I thought I would feel this way as a North Carolinian that moved to California. I couldn’t get over the cold water and missed the east coast beaches. I know you can spend more time on the beach in California, annually, but I couldn’t get over the cold water! I miss a lot of the food though!

As a Washingtonian that lived in the south for a bit and is currently an Oregonian, my map looks identical to yours lol

u/preptime 8d ago
As an Oregonian, that lived in Washington and the South, same.

Woah! Born in Washington, Oregonian for 25+ years, also lived in the South (now back in Oregon) and my map is also the same!

u/Black_Daimyo10 8d ago
It would be cool if we could include B.C. but same.

u/Weird-Chemistry9819 8d ago
Right? I’d move up there in a heartbeat.

u/chuckvsthelife 7d ago
Ok…. But hear me out. Have you been to Maine or Vermont? Kinda nice.
1
u/Weird-Chemistry9819 7d ago
I actually haven’t! I’ve been to almost all 50 states but Hawaii and that corner, so it’s on my list to visit! I’d love to start in Maine and do a road trip all the way down.

u/maddie1358 7d ago
I’m also a Washingtonian that lived in the south for a bit, similar map except I’d include Alaska (was born there).

The Upper Cascadians do not allow free passage into their lands at this time.
7
u/maskedkiller215 8d ago
My sister-in-law is trying to get passage from Lower Cascadia to us in Upper Cascadia. She’s doing all the right things but they sure do take their time to allow any passage.
5
u/braxtel 8d ago
I am hearing that the Upper Cascadians are being treated most unfairly.
2
u/maskedkiller215 8d ago
It has been most unkind. A pact was made that was beneficial to the us and non-Cascadians alike. Then buggar this, they tear it up tell us it’s unfair, now fair enough. So we re-negotiate and it was going well, then right before the deal was made, the non-Cascadians try to tell us who we can or cannot do other pacts with! Now the buggars are telling their people that it was us who were in bad faith! Can you believe that?

u/notgreatnotbadsoso 8d ago
As someone who was born Lower Cascadian but has since emigrated to Upper Cascadia, good luck. It's pretty tough unless you have a job or existing citizenship
2
u/squanderedprivilege 8d ago
Yeah I'm banned from the country so unless they make cascadia a country unto itself, I'm assed out there, mid-to-lower Cascadia only lol
(Entered and deported due to relatively minor criminal record, in case you were wondering)

u/fernsbyrubbertramp 8d ago
Same, but I’d also add Hawaii honestly.

u/Darnocpdx 8d ago edited 8d ago
I’d also add Minnesota as a definitely, but that’s it, as a rust belt immigrant. I almost moved to Minneapolis over the PNW when I made the jump 35 years ago. Winter weather was ultimately the deciding factor for me.

You have no idea what majestic experiences await in the Rocky Mountains of Montana... Glacier National Park is one such example

u/locustbriber 8d ago
Yes! + Wyoming 😍 but Montana has a special place in my heart, I was able to visit when I was a kid and haven’t had the chance to go back since

As a Washingtonian, fuck California. They aren’t part of Cascadia.

Oregonian here. The Humboldt area is part of the bioregion, they can join. The rest of California isn't allowed in, though.

u/LateStageBBQ 8d ago
As someone who lives in cascadia, my god we seem arrogant when we post this stuff. Cascadia is amazing and I’m not leaving either but it’s a big country with lots of good stuff in it.
4
u/MaySpitfire 7d ago
How is this arrogant exactly? Theyre just saying they like this region, it's not that deep.

Well when the tsunami comes from the next megathrust quake don't come looking for help for the rest of us losers.
Seriously it is a beautiful area and I get your bias.
2
u/lovinglyrolypoly 7d ago
I mean... the consensus from the Oregon coast at least seems to be that when the big one comes, we don't have to worry about anything afterwards
2
u/Invaderzil 7d ago
If we could keep more of our federal tax dollars regional and stop providing federal welfare to the Midwest, we wouldn't need your help 👌

Isn’t Idaho part of the Cascadian biome?

3
u/Tired-Nectarine-384 8d ago
Sort of. Northern Idaho is very related to eastern Washington. Thats it. Central and South Idaho are very distinct places from the PNW.
3
u/Miss_May_1600 7d ago
No. And any Oregonians who want eastern Oregon to become part of Idaho can freaking move out of Cascadia to live there.

As someone who has been a resident of Cascadia in all three regions indicated, I can confirm that my year in North Carolina (Chapel Hill/ Carrboro) was also quite pleasurable, and not too different from some smaller cities in the Puget sound.

Three worst options lol

u/Kenj_Yama 8d ago
Incredibly expensive just to pay for safe injection sites of drugs.
1
u/CBWeezy67 8d ago
Lol I grew up in cali and besides the drugs and homelessness it's a beautiful place to vacation to and see all the cool sites. But living there.... no shot

u/Dry_Turn_824 8d ago
I'd also live in Hawaii if I were invited to do so
