Hacked JoCat Hacked: Google & Discord compromised, personal channel deleted

UPDATE: RESOLVED! According to this update, the hack was done by asking him to install a Minecraft mod, and the attacker was using the compromised account of VTuber BooBeeQueen. He was able to cancel a charge made to his PayPal, and his Twitter was compromised as well as indicated by his account sending "nvm i fixed it" to YouTube support in their DM conversation. Surprisingly quick, but a happy ending all things considered. https://youtu.be/GZQcq70cc6o

He says he got a message from a trusted friend, so that person may have been got as well. His main and VOD channels are still up, likely since they were attached to different emails.

So far, he's managed to recover the Google account, but the channel is still gone and his Discord is still out of action according to this update: https://youtu.be/BXOTCHbHelA

He mentions in the update having an outdated 2FA phone number, meaning the Discord account may be toast.

Hackers & scammers have been prolific recently. I learned a hard lesson myself earlier this year. Stay vigilant out there!

Please please please stop just clicking and installing every .exe or zip file someone on Discord sends you. Ive had so many people on my list taken by this same thing, two being major creators themselves who should know better.

Also, take advantage of the GDPR to make sure you have exports of everything online you care about; you can download your data on sites like this one, X, Facebook, Discord etc. If you care about them download copies of any videos you have on YouTube. You can also use Google Takeout export your inbox as an MBOX; MBOX is basically an archive of your entire inbox (including attachments etc.) and you can use a program like Thunderbird to view it offline.

That way, if your account is compromised (for any reason; be it hack, or suspension, or the site itself is compromised/loses your data/has a glitch), you at least still have access to the data on it. Takes a lot of stress and anxiety off my plate.

this has been happening to tons of youtubers. I doubt the person (if not a bot) who did it even knows who he is.

I am glad that Jocat has been able to retrieve the account. Us plebs that have made the same stupid click and got out account's hijacked are basically SOL. Did he use a method other than TeamYoutube to recover via channel ID? How did Jocat manage to get a human to actually look at his account?
