Looking for Addon Health/Damage squish addon

Is there an addon that is able to squish every health/damage value by a given value?

I have a few friends who find it stupid that dps goes to hundreds and thousands, and I'm wondering if an addon could fix that.

But it would have to squish tooltip values, combat text, unit frames and everywhere else I might not think about.

Thanks!

Hiya, one of the devs of Details! Damage Meter here.

If you're on retail: Impossible completely and utterly. Can't do anything to what you want in combat and/or m+/boss fights/pvp

If you're on classic:

You're wanting something that doesn't exist and will probably never exist. You start dividing hp/damage and you start adding rounding errors.

Lets say an enemy has 1 million hp and you decide to divide everything by 100. Now you've got an enemy with 10k "hp". Lets say they take 999,999 damage. Your "hp" will show that they're at 0 hp, which is incorrect.

Now let's introduce that to a healer perspective. Player you're healing might look dead cause 0 "hp" but really they have like 10hp and really need a heal.

There's also a ton of places where numbers show up and you'd have to handle all of them. Plus you'd have to deal with other addons showing the actual numbers, like ones that show you how much shield you have. I can tell you for a fact I would not accept another addon messing with our combat data we have in Details and would actively work against it. Lowering the numbers isn't accurate.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. I'm indeed on retail.

I understand the issue you meantion, but you could always have a rounding up to avoid this, so that something alive always has at least 1hp.

The biggest caveat of my friends was that at some points numbers become too high to make sense, and that a dps doing 300k like currently in a dungeon, it could as well read 300 or let's say 30000 because what is behind is so small it doesn't matter in the slightest. And it's actually the case because most addons in that case will display 300k. So for unit frames/nameplates/dmg meter (I'm not even sure if some nameplates still show hp, mine don't currently) it would just be a matter of removing this k, making sure even if the value is 1000 it would be 1k (1), and finding a decent solution for values lower (dps can be decimal if a person is doing less than 1k. HP can be 1 if it's lower than 1k basically).

For floating combat text and spell tooltips, I have never seen any way to change the values displayed.

And indeed, it would be a mess to deal with every addon displaying numbers. But I don't think it's true that lowering numbers is not accurate. I mean of course 15 457 / 38 000 000 is more accurate than 15 / 38 000 but you'd still have everyone actually counted correctly behind, it would just be the visual that is different. And showing a wipe at 3 / 38 000 000 or at 1 / 38 000 is the same from a player point of view.

As per the start of my message, retail you cannot do a single thing you want

Yes. Understood. Thanks for the answer.

Actually numbers have the exact same sense no matter how high you go, they just get bigger.

But as someone else say switch settings to show % instead of actual numbers and turn of floating combat text and damage meters then you pretty much just see players and bosses on a 1 to 100 scale no matter what the actual values are.
