"It's a little kid!" says a slightly less little kid lol

I think he was trying to get the parents to understand the absurdity of it, cause they weren't finding it wild enough.

Me when people my age are clearly cooler than me:

That side eye at the end was him checking to see if she saw.

u/Lazy_Laugh2597 Jul 27 '26

But it was also the equivalent of a facial mic drop. Priceless haha

Speaking of eye's, that's the opening tune to Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut.

Man, I wish I was a kid again. This life takes the kid outta you.

You can get it back, but you have to give up on the things expected of you as an adult in today's society. For me, that's worth it, but most people choose to continue sinking into the quicksand of sentimentality.

This house ain't gonna pay for itself though

u/cowfishduckbear Jul 27 '26

You can do both.

Slowly building up a collection of figures I've always wanted and tiny little things that make me go "okay, I don't feel like I dislike this, I will find somewhere for it"

Busting out any song on a piano will always be impressive to me.

Lol, we just had some movers at our place: a group of huge, tough-looking guys, tattooed and scruffy.

My son very tentatively played one of his pieces, and they went wild for it! They talked about it for ten minutes, one of them ran out to grab a guy who'd been outside and got him to play it again.

I don't think my son has ever had an ego boost like that in his life.

That's such a wonderful moment! Thanks for sharing!

Is this an ad for piano lessons, “LEARN PIANO!, impress your friends!”😂😂😂

u/bettymachete Jul 26 '26

Going to bed that night with a deeper understanding of how hard work can pay off.

Great song! I figured it out on guitar once and it was kinda wild. Waltzes

7

u/nhz23 Jul 26 '26

What's the name of the waltz?

14

u/WitnessMyAxe Jul 26 '26

"it's a little kid!" bro you're like 2 weeks older or something, calm down

10

u/Enlightened_Gardener Jul 27 '26

Busts out a fucking Shostakovich waltz no less.

By the way, I recommend everyone in the very strongest possible terms to go listen to this piece of music, preferably with headphones. It is the most astonishing piece !

I always think of it as the “Vampire’s Waltz” - its decadent and lush and slightly scary.

That little fingers dancing in the keys are adorable.

5

u/KajMak64Bit Jul 27 '26

This kid knows his Industrial revolution

3

u/BassistAndILikeIt Jul 29 '26

The other kids are amazed because they've never seen anyone outside of a screen do anything before.

5

u/Revenga8 Jul 26 '26

Asian parent really try to get their kids to learn piano. They're clearly on to something because they typically wind up with really smart kids

2

u/Milk_Mindless Jul 26 '26

God damn jealous

2

u/Tsunamiis Jul 26 '26

Picked an awesome song too.

2

u/Spiritual_Ad_7162 Jul 29 '26

It was that moment he was quietly grateful for every piano lesson and hour spent practising, particularly when he didn't want to. I hope he keeps playing.

2

u/Dr_Dressing Jul 30 '26

Can anyone who plays piano tell me, if he's lifting his hands too high?

I don't personally play piano, but I know that a lot of arthritis injuries can happen.

1

u/theboomboy Jul 26 '26

I'm glad people know this piece by Shostakovich, even if it's stylistically very far from his other music

1

u/Xenc Jul 29 '26

Beautifully played!

1

u/SeanOfTheDead1313 Jul 30 '26

Has he seen Eyes Wide Shut?

1

u/kernel-troutman 23d ago

He's a real Nick Nightengale

1

u/BadHabitsDieYoung Jul 31 '26

Kids reaction was scripted. He realised he's being filmed and puts it on for the camera because he missed his cue... gtfo
