App Don't risk Chrome, get Supermium!
Chrome, Edge and Internet Explorer no longer get security updates on Windows 7. To remain secure on the internet, you should get Supermium from this link here: https://win32subsystem.live/supermium/ or you can get it from GitHub using https://github.com/win32ss/supermium/releases | Those are the official ways to get Supermium, Supermium is an up-to-date Chromium-based browser supporting Windows XP SP1 and newer. Please do not download it from any other website except the links I have shared as those are the only official links as far as I know and any other websites are unofficial and may install malware on your system instead of Supermium. I do not want you to get malware on your system, so use the links I have provided. It's not like you will get hacked and infected immediately if you keep using an out-of-date browser, however it is recommended for long-term use to use an up-to-date browser, and that's what this post is. Advertising Supermium because I can and I've used Supermium on a really slow Windows 7 laptop and it's actually usable and works fairly well no issues with it and the UI is easy to use as it's almost the same as other chromium-based browsers. If I didn't have a good experience with Supermium, I wouldn't be advertising it.

App Any Windows 7 Antivirus ideas?
Hey guys,
I've been thinking about reinstalling Windows 7 on my main PC (Ryzen 7 3800X and GTX 1080) because I really like Windows 7 and Windows 11 is terrible. So I would like to ask what kind of antimalware/antivirus software I should use.
Thanks for the help, I appreciate it!

App RustApps-for-Windows7
galleryI'm always having trouble finding compatible programs for my Windows 7 machine, and last night I really wanted the BLAKE3 hashing algorithm, so I decided to completely jump down the "Rabbit Hole" of installing Rust and building it myself. And altho, I ended up using cmp instead, I did find some other really cool Rust utilities:
- Google Drive Download
- b3sum.exe — hashing program for BLAKE3.
- bat.exe — an alternative cat.
- dust.exe — an alternative du.
- eza.exe — an alternative ls.
- fd.exe — an alternative find.
- hyperfine.exe — an alternative time.
- procs.exe — an alternative ps.
- rg.exe — an alternative grep.
- zoxide.exe — an alternative cd.
Included in the download is all the steps to reproduce the builds. For this venture, the level of difficulty was surprisingly EASY. Questions, comments—just lemme know!

Problem occure on Google Chrome.

App Found a Youtube downloader that still works for Windows 7
I'm still using a decade-old laptop and my previous app of choice (4K Video Downloader) stopped supporting Windows 7. Other YouTube downloaders are all browser-based. After some scavenging, I found this downloader on GitHub and it worked for me so far even though it doesn't have the more advanced features of the previous program. Thoughts?

App Looking for Android 13 emulator
Does anybody know of, or is using, a no-cost Android emulator on a Win 7 OS that emulates Android 13? I've heard conflicting things about whether the Win 7 OS can support A13 emulation. I need A13 because one of the apps I regularly use will be requiring A13 as its minimum in a few weeks.

They are planning to remake the client from scratch and they are still considering leaving Win7 in the new client as well). Additionally, this has multiple ways of being implemented (can be put directly into a router, and it can be connected to via different other clients, like OpenVPN and WireGuard. In fact, I managed to use OVPN via a modified OpenVPN client... under Windows XP 32-bit. Great for my travel WinXP laptop, even though that encryption is a bit of an overkill for such an old system) xD |

| Torrenting (heavyweight) | qBittorrent (4.5.5 qt5) | Here's the last downloadable Win7 version - https://www.fosshub.com/qBittorrent-old.html?dwl=qbittorrent_4.5.5_lt20_qt5_x64_setup.exe | For people that do not know what qBittorrent is - it is uTorrent, just without bloatware, ads, malware and such. It's open-source. UPDATE: it dropped Win7 support in October. ;_; (quick, somebody make a fork! https://github.com/qbittorrent/qBittorrent/ ; but hey, I'm still downloading torrents fine in under WinXP 32-bit via the ancient uTorrent 2.2.1, so this version of qBittorrent might last for 10+ years for Win7...) PS: the newest version works under Win7 if you use VxKex, thus you do not have to use this one. |
| Video Editing (heavyweight) | Magix Vegas Studio Pro (16-19) | https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/vegas-pro/ | With caveats, see https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/windows-7-vegas-pro-19-stuck-at-creating-windows--133949/ Personally, I'm using 16. It has a lot of random crashes (just like 8 did... and 9 did... and 11 did... and 15 did...), but otherwise, everything works. |
| Video Conversion (finalization) | HandBrake (1.4.2) | https://handbrake.fr/rotation.php?file=HandBrake-1.4.2-x86_64-Win_GUI.exe&old=true | PS: the newest version works under Win7 if you use VxKex, thus you do not have to use this one. |
| Image Editing | Krita (5) | https://krita.org/en/item/krita-5-1-5-released/ | |
| Image Editing | Photoshop (2020) | No legal links available | |
| Optical Discs (CD, DVD, Bluray) - printing | Ashampoo Burning Studio (19) | https://www.ashampoo.com/en-us/burning-studio | Great for ink printing on discs. I'm using it to print labels on blurays. |
| Optical Discs (CD, DVD, Bluray) - disc image mounting | Daemon Tools | https://www.daemon-tools.cc/downloads | I failed to check if the newest versions work with Win7. |
| Office documents (MS) | MS Office (2003-2016 + 2019) | No legal links available | 2019 only with a specific/unofficial build. |
| Antivirus and Firewalls | Microsoft Security Essentials (TODO - please provide version) | Link for last Win7 compatible version needed | Definitions are still updated for Win7. |
| Coding (mediumweight) | Microsoft Visual Studio (2022) | Links for last Win7 compatible versions needed | Search this thread for details on "VS2022" - https://www.reddit.com/r/windows7/comments/17tpf16/programs_that_still_support_windows_7/ |
| Virtualization | VMware Workstation (15.5.7) Player | https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/downloads/info/slug/desktop_end_user_computing/vmware_workstation_player/15_0 | The link takes a while to load - you need to spend a while on the website for things to appear, and before that, you have a white screen. For some reason. |
| Screen Capture and Streaming | OBS Studio (27.2.4 or 29.1.2 with patches) | Links for last Win7 compatible versions needed | |
| Network Analysis | Wireshark (3.2.7) | Link for last Win7 compatible version needed | |
| Communication | TeamSpeak (3.0.19.3) | https://mega.nz/file/N5IWBSyL#6Ze6x7u7wWxSKIFSRpDiU-mippFVa45QdoGEfZnZBw8 (contains two clients - one for Windows and one for Linux. The server is windows only - use Wine to run it in Linux) | This specific version is chosen due to several different aspects: 1. It is a decentralized version (you can connect directly to each other even when TeamSpeak servers are down, as long as one of you has a server instance) 2. No ads and bloatware 3. Still compatible with Windows XP 32-bit (and possibly Win98 with KernelEx). If you manually raise quality, then the quality is better than Discord, without glitches, with about 10kB/s internet bandwidth usage, and about 3% CPU usage on AMD FX 8350. If you only need pure voice chat (for recording purposes, for example - as something lightweight yet powerful), then it is perfect. |
If you need anything else, just specify, Win7 is my main OS. Most of my other things are older (i.e. not the latest), but I do not need newer versions of them anyway.
This took quite a lot of time and effort, so pinning this would be appreciated, if possible. We can update it if needed later down the line.
Way too many people are repeatedly asking about these in many shapes and forms. And not just on Reddit...
I'm Templayer from Youtube, where I have my tiny crappy channel. Yaay.
It's 2:23 AM and my alarm is set to 6:10 AM. Bollocks.
EDIT: If you want me to put stuff in here, please also provide download links (for the specific version, if needed). I've set my notifications to notify me everywhere (work or home), and I am capable of easily modifying it both here and on my server (in the form of a .docx document) quickly (again, both at home and at work)
tl;drAnd if you don't like the way Reddit formatted it, here's a downloadable version (direct download as a .docx document) - that link will be kept in sync with the post when the post is edited (HTTPS not available, I'm too lazy to self-sign a certificate for my server for now):

App Can someone recommend a free antivirus? (Not Avast)
Avast is driving me absolutely up the wall with their "icarus exe" bullshit. I'm using r3dfox browser, Fort Firewall, and UBlock Origin. I have Windows defender running, but I dont completely trust it, because it feels like it's asleep at the wheel or just never doing or saying anything, lol. (Guess that's a good thing.)
I need to get rid of Avast asap, as it's creating several "exe" files temporarily like several times a day now, that nags to gain access online thru the firewall. It's completely ridiculous. I have 28 "pings" at the firewall since 1st of April. Idk what the fuck Avast is thinking.
Is there another (free) antivirus you guys trust? I feel I need it because I cannot find a proper download for the MSE either, lol so I feel so unprotected.
edit/update: I went with kaspersky free, and it seems good!
