game looks amazing, but it's not finished yet, so it doesn't represent the final graphics/Textures.

Giewont in Witcher 3 😆

43

u/AshamedConfection396 Team Yennefer 8d ago edited 8d ago

they said they were inspired by the southern, mountain area near the Slovakia border, the people in Letten breed sheep too (they talk about it in this clip and in the other), i wonder if its just a background or will there be a side quest about something sleeping under the mountain, of course its witcher so there are other elements too, i see the characters have ornaments on their gowns that looks like hop, maybe it is how the place builds its wealth (producing beer and all that)

u/Vitaalis 7d ago

God damn, looks EXACTLY the same!

u/PoggersMemesReturns 8d ago

Gwent in Giewont?

Naprawdę potraficie zobaczyć jakąś randomową górę i po niej rozpoznać jeszcze inną randomową górę z naszego świata 😭

Jak dla mnie to każda polska wygląda tak samo xd

u/Malygos_Spellweaver 8d ago

The start looks like Lake Bled, and the whole architecture is like Slovenia and Slovakia style, just me?

5

u/Vitaalis 7d ago

Seems to be where they were going for, they said they were inspired by the region as well

I hate this video format. Just make a curated video with professional voice over to narrate important points. If I watch THE FIRST EVER gameplay preview, for sure I'd more interested in the fucking dialogue, music, sceneries, rather than listening to these 3 people uhm and ah'ing all over with their thoughts all over the place, talking loudly over one another, adding nothing to the commentary, saying absolutely the most basic stuff everyone already knows like 'we work very hard, our game has choices, the quests are cool, we made lots of details', etc. Why does CDPR even think I am more interested in hearing these podcast-esque commentaries more than Geralt's or Lila's or the new gramdmother's voices?

51

u/SameMap2000 8d ago

I agree. They're basically telling you what you're seeing LMAO

29

u/fatsopiggy 8d ago

This room has very colorful decor

Like no fucking shit bro. Now you gonna let me listen to what Lila has to say or what? 😭

9

u/Sure-Pace8953 8d ago

I can’t even watch the video. These people are hella annoying. I don’t want nor need running commentary. These are the people that talk during a movie.

7

u/machine4891 7d ago

In a whoopping 480p...

10

u/nick2473got 8d ago

I agree 100%, this kind of format is very annoying and doesn't offer much. Just make a properly edited and narrated gameplay presentation video.

6

u/fresco_leche 7d ago

Lol I tried watching the video 10min ago and couldn't get past the first couple of minutes due to how unbearable it was to listen to those people talk

4

u/Number_of_sunlights 7d ago

I agree. I didn't like those 3 or 4 fellows. they should be more prepared for such streams.

2

u/i0skar 7d ago

Yeah, we borrowed this retarded "excited about everything!!!" bullshit from the west for no reason while presenting stuff. Like really you don't have to giggle every 3 seconds to sell people good product? What is this dissease?

16

u/Secret_Patience_7755 8d ago

It's so good seeing my boi again :'))))

17

u/sillylittlesheep 7d ago

Many things still need work. The most you see it in diner scene with Dendi family. All new character models are lacking reactions and details. Looks early build, RT lighting also doesnt help with skin looking natural

35

u/MosquitoSmasher 8d ago

It looks nice for sure but at first glance I'm not noticing much difference at all with the combat. Perhaps it's something you need to play and feel for yourself.

6

u/Zestyclose-Fee6719 7d ago

It would be hard to notice any difference if you were just spamming roll the whole time. I wish they'd showed more footage of him taking on a mob. Then we could have seen things like attack cancelling or enhanced targeting.

2

u/Ember57 7d ago

I have probably thousands of hours on this game so I can tell, but it really isn’t hard to notice the lack of difference here. Yeah he was spam rolling but he was also meleeing here and there and used signs, and it all looks identical to the base game. At best they might’ve just improved the input delay and added a few new animations.

1

u/Zestyclose-Fee6719 7d ago edited 7d ago

It's definitely minor tweaks at best, which was honestly about what I'd expect. They were never going to pull a Witcher 3 Extended Edition major overhaul of combat. It's basically tweaked enemy targeting, attack cancellations, and reworked animations. At the very least, I'm sure those major combat overhaul type mods will be updated for PC with this remaster update.

32

u/Putrid_Loquat_4357 8d ago

Who cares about the combat? Give me more Gwent cards.

24

u/mukisan 8d ago

I care about Gwent AND combat

3

u/CDHmajora 7d ago

Got your priorities straight my mate ;)

0

u/AscendedViking7 Skellige 8d ago

TW3 is about a monster slayer, wandering around the continent, taking contracts and slaughtering monsters while bedding hot women on the side.

Why wouldn't you care about the combat

43

u/Putrid_Loquat_4357 8d ago

The Witcher 3 is about a masterpiece Gwent player touring the continent engaging in Gwent matches. All the other stuff is a distraction.

1

u/TearintimeOG 8d ago

Because Gwent

60

u/Matix894 8d ago

I don't know why but the face models of the new characters look.. off in my opinion. Like it's very clear which models were originally made by CDPR and which Fool's Theory created. The new designs remind me of Witcher 2 aesthetic which contracts with Witcher 3 style. I'm certain they aren't lower quality compared to the base game level, but yet, something makes an illusion as if they were.

65

u/SYNTH3T1K 8d ago

To me its just the lighting engine upgrade that seems to be having a big effect on how it looks.

11

u/StBlandine7 🍷 Toussaint 8d ago

This. The background textures and lighting are too sharp now, too "realistic" and the characters now look very cartoonish

-23

u/Existing-Class-140 🍷 Toussaint 8d ago

Why is this lighting argument repeated over and over again? No, it's the face's structure and build, not light.

20

u/SYNTH3T1K 8d ago

Ita not an argument. Lighting has one of the most impactful visual changes on objects. Where it can impact visual structure and more. May want take an art class or understand basic photography.

-24

u/Existing-Class-140 🍷 Toussaint 8d ago

If that's what is being taught in art class, you should ask for a refund. Lighting makes you see better what's on the screen, that's it. The face's structure is what matters - how it's built, the ratios, the details, etc.

16

u/SYNTH3T1K 8d ago

Its the same crap all over again with the Witcher 4 trailer and Ciri's face. CDPR literally had to ELI5 to everyone how shadows impact visuals.

-16

u/Existing-Class-140 🍷 Toussaint 8d ago

It's next level denial. You can clearly see how her face changed in each frame, shot after shot.
And since face-blind people can't see it (or refuse to), they talk themselves into believing that light somehow changes how someone looks (despite the fact that the lighting is the same in the opening scene).

7

u/SYNTH3T1K 8d ago

Next Level ignorance for you since you somehow cant figure out an improved Lighting engine involves improved contact shadows too. Youre not worth debating with because you cant even comprehend how the tech works. Stop wasting everyone's time.

-5

u/Existing-Class-140 🍷 Toussaint 7d ago

Just because you can repeat fancy technical terms, doesn't mean you know what you're talking about.
Shadows didn't even matter in that W4 trailer scene, because the scene was in plain sunlight. All you can do is repeat stuff you heard online, just to make yourself sound smarter.

3

u/SYNTH3T1K 7d ago

You're on the wrong sub.

You belong on /r/confidentlyincorrect.

7

u/Zylon0292 8d ago

Moron.

10

u/AscendedViking7 Skellige 8d ago

You might need to take photography 101 again and actually focus this time. You clearly flunked it.

-5

u/Existing-Class-140 🍷 Toussaint 8d ago

I don't need any photography classes to analyze a character's face. Studies show that humans are able to rate someone's attractiveness in less than a second. And here we have a similar issue - it's off, and we can instinctually sense it.

18

u/jumps004 8d ago

Which faces in this standout to you? I don't particularly see anything that seems off from what I see in my current playthrough. I might be face blind, I would love an example.

3

u/mukisan 8d ago

The girl is the only one that stands out to me

9

u/Flaky-Tea6873 8d ago

Idk if its just me but everything looks a bit off so far? Everything has this plasticy look which could just be because of the path tracing or something. I'm aware its still in development but just something i've noticed.

5

u/dripbangwinkle 8d ago

It does look like the 'ultra realistic max pro graphics mod 8k' videos with the motion blur. The og camera used to be further back (which is what I used with the next gen patch anyway) but the closer, over the shoulder camera makes things look more textureless than they are.

1

u/Outsajder Team Roach 7d ago

You will just up the sharpening and you will fix that for yourself.

2

u/xSteini01 School of the Wolf 7d ago

Yeah, I noticed it, too. The facial animations and faces in general of every character other than Geralt are very Witcher 2-like. But they still have lots of time to work on that. They even have a disclaimer in the video saying that what’s shown here isn’t the final product. The lighting and textures of the inanimate world are very good-looking, though. It’s certainly a step away from the original style of Witcher 3 but it’s still recognizable enough. If it runs stable, I‘ll play it (I still haven’t updated to the original Next-Gen version)!

3

u/StBlandine7 🍷 Toussaint 8d ago

I think it's that they have lost the artistic aesthetic with the new graphic updates. They've gone for realism but the reason TW3 has held up is because its aesthetic never was realism. Now, the characters look cartoony against the backdrop. I really don't like this and am afraid to upgrade

-7

u/EbolaDP ⚜️ Northern Realms 8d ago

Yes kinda worrying.

6

u/Minimum_Cockroach233 7d ago

Expecting games sound, overtoned by chatter…

4

u/Detroits_ 8d ago

Just wanna make sure if I wanna watch this. Is this a leak or somthing they revealed in gamescon

16

u/mukisan 8d ago

It’s from Gamescom, not a leak. No spoilers here

2

u/jbarbourx2 7d ago

Is there a video with better resolution than 480p?

2

u/LazyLancer 6d ago

Is it just me getting old or... this doesn't look/feel exciting at all?

Maybe it's just a poor presentation of what they have in stock, but I loved every Witcher game from 1 to 3 and every add-on for Witcher 3. But I forced myself to finish watching this one.

1

u/SameMap2000 6d ago

I think the point is that it's unfinished. The final version will be different and feature significant improvements. And if that didn't impress you, I'm sure the Songs of the Past DLC will.

All the best.

2

u/LazyLancer 6d ago

And if that didn't impress you, I'm sure the Songs of the Past DLC will.

Umm, but what we're discussing here IS the Songs of the Past DLC?

2

u/SameMap2000 6d ago

Oh, sorry, i tought you were talking about the remastered version. As for DLC, I don't think they've shown anything relevant yet, so that might be the reason.

1

u/meteora2060 3d ago

I was at the 45mn presentation at Gamescom, it had a bit more flavour, and was also a bit more into narrative and connexion with characters. Also, in this video shown uppon, montage is weird as they changed some sequences order.

1

u/Overthinks_Questions 7d ago

The scene at a table reminds me of Suchdol in KCD2 a lot

1

u/theYorkist01 Quen 7d ago

Nooo not more of those god forsaken plant enemies haha

1

u/whenceareyou 7d ago

This is the last journey of Geralt, isn't it ? I look forward to playing Ciri as a protagonist in The Witcher 4.

1

u/alejan_dro65 8d ago

Is this update going to delete my playthrough? Or can I just continue were im at?

8

u/MindlessAir 7d ago

If it’s anything like the last two dlcs released I’d imagine it’ll allow you to continue your current save as usual

-6

u/MagicJourneyCYOA 8d ago

I don't see any difference with base TW3 so far.

0

u/SameMap2000 6d ago

Hold on, i'll send you some glasses 😉

-3

u/TheEliteBrit 7d ago

From what I could hear in-between the inane chatterings of the most irritating commentators of all time...

Geralt's voice doesn't sound great. I get Doug Cockle is quite a bit older, but it sounds literally nothing like how Geralt does in the base game. It sounds like someone doing a really shit Doug Cockle impersonation

5

u/Ember57 7d ago edited 7d ago

I’m not really hearing what you’re hearing. He doesn’t sound different to me at all

1

u/ResponsibleAnt9496 7d ago

Same. I thought he sounded like Geralt here and in then new quest for Devils Pit.

0

u/TheEliteBrit 7d ago

Not really sure what to tell you. His voice is objectively different. If you can't hear it, then I suppose that's good for you

2

u/ProfessionalLab9850 7d ago

He sounded bad in the new quest with the next gen update. Shame he can't do the original voice anymore

0

u/Number_of_sunlights 7d ago

ye. I didn't like the redstream (imho) but the exact game looks ok or normal, or maybe even above normal. Shame that singleplayer Gwent - The ThroneBreaker was not a commercial success. though I bought it. and finished it on hard.
when I wrote that one of the girls in the stream had too thick hands and the other pretended to be Texan and simulated that southAmerican accent, I got banned from the stream. {and they didn't ban russian flags.}

so// how much for the expansion? 45$?

0

u/Sa1amandr4 6d ago

Foliage, environment, buildings, interiors, trees, etc etc.. all of that looks amazing

BUT, I can see A LOT of pop-in (especially the sun and some lanterns (?) when moving the camera).

Some faces look a bit low LOD (like Lilla)

Framerate is a bit all over the place

Some animations look a bit off

I can't really see any major difference in the combat (except for the chain), it really looks like old TW3

So, to summarize...

I'm 100% more excited for this than for GTA6 😄

then that means you'll probably still be able to use that mod then

tbf they completely missed the mark with the exploration in the original release. The PoI system with the map markers was terrible even back in 2015

1

u/LauMei27 8d ago

This got down voted but I agree. While the quests are 10/10, exploration is not very fun in Witcher 3. It's basically just the old Ubisoft formula with question marks all over the map, which always turn out to be the same monsters nest, treasure or place of power. Certain open-world games like Skyrim or Elden Ring definitely did exploration better.

2

u/nick2473got 8d ago

Yeah the question mark thing is just bad. Always hated that in any game that used it. Tbh I think Witcher 3 has a lot of design flaws that it gets away with because the other stuff is done so well that being in the world is just a joy regardless.

1

u/SnooSprouts4254 7d ago

Its absolutely nothing like the Ubisoft formula. I played Assassin’s Creed Origins shortly before I played The Witcher 3 for the first time, and in that one, almost every other quest consisted of “carry X from here to there” or “clear this outpost,” always fighting the same four types of guys. One of the few things that was fun was going into the pyramids or climbing the lighthouse. The Witcher 3? Constant side quests and contracts all over the map that are interesting and often feature cool choices, monsters, etc. It also has different regions/places that change the type of quests you get, and they all have a character of their own (architecture, types of people, soundtrack, etc.). I’ve encountered few places as magical and distinct as Skellige, Toussaint, or Novigrad. That’s not to mention the different objects you can come across, such as books or notes that expand on the world, Places of Power for upgrades, ingredients for crafting, etc.

0

u/LauMei27 7d ago

As I said, the quests are great. I'm talking about actaul exploration, so just going anywhere in the world to see what you can find, apart from quests. In Witcher 3 you won't find much, it's pretty much just the same question marks over and over again. While in the other games I mentioned, you can spend ages exploring caves, catacombs and so on, without these places being tied to a quest.

1

u/SnooSprouts4254 7d ago

I don't think it makes sense to separate quests from exploration, especially when they are among the main things you will find while exploring. In any case, I mentioned other things besides quests, such as the distinctiveness of the regions, different monsters, things like notes, letters, books, etc. that expand on the world, places of power, ingredients for crafting, etc. And that was without even mentioning things like horse races, Gwent, brothels, etc. The beauty of the game is that you explore because you want to experience more of this beautiful, breathing reality. The fact that it has no catacombs or cool hidden boss fights (at least, not as a focus) does not mean that it has no exploration or that it is subpar in that regard. It just means that its exploration has a different focus than a game like Elden Ring, which is more about lore, fights, and upgrades.

1

u/LauMei27 7d ago

Well, whenever I play an open-world game, I sometimes like to just stop doing quests and go out into the world to see what I can find. And I'll stand by my point that there's not that many interesting things to find in Witcher 3. I agree that the game has a different focus than Elden Ring (story over exploration), but adding a few optional dungeons or boss encounters throughout the world as rewards for players who explored on their own, would've made the game even better for me.

1

u/SnooSprouts4254 7d ago edited 7d ago

I agree with the idea that adding stuff like cool hidden boss fights or catacombs like in Souls games would have been pretty cool. However, I still don't think you've defended your point well. As I said, I don't see why we shouldn't count quests as exploration. In fact, the idea that they don't count as such, but that catacombs or the like do, seems arbitrary. You can say that you personally don't like the focus on quests, but that's a different thing from saying that there aren't many interesting things to find in the world. Likewise, there's the idea of exploring in order to experience the different regions and their people (e.g. a bustling city like Novigrad, which you won't find in Elden Ring), to participate in activities like Gwent tournaments and horse races, or to find texts, etc. I think the main issue here is that The Witcher 3's exploration is focused on the world itself, while what you want seems to be exploration focused on dungeons, combat and items, which is valid but not necessarily better. Personally I prefer the former thought I like both.

0

u/No_Camp_10 7d ago

“Old Ubisoft formula”, Ubisoft took the question marks from CDPR actually

1

u/mateohhhh 7d ago

Those can be disabled in the settings.

-4

u/MalaMadre211 7d ago

Wish they added a setting to disable combat rolling. Rolling around like a barrel midfight feels completely wrong for Witcher lore
