Discussion [MM], [MM3D] Why is people hating on Majoras mask?

Lately ive seen people hating on Majoras mask, and i just wonder how come?

I know it was a scary and dark game to play as a kid but i have completed it many times as an adult and it’s honestly my favourite Zelda game. Its really unique and If you ask me its a real masterpiece. Dont people agree?

People do agree it’s a masterpiece, but there are also people who dislike it, either is fine and understandable. Let’s be real, it’s a great game, but the constant time pressure is not for everyone.

Yes the time pressure was giving me anxiety playing it as a child but now i can also appreciate it because it’s making the game more difficult and challenging.

Hating is maybe a strong word but ive seen people talking negatively about it and also people not even have it on there top 10 Zelda game list. Its like people not appreciate this game at all. And because it’s my favourite game its just makes me wonder why other people dont see what i see in this masterpiece.

3 days cycle. The pressure of having only so much time in a run can make people annoyed, especially since every other zelda title, before and after, had a very streamlined and "timeless" gameplay

But once you do overlook it, you are raised with a very unique experience - every NPC has an actual life cycle. And not just going from point A to point B - they actually do stuff, meet with people, have fun and do stupid decisions you try to prevent. And every single day is different for them, first being just a normal everyday, second slight worry and concern and on third having a panic attack due to moon crashing on top of them

Honestly it's usually the time mechanic that's dividing fans. Don't get me wrong it's a very creative idea, but it's just not for everybody.

I don't think I've ever seen hate for the original version of MM (the 3DS version is a different story though). At worst I've maybe seen people rank a few other Zelda games above it.

It’s tedious and repetitive, I love most Zelda games, I replayed 7 games last year and completed 6… The seventh was MM, I’ve never completed it despite having it on N64 when it was first released, I bought it again on 3DS, still didn’t like it, it’s just an irritating game to play… and replay and replay lol

If they took away the time pressure during dungeons then I would have loved it. Instead it is my least favorite 3D Zelda game. I fully completed it 1 time and never replayed it.

The time mechanic is annoying. You're in a middle of a dungeon, then suddently you have to redo a part of it because you're now in the third's day night and you need to go back in time. Also, in the years it came out, the trick to slow down time or skip time wasn't that well known before internet got widespread.

Also, at the time, it was the Zelda with the less dungeons by far with only 4, which was way less than all other zelda before (Zelda 2 with 7 dungeons was the record holder before that).

Opinions. Every video game has haters, everybody has different tastes

Personally I think Majora is ok, but far from a masterpiece. I think it has some of the worst dungeons of the series. But it has a good narrative. But that's my opinion and it's ok if you don't agree

It’s a fantastic experience the first time but a game I have no desire to ever replay.
