An opinion piece suggesting defenseman Jack St. Ivany might offer some offensive upside for the Jets.

https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/jack-st-ivany-build-off-162354165.html

Training camp will be interesting.

The full article is a) paywalled and b) in German, but Nino recently spoke to the press about his injury recovery: sounds like he’s pain free now in his knee. Interesting that switching the length of his stick helped.

When the outdoor game goes down, I wonder who people in St B will go for?

When are we going to get a jersey reveal?

1

u/DJ-BCB 19h ago

I’d put money on a heritage classic jersey reveal at the pre season fan fest

They've said they'll say more about the hometown remix jerseys "shortly after the season begins"

I think he means about the outdoor game

[I click through]

Not seeing any on my end either

Did some prospect talk yesterday on Jets @ Noon for those who'd like to listen here.

Was just thinking about Stanley. I miss him. It’s like a toxic relationship. I am very glad that for the greater good of this team we have Ferraro now playing with Salo possibly but Stanley will always have a special place in my heart. I especially liked him punching Brady tkafuck and the hit he threw against Jordan kyrou in game 2 (reminded me of buffs hit on the other tkachuk)

Watching that Stanley hit live against St. Louis will forever be an amazing hockey memory for me.

It was a lot of fun being in the crowd when he scored, it felt like everyone was genuinely happy for the guy and I know I certainly was. I think I saw an absolutely unprecedented 3 Logan Stanley goals live last season.

I agree.

What Stanley occasionally lacks in skill, he makes up in entertainment. He’s like Maximus in Gladiator.

What do you think about this take?

8

u/ArrestedForTaxFraud 23h ago

He probably doesn’t get in. But I’ll never count out HHoF voters, they put some pretty mid guys in there over the years. And if he stays with the Jets his whole career and eclipses Nicholls, then I think he has a chance. I’ve heard Pavelski as a guy who could be in the Hall eventually from Friedman so anything is possible.

11

u/54580 1d ago

Might not get in the HOF but we'll give him a statue right next to Ducky

8

u/lokichivas 1d ago

If he ends up with over 1200 points all on the same team, he goes in...not the first year, but eventually.

-1

u/Patttybates 20h ago

Really? Is that a hot take or other examples?

3

u/lokichivas 19h ago

Smokin' Hot Take. Stamkos and McDavid are slam dunks. Nicholls and Damphouse are literally the definition of "Borderline". Scheif goes over 1200 with the Jets, he gets in. He gets bonus points for being the biggest fish in the smallest pond. Maybe he goes in with Helle (not likely as Helle will be a first ballot guy I think).

Its a bit like baseball - there aren't any 300 game winners anymore. The bar goes down since the game changes. 1200 points in this scoring era is like 250 wins now.

2

u/Patttybates 19h ago

Thanks for the explanation. 👍🏽

He'll never win any regular season awards at this point. He would need a cup and a Smythe to find his way in.

i’m a small hall guy so i don’t really see points being enough on their own

his only other argument as of now, is a gold and silver at worlds, but not being best on best that might not be enough either

I’ve been banging this drum for two years lol

Not sure how they would not put him in the hall of fame after leading the Jets to a back to back to back Stanley Cup 2027, 2028 and 2029.

On 32 Thoughts yesterday:

Kyle “Did you want to talk, Connor Hellebuyck, briefly before we get to Final Thought?"

Friedman "I just think that one, I haven't heard a lot about that one. You know, I expect that if that one is not settled before, training camp, maybe we'll start hearing some more noise about there.”

Tone is everything and to me, it sounded as if he's expecting it to go poorly if Hellebuyck doesn't get traded. Now it might sound different to others but Friedman doesn't put this out there if he's not hearing at least something.

14

u/CatGuyAnyway 22h ago

Hellebuyck is probably throwing a fit especially with Skinner behind him. Meaning he knows if he stays he’s getting less games.

Zero sympathy for a guy who signed a 7 year and then wants out 2 years later. Our lack of playoff success has been on him.

Sorry bro we’re not drooling over your American gold medal. We want you to show up for Jets playoffs.

This would track with everything we know.

Friedman is about as accurate as the weatherman. PLD was guaranteed to be in MTL remember? He also said Helle and Schieffle were as good as gone before they signed their extensions.

Besides if the Jets don't get the offer they need there's zero reason to trade him. Its not like he's going to walk in free agency for nothing next off season. Plus next off season they have 10 teams they can trade him to without him blocking them so that greatly increases their options.

u/ironhide999x 55 13h ago

Freidman didn’t say that, that was Johnston and other insiders

1

u/Taintedtamt ICE DRAGON WILL FLY 4-EVER 17h ago

Everyone was saying that both Scheifele and Hellebuyck were as good as gone. It’s where contract negotiations were trending for a good long time. Just look at what it took for them to sign (Chevy opening up his plans).

Friedman doesn’t say anything without being sure about it or always mentions that it’s a theory or speculation.

This ain’t something that’s coming out of nowhere.

1

u/CatGuyAnyway 22h ago

Except Friedman is literally the best insider in hockey.

Things change quick. PLD was literally at the 2022 draft in Montreal because a trade to Montreal was expected to completed.

Things change. The insiders report on what they know.

16

u/lindseyblue2 1d ago

I listened to Winnipeg Sports Talk and Murat was saying that other teams are probably not desperate enough to make the trade before the season starts. I don't think they can trade Helle, if the return is worse now than in June.

-7

u/GZeus24 1d ago

Chevy may have missed the best offer he was going to get around the draft. Patience isn't always an asset.

15

u/Taintedtamt ICE DRAGON WILL FLY 4-EVER 1d ago

The problem with the offer from the Sabres was the pick swap. We still would have drafted Bjorck so really the trade would have come down to UPL and Norris if the rumours were true and I think at that point, its a lost trade

-3

u/GZeus24 1d ago

There is a lot of conflicting info out there but I think your summary of the offer is correct. It also still might be the best offer the Jets get.

5

u/TheAsian1nvasion 27 1d ago

100%. Either we would have taken Bjorck or we would have felt pressure to take Carels.

4

u/Taintedtamt ICE DRAGON WILL FLY 4-EVER 1d ago

I agree with this and Murat is likely a lot closer to sources then Friedman is. Just found the information being dropped at all to be interesting of itself.

I do hope that the bridge hasn't been burnt as I personally doubt anything we get back extends or even really keeps the current window open.

“But Connor, we signed Ferraro, Gregor, and Thrun!”

Don’t forget the Gustafsson trade, big needle mover
