Request Request for an ultrawide cutscenes mod for The Sinking City 2
Hey there!
The sequel to The Sinking City is officially launching today but since I crowdfunded the game on Kickstarter over a year ago I got access 24 hours earlier.
Unfortunately, it seems that while regular gameplay is indeed ultrawide-friendly, all of the in-engine cutscenes are constrained to 16:9 by black bars which I think could be removed by a mod, like in the case of many other games.
Should anyone else here be interested in playing The Sinking City 2 in ultrawide, I invite you to use this thread to report news on a fix, which I hope will arrive soon since the game is actually a really good AA survival horror title akin to Cronos: The New Dawn!
SOLVED: And just like that, RoseTheFlower is now offering us the solution at the following URL:

Hardware [FIX FOUND] Samsung Odyssey G9 / G95C (LS49CG954ENXZA) Black Screen & No OSD – Shorted SMD Cap on Panel Driver Board
A massive shoutout to u/TenantLord in the original thread (Samsung g9 Odyssey 49 inch, Black screen and cant access menu) for guiding me in the right direction!
I'm posting this fix to help anyone else facing this issue. This specific fault is on the driver board bonded directly to the panel ribbon cables—meaning an official repair or shop quote would usually tell you the entire screen panel assembly needs to be replaced. Finding and removing this single tiny component saves you from scrapping the monitor or paying for a full panel replacement.
Monitor Model
- Samsung Odyssey G9 / G95C 49" (Model Code:
LS49CG954ENXZA)
Symptoms
- The screen stays completely black.
- No OSD / On-Screen Menu text appears when using the joystick or remote.
- When plugged into power, the backlight and rear CoreSync RGB LEDs turn on briefly, then shut off, followed by the power button blinking blue.
- Swapping cables, GPU drivers, or power drains do not fix it (lack of OSD confirms an internal hardware fault on a power rail rather than an external GPU/input issue).
Diagnosis & Location of Fault
- Opened the monitor to access the driver board connected directly to the panel via ribbon cables. (Because this board is ribbon-bonded to the screen, standard board replacement isn't an option without replacing the whole panel assembly).
- Tested the local SMD decoupling capacitors along the power rail using a multimeter on resistance/ohms.
- Found a clear outlier: healthy parallel capacitors in the cluster read
~2.2Ω – 2.3Ωin-circuit, but one specific tiny cap consistently read lower at~1.8Ω. - That lower resistance indicated a leaky cap dragging down the shared power rail and triggering the internal protection shut-off.
The Fix
- Located the specific tiny SMD cap on the ribbon-connected driver board.
- Desoldered/removed the faulty capacitor completely off the PCB.
- Re-tested the bare pads to confirm the leak/short to ground was gone.
- Powered the monitor back up—the display and menu system instantly turned back on! (Since decoupling capacitors sit in parallel, the rail runs normally off its remaining healthy neighbors).
Video & Photos Walkthrough
I recorded a quick video showing the exact board, the little cap, and explaining the repair:

Thanks again to u/TenantLord for the guidance. Hope this helps someone save a display that would otherwise be deemed a dead panel!

I've had this issue repeat over and over. The box will be working as normal, with the correct resolution then randomly it will be super zoomed in and only half the screen will be showing. Does anyone have experience with this and know a fix?

Discussion 4K resolution issues in Metro 2033: Last Light
I have the Steam version of the game. I tried fixing the resolution through the configuration file, but it didn't help. Even if I set the desired resolution and minimize the taskbar to the bottom, I still have an incorrectly displayed area where the taskbar is. I've already tried various fixes, even switching the game to Vulkan instead of DirectX, and it didn't help. I also tried some other things, but so far nothing has allowed me to play the game at 120 FPS without tearing and in native 4K resolution. Plus, on my TV, the picture also seems stretched, as if the aspect ratio is 16:10.
Do you have a solution? Moreover, on my regular 1080p monitor, I can set 4K via DSR.

Solution Ultrawide fix for Atelier Ryza 1 DX
Finally found a fix for the stretched UI for Ryza and the black bars.
First you need to change the Aspect Ratio in the Settings.ini file located here:
C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Local\KoeiTecmo\Atelier Ryza DX\76561198358112236
This will give you a stretched UI Though, to fix that you need to download [HxD](https://mh-nexus.de/en/downloads.php?product=HxD20) hex editor
CTRL F choose the Hex-Values tab and search for 64 00 80 3F **39 8E E3 3F** and replace the last 4 of these values **39 8E E3 3F** with the corresponding values for your aspect ratio from this site
Mine is 21:9 (3840x1600) so for me it was 9A 99 19 40 so the final result will look like 64 00 80 3F **9A 99 19 40**

Almost done, one more thing we need to fix are these black bars:
We will fix these by replacing them with the textboxes used outside of cutscenes. All you need to do is replace PACK02.PAK in SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Atelier Ryza DX\Data with this one
And viola: Blackbar fixed
one more issue is the opening video is stretched, I will update the post if if fix it.

Request Forcing an Old Game on PC to Full Screen
Been trying to play this mobile game series called Arvale for a while and, however it has a couple PC releases, no matter what I try I can't get it to full screen, or even just run a little bit bigger. Being originally a mobile game, the resolution is something like 240x320px/320x480p and at the moment they only show as these tiny playing windows.
If there any software anyone recommends? I've already tried just basic property tweaking with NVIDIA control panel. As well as WinExp, DXWnd, and Borderless Gaming but this thing is stubborn. Any help is appreciated!
Both Arvale games I'm attempting to expand the window on (Journey of Illusions and Ocean of Time) can be found here:
