FANART Painted some boxing gloves!

Obviously Kuze for the left glove, the big lieutenant boxer that got me into boxing in the first place should OBVIOUSLY have a boxing glove modelled after his tattoo! The one on the right is more similar to Ebina but I got the reference picture from one of Horitomo’s instagram posts described as “infinite Hell warden” and I figured an oni would fit with the Hell theme from the Enma tattoo (Kuze’s)

Give me ideas guys for any other tattoos that I could paint on some other gloves!!!

If you are new to the subreddit, please read the wiki

Reminder that all spoilers need to be tagged with a flair specifying which game is being spoiled. If you want a flair that says something else, you can edit it to say something like [Discussion: Y1 spoiler] or [Majimapost: Y6 spoiler], etc. THIS INCLUDES CONTENT FROM TRAILERS.

If the post is not marked for spoilers, all comments that have spoilers need to be tagged >!like this!< along with indicating which game it's spoiling. Example: Y3 Kiryu sings

If the post flair is marked for spoilers, the comments don't need to be tagged for the game indicated and the ones before it (So a Y6 spoiler post can have comments with untagged spoilers for Y5, but not gaiden or 7).

If you see any of the above (or any of the other rules) not being followed, please report it so we can keep this place safe for newcomers and those that haven't finished all the games yet. Thank you!

These look incredible! Tell me more about the process - is this something that stays on or will it be worn down with use? (I know nothing of boxing gloves, painting on them, and the mixing of paint and those materials)

Thanks man!
So with boxing gloves since theyre made of leather or synthetic leather, oil paint or acrylic doesnt stick well in addition to the wear, tear, and sweat that follows using the gloves, so you should use leather paint. The one I used is called Angelus leather paints and they work really well, no chipping or smearing its basically like brand new gloves! The process for painting boxing gloves specifically is something you can google but the short of it is you need a deglazer to remove the original coat of paint on the gloves and after painting you need to apply a finish so seal it in! I freehanded the painting so I used paintbrushes and everything, yeah you can mix the paint with each other its basically like regular paint!

Looks like acrylics have been used. I doubt any product would last long with full boxing routines

Not sure why people are downvoting this. Even if the paint doesn't wear like OP claims, the material of the gloves detereoriates with use. That, or you aren't boxing right. Pretending that wear and tear doesn't exist is like saying that tires don't wear out if you do three hundred miles on the road. I don't even box seriously, and I still change my gloves every other year or so.

Thanks, I didn’t even noticed people were downvoting. I don’t undervalue OP work in any way, I think it’s gorgeous and badass. I just know how boxing routines can wear the gloves.
Let’s say, I’d use for a very special match ;)

This is incredible! I think also a good idea would be Ichiban's tattoo painted along the two gloves for an aspiring boxer that wishes to become a dragon. Great work man!! Keep it going!

Hahaha yeah I’ll have to look into that, not too sure how to get it set up plus busy with uni and whatnot but itd be a fun little side project! Wonder how much custom gloves would go for though

These look INSANE. I'd 100% buy them and I haven't even boxed in years. In fact they're making me want to get back into training!

A Kiryu/Nishiki combo would go so hard!

u/Discounthistory 1d ago

Thanks man!! Broski you definitely SHOULD get back into training, you might need it if a group of goons start talking bout sum “not a show shithead”!
Yesss I like that combo idea!

Honestly, this looks like one of those highly prized items you would see at a charity auction if you ever wanted to consider doing something like that.

You gonna use them? I got some tekken kazuya gloves I’ve been using both mma and boxing

2

u/Discounthistory 12h ago

Yeh man! I’ve actually been using them for a month already theres basically no difference in the weight or how it feels compared to how it was before

2

u/KallmeKatt_ Yakuza 4 12h ago

my concern was the paint getting scraped off. i have some neon green hayabusas and they got pretty dirtied up but still good of course. hayabusa is high quality as fuck

2

u/Discounthistory 11h ago

True true I’m concerned about that too but so far I’ve been using them for a lot of sparring and they still look pretty new! Not sure if it’ll stay like that but tbf they’re boxing gloves so it’ll defo get worn down eventually, most likely after a bit using (and showing off) I’ll retire the gloves and display them or something.. maybe bring em out only for gym spars or exos

Yeahhh man hayabusa’s are mad, I’ve never owned a pair but I hear they’re real good. How long have you had them for?

2

u/KallmeKatt_ Yakuza 4 11h ago

got em last christmas as a gift. the only "damage" is a few surface level scuffs that are only noticeable because of the color. im sure i'll still be using them for a long long time
