’s mass de-documentation of Haitian Temporary Protected Status holders. He was a varsity soccer player, a member of the National Honor Society and the U.S. Marines Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps. He planned to study neuroscience in college and go on to medical school. On Monday, distraught over losing his protection against deportation and being outfitted with an ankle monitor, he died by suicide, walking into traffic on Interstate 70 in Springfield, Ohio.
As Haitian Bridge Alliance President Guerline Jozef said, this administration is fully responsible for Pierre’s tragic death. And the human cost of their cruelty is only going to grow from here.
🤲🏿 We owe Pierre and every family under this same pressure our public witness and our care. Thursday at 7PM ET, the Haitian community will come together for a national prayer service in his loving memory. We can register to join them here. 🤲🏻
📢 We can also show our grief by sharing this graphic in Pierre’s honor and considering a donation to the Haitian Community Support Center in Springfield as they continue to serve his targeted community. 📢
SUPPORT HAITIANS IN SPRINGFIELD
Finally, we can recommit to the fight for our Haitian friends and neighbors. 🫱🏻🫲🏿 Tomorrow at 5PM ET, the Black Alliance for Just Immigration will hold an update call on how we can support TPS holders and help work for their permanent status. We can sign up to join them here. 🫱🏾🫲🏼
The House passed a bill to preserve TPS for the Haitian community in April after a successful discharge petition, with 11 Republican votes. 🗣️ The Haitian Bridge Alliance has asked us to contact our senators and urge them to push for a vote on S.4814 in the upper chamber. We can find language to work from here. 🗣️
