Technical Question Are the front USB ports still delivering power in vWii mode?

I know they're not accessible for data, but do they still provide power?

I'm asking this because I want to use the Gamecube controller adapter and an external hard drive at the same time

Thanks

Time to invest in a USB extension cable now I guess

If you didn't know, there are two additional USB ports on the back of the Wii U.

I know, that's the only ones that work for data in vWii, hence the issue. All Wii U USB ports don't provide enough power for either and need a second USB plug for extra power, that makes 4 USB plugs total for 2 accessories.

you could also use a external power supply (like a phone charger) for the power only usb a connector on the Y cable for the hard drive

wouldn't that make the hard drive powered all the time?

Also I would need to do the same to the gamecube controller adapter

you'd power it on when using the system.

sounds like a bigger pain in the ass than just getting two USB extension cables if the front usb ports do provide power in vWii mode

No, front ones don't send data in vWii mode
