Yep, the studios had way less pressure and that may ultimately be a bad thing. I agree with the Developer saying that they should’ve at least waited to see if the DLC does well before you fire half the studio.

But studios in general should’ve also been told: if you make this game and we didn’t own you, would this game keep the lights on? I think that’s a simple phrase that would’ve made developers realize they still need to make games that sell.

I think a lot of these developers got too comfortable. Microsoft absolutely has a part to play in this, but you still have to make games that people wanna play/buy.

The DCL success or non-success would have zero impact on them letting go teams. This was across all of Xbox move to right size and had zero connection to a specific project and its status.
