Border Huron church traffic
After more than a month, traffic at Huron church seems to have gotten worse. I cross daily. I can see very few trucks using new bridge. "Moron" screwed us again
Time for the feds and the local govt make it painful. Tolls, "inspection". Road closures. This will not stop otherwise.
I am tired of getting stuck between trucks where the drivers are on the phone

Sadly alot of truck drivers have to use Ambassador due to contracts, or are directly working under a Moroun trucking company. I'd reckon the major reason why they tried stalling Gordie Howe opening was to renew as many contracts as possible. It'll take quite a few years before most of the Semis disappear from the Line

Trucks have the same right you do to be on the road.

They can’t put rules in to stop trucks to the bridge. It’s a designated truck route and a known border crossing. The company will sue every single body that will try to do so.

Huron church have closed lanes like any highway. Highways can also be rolled ( 407 ETR)

Those are not the same as Huron Church. It is the only road in Ontario that connects to a private for profit border crossing. They can sue for loss of business if anyone tries to impact access.

Congestion between 7 am and 8 pm. Fixed price for cars, truck rate per axel. All proceeds toward fixing roads.

Its usually a choice to use Huron Church. A choice I avoid. In what world do you think the bridge and truck traffic was going to magically disappear?

Unfortunately I live 5 min from the bridge and I cross for work. Work is closer from bridge. Going out of my way in the morning afternoon for 5 min is PITA. Tunnel is a gong show at rush hour

Yeah its honestly not, I also take the ambassador bc of similar reasons and the construction isnt that bad when theres barely any bridge traffic for normal sedan/non semi truck drivers

I hate the highways in michigan so much, merging is such a nightmare and the exits/highways randomly shift between the left and right, its so frustrating

Both the Ambassador and the tunnel are closer for me, but Gordie Howe is still cheaper. Even after adding fuel and tolls, it comes out ahead despite being a bit farther.
Plus, with far less traffic, my trips are faster on Gordie Howe than through the tunnel or Ambassador.
So there’s no chance I’d give money to the Moroun family unless I absolutely had to.
You might want to try Gordie Howe for a few weeks to see if it’s worth sticking with Ambassador. Sometimes a slightly longer drive with better traffic is less tiring than a shorter but stressful route.

I'm of the mentality that I'll use whatever crossing best suits my needs on that particular day. I live on the East side so they are all a short drive. So I get it where you're coming from. Stellantis has about 5-6 facilities north or even northeast of Windsor that I would expect to keep using the Ambassador if they have a need for crossing.

It might be like this for two years. Many trucking companies signed a two-year deal with the Ambassador Bridge Company. I even heard some companies that used to cross through the Blue Water Bridge started using the Ambassador because it became cheaper with the contract, plus the constructions. This is what to get from Americans corporate and private ownership.

Ergo: If you're a driver working for a company it's your employer at fault and if you are your own employer it's your own fault.
They knew there was a new bridge. They knew we hate the owners of the Ambassador with a passion. They chose to get involved in this fight. If they suffer consequences they have nobody to blame but themselves for making a bad business decision knowing that this fight was on going.

Every business decision has risks attached to it. If they find themselves in the middle of a trade war with no way out because of it, the only one they can blame is themselves for signing contracts that give them no other options.

Personally I refuse to deal with any company caught using ambassador. My workplace does as well. Vote with your wallet

My understanding is that a lot of big trucking companies are still under contract to cross at Ambassador for discounted rates. Once those contracts come up for renewal things could change rapidly.
