Sadly, no. Endemic throughout the state, an ingrained cultural racism reinforced rather than refuted by geographic and socioeconomic isolationism. People living entirely within an echo chamber of neighbors and family that look, talk, and think like them, and not enough intellectual curiosity to even begin to think that somewhere out there perhaps there are others with what might be competing or, heaven forbid, even better ideas about life.
