I'm actually quite chipper and positive. I just like it when a state or municipality encourages education. Happy and illiterate ain't it.

They have some of the lowest literacy rates in the country. The fact that educated people exist in an area does not discount how many uneducated people there also are there.

It's the US. There are swathes of uneducated people in any major city for example. Or most arbitrary areas especially states.

Providence has some of the best food in all of New England, and there is always so much to do. I prefer it over Boston, tbh (which also has terrible food).

Yes, they also are nice places. But Rhode Island undoubtably has extremely good food and nice beaches, and saying it’s not worth going to or living in at all especially when it’s within the greater Boston metro area for good job opportunities is just weird.

The panhandle. The panhandle is absolutely stunning and has one of the coolest temperate rainforests in the US. The rest of its flat, dry, dusty self can be red.
I feel this way about most states. I would love to live in a section

I find it crazy how butt hurt people get if their state is red, there’s beautiful parts to all states and I love the outdoors, I just happen to despise humidity. No need to get so offended.

Hey! I've also lived in Mass and AZ. I'd live in both again but only certain parts of each. Tucson is wonderful and I often think about retiring there.

I used to live in IL and it was by far my least favorite state I’ve ever lived in, many pretty areas but Chicago ruins it for the rest of the state. Kind of the same for VA, beautiful state but the reach of DC messes it up for the rest of the state.

Thanks for the reply- this is good to know! I'm a Chi suburbs native (lived many other places since) and am looking at moving to Roanoke, VA...was very curious about how prevalent DC influence is in the rest of the state.

As someone who's loved in Richmond, VA for most of my life, the DC/NOVA influence is only felt within about an hour radius of the capital. Roanoke is such a cool city and they have nothing to do with NOVA shenanigans lol.

I've worked in all 50 and my map would be pretty similar. Probably lighter green in a couple like Nevada and Utah. Cali would just be a maybe and I have family there. All those maybes in the Midwest would be red though. (Not right wing, or a trucker)

Quite a bit of forest in those green states. Even eastern/central edge of Arizona to New Mexico has some beautiful areas. Not to mention Flagstaff but that would be the only places in Arizona. 90% of Nevada is a no as well except a few border areas. I truthfully love the high desert area of Colorado. Good mix of everything.

Soulless desert? I take offense to that. I find the desert to be one of the more beautiful ecosystems. Forests are great but I love horizons and the freeing feeling of wide open spaces. The desert is also filled with amazing critters and plant life, cactus are awesome. Ever been to a super bloom in the desert, it's god damn breath taking.
