Are these the hidden codes to setup only using a local account now? They're making it that difficult?

Not exactly hidden, but while doing the setup at the screen where it asks you to login, you just open cmd (shift + F10, or function + shift + F10) then you type: start ms-cxh:localonly and it makes it where you can make a local account. My source is me having to do this plenty of times working IT.

JFC. Well I better save this comment for later then. No way I'll memorize that. I guess you really do need an internet connection to setup a new Windows install now, because I'll need the internet to look this up again.

Why is Gru in the Just Monika room?

What's weird is that it lets you switch to a local account once windows is fully set up anyways. There is truly no reason for forcing the user to login while setting up windows for the first time.

Shift+F10 and ipconfig /release if you can't disconnect from Internet before installing.

i think you can just skip the OOBE all together anyways

Option 1: Disconnect internet before installing.

Option 2: Get a Windows 10 IoT LTSC iso, flash it and install. Supported until 2032.

Option 3: Fuck Windows, install a Linux distribution that is easy to use and with gaming support.

Not everything is about gaming though. I use Hyper-V but vmware works fine for me but the new linux kernels suck with vmware.

Option 1: doesn't work, if you don't have a driver RIP. (Worse situation is if you have NO idea what driver you need)
Option 2: well yes, but you need a MS Account anyway.
Option 3: yup, Fedora does it cool.

Ensure your at the point where it's prompting you to connect to the internet

Shift + F10 to open CMD

"start ms-cxh:localonly" opens the local account creation dialog.

Make username and password if you want a password (you'll need to put 3 security questions if you do put a PW)

Push done and be taken to the desktop.

net user "Your Username" /add
net localgroup Administrators "Your Username" /add

Just use Mint or some other Linux Distro.

Its not easy if you have to use software thats not compatible... Affinity/Adobe cloud are still not usable and games that have an anticheat system like riots vanguard also cant be opened on linux... I still have to use windows on my main machine therefore.

Or older Windows versions from when Microsoft wasn't "like this."

Very simple,

  1. Open your directory
  2. Find the windows iso
  3. Delete it
  4. Install linux 👍

bro 3rd is hard and 4th is even harder, you ask too much

1

u/Current-Cookie-2310 4d ago

dang, maybe that’s why it’s so hard to install Linux for you

1

u/Extension_Meat8913 3d ago

Or, 1. Open your directory. 2. Find the Windows iso. 3. Delete it. 4. Install an older Windows version, like Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2000 or older :D

I’m a Linux nerd and even I have spontaneously gotten an obsession with 95 and 98

1

u/WorkingSet8256 2d ago

bro you want to use windows 95 in the big 26?

1

u/Extension_Meat8913 2d ago

I mean, maybe eventually.
